It was 2008 with the launch of the first gen R15, a test ride on which left me wanting for something more. It wasn't the power that bugged me but the dimensions of the bike where i had difficulty folding my 3.5' long legs to keep my feet planted on the pegs without feeling the cramps. I was hoping with the success of the R15 and the FZ, Yamaha would in the course of next 2 years experiment with a 250cc motorcycle. Alas 3 years later it was the Honda 250R that finally broke my patience with Yamaha, but i was still hopeful of an upscale R15 with a 250cc mill in the next 2 years.
4 years later, as i'm starting to look at the 600+ segment, Yamaha decides to finally bring in the R3.
So i think its fair to say that when Yamaha decides to bring in the FZ6R or the MT07, i would probably be thinking of moving into the litre bike range.
Nonetheless, years of speculations and desires are finally put to rest with Yamaha waking up to the call of the thousands. As the hindi proverb goes, "Der aaye Durust aaye" aka Better late than never.
Edit: ERR, wait a minute, news is "unconfirmed"? Dhat teri ki. Anyway i think Bikeindia was banned from xbhp a while ago because of their ability to churn out silly stories from thin air and send the Indian motorcyclists into a tizzy? Motoroids is no better tbh, i often take their news with a pinch of roids. Hope this news isn't linked to roid rage.
