OMG, this is unbelievable. How is the wheelbase? same as present V2 or of old wine V1? I think it deserves new thread, rather than off topicking R3 thread.

Looks like a V1.

Except the alloys and the exhaust.

For some reason I feels its just an old pic photoshopped with the alloys and exhaust.

I mean why would Yamaha use the old fairing when they went through the trouble of researching and developing the new one?

And then to keep both the V2 and this in production just doesn't make in corporate sense. You are just increasing production costs and covering inventory space.

This is hoax.

The fairing is also from V2.
But I also doubt it, looks photoshopped.

Let me give you the ground level news.
Bangalore wheels got 34 R3 bikes.
12 were booked before bike came in. By yesterday 20bikes were booked. thats 8 3 booked in 3 days that too at single dealer. also 2 bikes were booked yesterday when i was at showroom. Maybe online not many are talking here but offline its going crazy. and you know why i was out of xbhp for past 2 days? it was because i was busy being around r3

As saquib said earlier, abhi was kind enough to ask me to ride the bike to his place since he was in car with his kid. i rode a good 15 kms to his place in proper saturday bangalore traffic.

I have just one thing to say - before commenting on anything about the bike please please go and test ride it. i believe test rides are being given now. also do not assume anything about the bike before riding. i am actually sick n tired of hearing about how ugly the saree guard is. i mean its freaking ugly and all i know and also its going to be removed by owner once he gets bike so whats the point are we making. ?

So this i how it started (the madness i mean)
Abhi started the bike first when he was handed the bike keys. Man o man, its a bliss. no where close to any video i have seen. its a superbike sound!!!
The bike is nothing like r15 in looks (so please dont be a kid in saying it looks like r15 and people cant make it that its r3) for gods sake guys on road went nuts saying "man the r3 got launched?" "oh f%^&k its the R3!!" . it turned each n every head on the road. even people in bus were looking at it, let alone a old lady in auto asked me about the bike.

Sat on the bike when i was about to ride it to abhis home. it felt like cbr250r. once i started the bike it was complete different story!!
Its truly a R series bike. may not be as sharp as r15 in design but each and every inch of bike screams R series.
The tank should have been metal part. because that way you can use tank bag with magnets just like r15.

The bike looks similar to 2005 r6 redesigned into new age 2005 r6. just place r3 beside 05 r6 and you will know.

Here is what i didnt like in the R3
1. the brake lever should have been like the one in r15.
2. The RVM do good job but the mirrors could have been a bit bigger. probably 25% more.
3. the honk sucks in r3 after getting used to r15 honk. i mean r15 makes even truck guys to leave space when you honk. the r3 in city couldnt move a car from its honk unless honked more then 3 to 4 times, but the exhaust note did make few bikes and autos go side
4. yamaha should seriously think of redesigning the turn indicators

PS: i didnt miss r15 when i was riding the bike in city.

Few pics for the eyes

BTW what difference is there other than cosmetic

Thank you for clearing the air. I am currently staying in Hubli, I enquired with the yamaha dealer here, display bike takes another 1 month to reach here, so I had this question which even you chose to ignore. Quality comparison vis-a-vis N300, since you have the 1st hand experience, kindly provide some perspective.

No friend its not photoshopped.Anyways if anyone still doubts then they will get their answers in a 2-3days.Also new FZ-S Fi colours have been launched.

Requesting Moderators to make a new thread for this.

And most probably wheelbase will be same as of current V.2.

I really wanted to buy this bike but my parents and friends all are against it.
Basically for the fact that it costs 3.85L in Bangalore and I would need to take a loan for it.
I cannot drive a car and neither do I like the 4wheeled things.
Can you guys tell me what is the delivery time for the bike and for those in Bangalore that have registered what number prefix are you getting for e.g., KA 03 JA XXXX

Hey sorry i guess i didnt see about the ninja thing.
Hubli will take time since major cities themselves are yet to get their first lot of bikes. and also the dealer has to finish the training for R3 and only then they will get the bikes. yamaha is being very careful as to which dealer is getting bike and who has completed training.
I cannot give quality comparison with N300 since i am yet to experience N300 like i did with r3.

Arnab or saquib can do that.

There are good loan options. Arnab can help you.

The bikes are available for quick delivery, i guess 1 or 2 days max. pay the amount and ride home. if you wait for another 2 weeks the waiting time is going to shoot up a bit. The waiting time will not increase a lot since 200 bikes every month is the target and since its priced high expect decent waiting time.

i dunno about the number prefix yet since abhi is yet to get the number done.

AFAIK the dealers have to meet the requirements set by yamaha to sell r3. which includes their service reputation and r3 training.

The R15 shown in the thread seems true news afterall. It could be called R15-S and will be sold alongside R15 v2. Will have aluminium swingarm, and more usable low end torque than R15 v1 , also a more usable pillion seat.
Ride, ride and ride.. But always do it responsibly..

Went to see the R3 in person yesterday and I was very satisfied by its fit & finish, paint quality and specially ergonomics. I'm 6.1 and riding position for me was so comfortable and straight. The console is simple and neat. The only thing I didn't like is finance scheme Yamaha is offering its 15.75% interest per anum flat no reducing and available opt out is 1,2 & 3 years. You can have your own finance so its not a big deal but still almost 16% is sky high.

It is 3.61L on road in Delhi.
