With an 80 mm bore and stroke of 62.1 mm with a Bore to Stroke of 1.28, this is an engine optimized for mechanical efficiency while not truly combustion efficiency like the ones below. With a backwards tilted engine with a front placed intake, it also achieves better combustion efficiency. It also has a counterbalance shaft in front of the shaft for vibe control.
The DUKE 390 is at 89 mm to 60 mm with bore to stroke of 1.48 or Duke 200 at 72 mm to 49 mm with a bore to stroke of 1.47 ... its BMW not a true 'short stroke'. The Dukes will have a not so good CE and hence putter the way they do.
The note if you try to hear better is more mechanical than the putter of the Dukes.

Now there are a lot of factors ... piston speed, weight, intake, outflow ... *my head hurts now*
