Thanks Bro. I will surely check it out.

EDIT - I just called up the Kanjurmarg KTM and they quoting Rs. 2,07,300/- OTR. And 8 days delivery on full cash payment.

Just one more question - Do they let us do the PDI before the bike is sent to RTO for registration?

Because when I purchased my R15 the bike was already at the RTO getting registered and I couldn't even do a proper PDI and reject (In case there were issues) since the bike was already registered. Thankfully, the bike turned out great. I dont want such troubles with this bike. Hence the question.

      Hi guys,

I am the proud owner of a KTM Duke 390. and overall I am very happy with the bike. it is a sweet ride and handles great. but the one thing I can't come to terms with is the service centers charging money for fluids on free service. yes parts replacement and any other issues are fixed free of cost and they don't charge labor costs, but for all the vehicles I have owned I never had to pay for free servicing at all (not even fluids) and I got more number of free services. so why this new turnout. why now do we pay for service which is to be free. I feel we should only get free servicing done if we crash the bike or find a defect otherwise I see no point in spending money for it and calling it free. does anyone else feel the same? also not like this is an old bullet which drank like 3ltrs of motor oil so I don't think the company is losing a whole lot by ACTUALLY offering FREE service. Right

The "free" part in the servicing is referred to only the labour charges. You have to pay for the oil since the oil is not made by Bajaj. It is made by motul. So I guess if you ask the SVC to put the Bajaj mineral oil, they won't charge you anything. If you consider Motul 300V, 1 liter bottle costs some 1100 bucks. And spending 1500~ per bike per servicing would bankrupt the company.

Mineral oil in 390? Are you kidding me?? Engine will fry in minutes.
Even if you ask them to put Bajaj engine oil they wont give u anything for free.
          Motul is OEM for KTM.

I know Motul is OEM for KTM. I won't put the Bajaj oil even in my D200. I'm just telling about the cost.

Guys a quick question. I use a car primarily and only use my duke as a weekend warrior. For this reason my bike misses a lot of the free services as the KMs don't come up as fast as the service dates. What should be my course of action? Do I follow KTMs schedule and take my bike for servicing even if it has run no where near the given distance? or do I forgo the free services and only service my bike when it travels the set distance? I perform normal maintenance myself such as checking fluid levels and cleaning/lubricating the chain etc.

Finally got the mushroom plug patch done on my Metzeler at Michelin tyre plus store. Final result looks better than the string plug, technically the air should push the plug base to the wall, providing a better seal. Let's see how it goes. Here are a few pics of the procedure.

Here's how the patch was done.

I got it done at MV tyre world as Xenex staff was on leave. Otherwise both of them do mushroom plugs. And both the workshops are Michelin Tyre plus stores.

Coming to the service center preference, It's Banjara hills any day. Srikanth is the best ktm technician in Hyderabad. The hospitality at Banjara hills KTM is one more reason, it's more of a hangout place for us than a showroom.

Yes, you can hang around and watch while your bike is getting serviced.

No they didn't, instead they used the normal red colored glue, which is normally used in puncture fixes.

Go for service only when km durations are done. But some people are reporting that SVC is threatening loss of warranty if service is not done on time. Better check up with them.

well if bajaj would be bankrupt for providing free oil for at least one of the 3 free services (namely the first one at 1000kms) for a handful of bikes in the entire country, then they have major financial problems and may go belly up soon. and by the way bro I raised the question because I saw at vinayak bajaj in begumpet that they were charging for oil in free service for pulsars and other bajaj bikes as well not just KTMs

well to be honest in my opinion one can go for service a little early (say only 5-600 kms of the 5000 kms left on service odo) for the first three ""FREE"" services. the bikes engine is new and can do with some fresh lube and other fluids at smaller intervels. later you can give at specified times or as you feel it because you'll be paying anyway.
