COngrats Vasa! Scene is heating up in the naked category.Originally posted by moto_vasa View PostHi Nikhil, Congrats bro. The bike looks hot. specially the man machine combo with this one is great.
I have also booked the FZ1, and that too exactly on March 10th
. It was gettin way delayed than expected.
And finally after a long wait, my machine has arrived. A few snaps of it.
@Nikhil: Would it be too much to ask for a short audio film featuring the exhaust sound of the I4 engine. I am pretty sure, all of us would like that.

Been terribly busy. Hence am late to join the party. Good to see you riding such a machine!
You are sure? Aren't you forgetting something?Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostCongratulations Nikhil, finally you took the plunge eh! Good going.
Shall soon follow
(Hopefully)
I am 169cms. That is like 5'6 or thereabouts. And I had no problems riding the FZ1. Loved it.Originally posted by jvh View Post
Sorry to bother again - Going by your riding experiences, am assuming the riding ergonomics are quite good... What is the seat height? And would it be comfortable for a rider of 5'7"
What makes you say/feel that the Bandit is more practical than the FZ? Just the fairing?Originally posted by mav1234 View PostOT : Any particular reason why you didn't go for Bandit 1250, which I think is more practical, comapred to FZ1...( Its just my opinion )

Its 2011 model , there is no integrated gear indicator. First service is at 1000kms . After that it is 10000 kms. not sure which oil grading is to be used. The Manual said YamaLube I guess.Originally posted by diehard View Post@ niks : just wanted to know your fz1n is the 2011 edition ? also does it have an integrated gear indicator ?? Thats the perception we have in IndiaOriginally posted by ken cool View PostWhat makes you say/feel that the Bandit is more practical than the FZ? Just the fairing?
A grab rail and a fairing makes it a touring and a practical bike. I wonder when SBK's became practical in any sense ?

Nikhil, I would advise you to go for Motul or something even better. Avoid Yamalube.Originally posted by niks_devil666 View PostAfter that it is 10000 kms. not sure which oil grading is to be used. The Manual said YamaLube I guess.
IIRC Yamalube is rebranded Motul yet the quality of oil is not very good as per my interactions with Yamaha owners.ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

This is what the manual says -
Engine oil:
Recommended brand:
YAMALUBE
Type:
SAE 10W-30, 10W-40, 10W-50, 15W-40,
20W-40 or 20W-50
Recommended engine oil grade:
API service SG type or higher, JASO
standard MA
Engine oil quantity:
Without oil filter cartridge replacement:
2.90 L (3.07 US qt, 2.55 Imp.qt)
With oil filter cartridge replacement:
3.10 L (3.28 US qt, 2.73 Imp.qt)
Now which one should I buy. I want to go in for the oil which is put by the Service center guys.sigpicThe Moto Cafe - India's first bike theme cafe @ Chandni Chowk

Please see below. Hope it helps.Originally posted by niks_devil666 View PostThis is what the manual says...
Quite a few Yamaha owners have mentioned that the engine is smoother and vibrations noticeably lesser when they switched to Motul from Yamalube.
You might want to check with your dealer if switching to Motul will affect your warranty in any way.ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

The older versions of FZ1 are supposedly kick-***. Everyone who has one loves the living crap out of it( as told by some of my friends in SUPERBIKE-MALAYSIA forum). The new version apparently isn't nearly as good. It's too revvy, and every single bike magazine on the planet has brought to light the horrible fueling glitch. Some say it's to the point that they can't believe Yamaha actually let the bike go into production with such a glaring (and dangerous) problem with it's Off-On sudden surge.Originally posted by ken cool View PostWhat makes you say/feel that the Bandit is more practical than the FZ? Just the fairing?
It also needs to be ridden much more aggressively to get the most out of it and it's revvier engine and more sporting chassis and seating.
Of course, I haven' ridden any of the above mention bikes, so you can only take my word for what I've read.
So I thought may be,just may be,Bandit was a bit ahead of FZ1 in terms of all these advantages, plus as what you have said, a little bit of fairing does no harm.....
Finally, It depends on what you want the bike to do. The FZ1 is lighter, faster and better handling. The Bandit would be better as a sport touring bike as far as i am concerned..Last edited by mav1234; 04-26-2011, 02:02 PM.

The FZ1 has a 4 second delay in off on throttle response over 4500 rpm. But some people hardly notice this on/off a race track. Some stores offers FCE $200 / 300 #s which fixes and restores 10 hp in midrange. FZ1 YAMAHA remapped EFI ECU eliminates "snatch" in properly tuned bikes. FCE STILL helps but is it worth it for what it does?, I am not sure as I dont have personal experience of owning this bike..
... but just have some technical knowhow, as some of my friends were facing this issue in their older version of FZ1... You can see some forums for more details about this issue and some know how about it..
