I'm confused. Couldn't understand much from the above.

Is FCE a yamaha term for the ECU? Looks like it, cos its talking of remapping and stuff. A Power Commander might solve the issue though (at a cheaper cost?) assuming Yamaha charges a bomb for such ECU upgrades.

Quality of fuel would play a big part here. First and foremost.

Its nothing like ECU kindaa thing..

FCE is Fuel Cut Eliminator which Eliminates the factory Fuel Cut on vehicles equipped with a MAP sensor. The signal to the MAP sensor is unaltered until the cut-out point is reached, for full use of the factory fuel supply....

Quality of the fuel will surely play a big part.. but together with this IMO an after market SLIP-ON will be just a icing on the cake..( in order to remove the glitch that was depicted earlier )

This issue was prevalent even on the R1s of that model year. It is very much noticeable on/off the track.

Yamaha then issued a recall notice and replaced all the ECUs.

Most importantly, this problem was present only on the US spec R1s and FZ1s.

Now which one should I buy. I want to go in for the oil which is put by the Service center guys.

Quite a few Yamaha owners have mentioned that the engine is smoother and vibrations noticeably lesser when they switched to Motul from Yamalube.

You might want to check with your dealer if switching to Motul will affect your warranty in any way.
OK, need to clear up a couple of things.

Yamalube used to be manufactured by Mobil 1 until mid 2010. After this, Nippon has started manufacturing this oil. The Mobil 1 Yamalube 20w40 was a fantastic oil in all respects, and I would use this on my R1 regularly.

This new Nippon made Yamalube is just nonsense. I would suggest Valvoline or Sprinta 4T, or even BP's MAK. The R1 is currently running MAK 20w40

Switching the oil between brands will not void the warranty, but you need to conform to the same grade and type mentioned in the manual.

                    you are wrong dude
                    read this -
The new version apparently isn't nearly as good. It's too revvy, and every single bike magazine on the planet has brought to light the horrible fueling glitch. Some say it's to the point that they can't believe Yamaha actually let the bike go into production with such a glaring (and dangerous) problem with it's Off-On sudden surge.
                    LOL

I am yet to get the first service done. Will get to know abt this only after I start giving my bike for service. Will keep updating abt it on this thread.

Overall , (what I have heard) Yamaha has earned a bad name for SBK servicing. I hope my experience will be otherwise.

                    • Hey Nik, which engine does the FZ-1 have? Crossplane or something else?
Who needs more than 70 bhp when you don't need to slow down for the corners?

will be having R1’s cross-plane crank engine..Together with it, upgraded suspension, six-pot brakes and a new R1-inspired half-fairing will make the line between supersport and sport-touring even thinner. It wii be an awesome bike for touring I suppose...

@Niks: You are correct, Yamaha doesn't offer a good SBK servicing at least in India..whereas Honda i suppose is completely different in this cateogary( ask Fireblah for this.. he is the correct person as he own both Fireblade and R1)..

Hey man, I saw FZ1 yesterday in person... The bike is really huge in size, it looks bigger than the R1. The bars are wide plus bloody fat tyres..

Congrats to you. It will surely have huge road presence.

I wonder how did you get unnoticed from public and that too when yours is white one.
