Lots of service stations do exactly this. It will do the job, but is really not recommended. You will have to lightly oil up the elements again if you're doing this.Originally posted by niks_devil666 View Post@rossiter :can the stock filter be cleaned with a vacuum and a brush ?
Hi Harish, there are no disadvantages to the K&N filter as such. The only problem is that you'll have to install a fuel management system like the PC3 once you put in an aftermarket filter like the K&N. These systems cost around 15k or thereabouts, so if you're willing to splurge on it, then go for it. Otherwise, just stick to the stock filter, and keep replacing it every 2500 kms or so.Originally posted by harishks01 View Post@rossiter: could u plz explain what are the disadvantages of K&N filter in the fz1? do u recommend to ve a stock filter itself

The cost of the FZ1 air filter is a lot lesser than what it is for the R1, but running stock air filter has a lot of advantages:
1) It is proven to be better than the aftermarket filters in some cases.
2) If you go for an aftermarket air filter, you will most likely end up changing the air-fuel ratio on account of more air flowing in(leaner condition), because most aftermarket filters allow more air. If this happens, your engine will run hotter, and you will have to tune it back to the optimum AFR by buying and installing an aftermarket fuel management system.
The disadvantage is only one, which is that it cannot be re-used.
So I suggest you think about these factors and decide accordingly
Isnt modern engines such as these have closed loop systems with intake and exhaust sensors which would feed right amount of fuel , alteast the basic compensation ? .
Unless you want extreme power, where you want to dump extra fuel you have PC 5
SPEED .....i need more
I cannot do burnouts :(..my bike has traction control...

You're right, these sensors will compensate to a certain extent, within a small window. This is to cover the operation of these bikes in various altitudes. But once you put in filters, exhausts etc, you introduce a huge change in the A/F ratio, which cannot be compensated by the sensors on the FI system. You have to install an aftermarket fuel management system. No other go.Originally posted by nfsnfs View PostIsnt modern engines such as these have closed loop systems with intake and exhaust sensors which would feed right amount of fuel , alteast the basic compensation ? .

I am sorry
.
Thank you for the information.
What happens when you remove the o2 sensor to put a slip on
. Is it necessary to have a pc3/5 to compensate ?
Talking about slip ons, why do certain slip on cost a bomb where as few are available at half the price.A BIKE ON THE ROAD IS WORTH TWO IN THE SHED

Need Some Help Here!!!
hi guys,
I am from Delhi. Its been almost a 45 days since I have paid the entire amount to my dealer for delivery of FZ1 (White).
Before I booked my bike I visited the Yamaha factory in Noida which is warehouse for all bikes Imported/Domestic with special permission of Yamaha CBU Head India. I noticed 2 Whites and 2 Blacks of FZ1. After recommendation from Nikhil and comparing the bikes side by side for myself, i decided to go for White. In the meanwhile after seeing the bike and making the payment(almost after 10 days), I was confirmed that both the white bikes have been sold
. I was still given an option of black colour which I refused
. The dealer said he would get the bike delivered in 10 days which was not the case. I believe these bikes were shipped to you in bagalore/pune. And while following up for delivery all I get is a shitty reason - NO STOCK, JAPAN is quake affected.
If any of you guys who are still waiting or have already got the delivery could help me out...???

I could be contacted on 9810020304.Last edited by johnnyblaze; 06-03-2011, 02:20 PM.**********************************************

@johnyblaze:
i booked my bike 35 days back. at the time of booking i was offered the black bike but i refused and accepted to wait the promised 25days time period as yamaha india is out of stock. the 2 white and 1 black which u probably saw in noida was delivered to bangalore. 1 white was delivered to msp motors on 22nd of may to my friend and the other black was delivered to ankit(diehard) a forum member through perfect riders. i am not sure what happened to the other white because i am very sure only 2 bikes came to bangalore 1 white and 1 black.
35 days have passed away since i made the payment, but the wait still continues. now i have been told that i will receive the bike before 20th of june. the latest information is that 2whites and 1 black is reaching delhi by 5th-7th of june. lets cross our fingers and pray to the gods above. hopefully 1 of the white is mine and 1 yours
PS- the above information may or may not be true but this is what i have been made to believeA BIKE ON THE ROAD IS WORTH TWO IN THE SHED

@Johnny and Harish : When I had booked my bike a lot of 4 whites and 4 blacks had just arrived at the Gujrat Port. One of them was was booked for me , and I guess one went to Chennai to MotoVasa. The remaining white and blacks could have ended up at Bangalore and some to Chennai too. The second shipment was expected to arrive in June as Harish has pointed out. Hopefully you guys will get your Ef-Zee's in this month itself.
(There is no proof for this information , it was told to me by the showroom guys)sigpicThe Moto Cafe - India's first bike theme cafe @ Chandni Chowk
