There is no stretch of road in India where you won't find a fuel station in 300 km distance. (unless you are planning on crossing sahara / gobi dessert, you won't have any problem.)

What about the Fuel Quality on Highways? In city you know your usual Shell Pump and can be rest assured, but on highways the shabby pumps dont look right. I mean all the talk about Adulteration etc. Isnt that harmful for these machines?

      • Well then you need the Bandit 1250S. Thats the only import which runs perfect on unleaded petrol. No high octane required because of its relatively lower compression ratio.

Also, all these motorcycles have filters in their fuel pumps which prevent any impurities from reaching the engine.

Adulterated petrol is simply bad luck. there is no way around it. Just dont go to the same pump the next time.

I think Niks has already specified that bike runs fine with regular unleaded fuel. Regarding adulterated fuel, make sure that you go to company run pumps like Club HP etc.

Buying a naked for inter city and intra city rides was the awesomest thing you could do. Once again...congrats on buying a bike which suits the kind of riding you do. Not the usual 'faired' superbike phobia

A few things of concern tho. There is no way in hell that the engine mounts can come loose if they were torqued well during the assembly of the bike. Atleast not so soon. You aint ripping the bike nor redlining her. You aint doing anything that shouldnt be done on the bike. I think you need to look deeper into why the engine mounts were loose. Its a effin serious thing to have them loose.
secondly...why replace the air filter ? could it not be cleaned ?
thirdly...yes do service your bike at every 5 k interval. I service my bike at every 3.5 k interval. Could be an overkill to some...but these fast toys need to be in pristine condition all the time.

Congrats once again...and do call me for your moto cafe night rides

            Ciao
            Thanks dude.

I was also surprised that the engine mounts were loose. Although the mech has tightened them properly. I have also been advised for a service interval of 3-4k kms. I might get the next one done after 4k kms.

About air filter , thats wht the mech told me that it should be replaced as it cannot be cleaned. Will a K&N provide respite from this unnecessary expense?

And will start calling u for the rides. But we all cruise at around 100-110 only

OT: I guess this started back when I quoted to you, why you have not chosen bandit instead of fz1..hehe.. .. sorry for creating a war after that..

BTW, dont worry too much about the unleaded fuel, FZ1 runs perfect on that too..

Once you cross say some 5K mark, you can very well go in for K&N or Simota Air filter. Its quite nice, and there will be no hastle...
Just wanna ask, how was the Yamaha Servicing done. I mean are you satisfied with the servicing part... can you just throw some light upon this.

I wasnt there when the servicing was being done. The problems were fixed so I think the service was good

                            • booked an fz1

hey niks congrats on your bike..

i too ve booked the fz1 (white). unfortunately they ve asked me to wait for this colour
                              few questions:
                              1) have u touched speeds above 200kmph? if so how is the wind blast??? is it managable?
                              2) is shell super recomended? how r u following it up?
                              3) have u owned any other sbks before? do u feel contented with the power?
                              4) are u planning for any mods?
                              5) should we worry about getting the radiator mesh??? cause i ve heard the mechanics say tat regular riding/touring can damage it, as it is completely exposed!!!!!!!!!!
                              6) how s the clutch doing?? i mean is it smooth? i felt it was a little hard though!!! when u ride in traffic does your fingers hurt????
                              7) the bike is about 215 kilos.. are u finding any difficulty in handling it???

have i asked 1 too many doubts
A BIKE ON THE ROAD IS WORTH TWO IN THE SHED
