  • will try find out about a rear sprocket for the shaolin.. i replaced mine around 2 years ago.. am using a fiero chain on it now.. which is thicker.
might make sense if you do the same.

i assume your front sprocket is all ok?

    • Currently the front one too is in bad shape

The Fiero has a 13T - 40 T combo thats one less in the front and one more in the back do u think this is equal to 14T-39T

      to simplify

      Is 13T - 40T = 14T - 39T ??

        Let me simplify.

        Is 40/13 = 39/14?

A simple calculator should give you the answer

        • the first answer is 2.78

          the second one is 3.09

          2.78 = (is not equal to) 3.09

but then its impossibble to find the 14 - 39 set up wat to do with the chain sprocket prob then????

          • Just find a ratio that has the number closest to the one you desire, which i guess is 14/39. Then get the sprockets of that size. or do it in reverse.

              • should be able to get the rear sprocket will try do some searching during the weekend..

also wrt mirrors.. if you're going for the stock look you hould be able to get the samurai's mirrors.

but imo they don't really gel with the look of the bike. i did a LOT of searching a few years ago, and finally decided on the splendor mirrors for hte bike. they go really well with the setup i have.

                    • wrt the stickers i got i'm just saving up for a good paintjob.. i fear the stickers i picked up may not be original not sure how to find out.. if you guys are buying in bulk count me in.

a bit of advice wrt the piston. you need to be careful when you buy a piston.. what happened to me was the piston wasn't matched perfectly withthe block, which resulted in slight engine clatter, which is disheartening esp after the amount of running around i did for a new bore kit.. wat you'll have to do is check what type of block yours is, a single letter will be inscribed on the block either B Y or something. this will have to correspond coloured dot on the top of the piston. i think its B=blue Y=yellow

                            --WRT BORE AND PISTON KIT

unfortunately there was nothing i could do..

i knew it was going to be a problem, but i had no choice.. so i just went ahead with it.. the new bore is much better than the old one..
                            pulls decently.
during the run-in i was getting a mileage of over 50kmpl(keeping revs below 4000)

haven't checked mileage after run-in. during my recent trip i got a mileage of around 39~40 over a distance of around 700km on highway and really REALLY bad roads.. so i have nothing to complain about other than the sound of the piston clatter..

i've heard TVS sells(has sold in the past) their racing pistons(which i think are the last oversize- 1mm??) i'm not sure..
whether these exist and if we can get them is something i don't know..

i'm just letting you know about the piston matching problem because when you're searching for a piston you should know what you're looking for..

                            --WRT MIRRORS
what are you planning to do? i'm sure you'll get the samurai rectangular mirrors, but honestly i don't think they gell with the bike at all. unless you're trying to go for a total stock form.

                            • @adi my bore indicates a neat B on top,

lol now take the rest as a joke,

My question to you is, wat does the blue and yellow denote
the first thing that came to my mind was my mum yelling nikhil go get the cylinder from the gas man down in the parking lot, and take the yellow gas book not the blue. . .

so ya adi in all seriousness wat is the meaning of this letter and ya wat did ure bore denote?

from what i got B on the bore denotes blue.. so the piston you buy will need to have a blue dot on the top(will be very clear and obvious marking).. that should be a perfect match
