All the minor detailing you went through to take care of the restoration is clearly shown in the outcome. Lovely lovely.

    Cheers !
Thank you for kind words. I'll try take some eligible pictures and post it.

Now, I am completely confused about colours. I will call you to discuss on this.

Worst possible 2T Nitesh would have suggested because of running-in period. Low quality mineral oil would let the rings seal to the piston well?? Correct me Doc, if I am wrong.

Agree with psr Sir there. Do not take it to any place where you don't have covered + secure parking. Even though you may say in today's era of 'sports bikes' nobody looks at these oldies, trust me we have too many people with too much curiosity.

How is the number plate fitted? Make sure that the bush on the plate is firmly supported by rear mud-guard. You might know this but just reminding
I can understand what Nitesh is trying to say, however, I don't know the worst 2T oil, may be the loose oil that we get from the bunk?!?!

If I should not be taking to places where we don't have covered plus secure parking, then it doesn't fit me. I don't have either at home and someone could take care on my behalf.

Number plate have maintained the same way as my other bike's IND plates. It doesn't have to be bush at the back, it is so malleable aluminum that it tends to bend with slight push. So it will hang in there from the stay, just like that!

Contacted a distributor here for the maroon tank. I'm going to visit tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed.

    • had a glimpse at sri's RX 2124 last weekend

i was present in the workshop for sometime, where the RX re-build was progressing. when i was there, the mechanic told rear wheel cannot be fixed until the part mentioned by sriram in earlier post is missing. that is when sriram was little worried that he could see the fully fit RX during the weekend.

also i think he was not lucky to hear the first engine sound post re-build. am i right sriram?

i was happy to see the bike in picture after full restoration in picture. i have to see the bike in person this weekend.

what i observe is the constancy in effort which sriram has in the work he does.

@Sri - i wish this RX 2124, would serve you for next 15 years without any hassle. Njoy.
      Regards,
      Deva.

      • Hi Sree congrats...the effort you have put in definitely seen in the bike...its as if it just rolled out of a showroom and make me remember the day when i went to the local yamaha dealer to book the bike in 1994 and there was a similar maroon color on display and i wasnt able to take my eyes off it...

Do the proper running in and retorquing the head bolts, adjustments like tightening of the fasteners, chain, cables, etc, etc and do proper servicing its going to be there with you for ages w/o even missing a beat.

Once again congrats and all the best

OT: Sorry I dozed off soon on sat and only saw your post on sunday. Will try to catch up next week.

                      • +1 Asif. I was about to ask Sriram which make is the headlight assy? Thank You for not putting a big headlight with cage/mesh/bull-bar

Idle screw is of 135 type?

                        Absolutely neat bike

EDIT: Just read your first post and saw the mention of 'dimples' on the silencer. Did you chrome the same silencer of bought a new? Just wanted to know how the dimples where taken care of.

Don't think so; from what I remember, it seems to be stock. What I forgot telling Sri was...exhaust note was excellent

Thanks Asif, the run-in is going on slow and steady. Not trying funny things until it is done.

Oil level meter is an OE and only RX100 came with this. Later series had only the clear window for oil minus the meter/gauge.

It is DCM Toyota doom which even has the parking light provision. Yes, even I don't like to get the headlight 'Bangalored'.

Idle screw is of 135 type?
I bought a new carb and keeping the carb came with the bike as spare. The Micarb idle screw does come with minus type head. Whereas the older models both RX100/135 will have the star head screw types.

Thanks Nitin. Silencer is brand new! Old silencer with dimples is definitely out of place. Except the frame and few most are brand new.

Thanks Nitesh. No it is the stock carb only. May be the picture could have given the illusion?
