Guess what happens last evening? The clutch cable goes kaput!!! And this is happening somewhere around 2.3K; I'm under the impression that they should last much longer, say, atleast 10K+ kms isn't it? Is Yamaha's quality coming down these days? I'm sure to have bought a genuine one!!!

Looking to the pilot lamps; so horrible!!! They've started developing rust around the plated clamps around them. So much to have bought the genuine parts!!! Or is it due to the coastal weather?

I am a newbie, would fellow bangaloreians share their experience @ MCC?

Oh by the way, he sells those crap-kits for 5.5K
MCC doesn't have many original parts. Its a haven for locally made duplicates. Never assume you will get original parts there.

And yes - that new shop he has opened - "Yamaha Spare Parts" inside that building - its probably the biggest dump of duplicate parts.

Dont even by a jet from him.

If you are looking for real genuine parts try some of the Authorized dealers - pay some advance and wait. If you are lucky you will get it soon enough - otherwise for small parts its indeed very difficult to get original items.

PS: Please avoid Indonesia/Malaysia/Thai/China/XYZ kits ....definitely fake.

      • ^^^ Was expecting some replies from you Sandeep; you're just giving me a smile. What could be the culprit on the soon to worn out clutch?

        • Aargee: I feel there should have been some problem somewhere with the cable when initially installed and that gave up in due course of time.

I don't remember changing clutch cable for a brief period of time. I have put on new cable after rebuild, let me watch out if there is a similar issue.

Rusting: I believe that the element of corrosion has shown up much earlier than expected. Would not blame us for buying all genuine parts. It's Yamaha who got vendor supplied with such a quality.

May be the Pulsar's lever??? Are you suspecting that one? Glad that it didn't give up during our ride ; I'm really happy & Thankful to God

            • Whew!!!

Whew!!! Finally replaced the cable!!! Took about an hour; tested for about 3 Kms & things seems to be good. I suspect the Pulsar's clutch lever as the culprit. If this one also breaks in 2-3K Kms, then I'm damn sure about it & know what to do.

MCC is ok for 2T oil and small spares of RX. He doesn't have much anyways. As Sandeep said, your best bet for bore kit is a Yamaha dealer with whom you could place an order. Else search for it in small towns.

Funny, I want to post it here about the talk I had with "Bangalore Wheels" on Rajkumar Road, B'lore.

I went to buy the handle bar, they gave me Curix handle bar and said we give this every body even for RX'ers. I said no, then I tried to talk to the lady in the spare parts section about the bore kit. She said NO with out even looking away from the computer in which she was entering some thing.

I asked if I can place an order and pay advance for the RX 100 bore kit, she said NO. Reason? She says the Yamaha people are making a fool of the dealers (In Kannada "Kage harisodu") saying it'll come in next 2 months from the past 2 years so she cant take advance for something that she is not sure of will come.

However, she was hopeful that it'll come in the next 2 months and asked me to check with her next month end. - We all know what that means...

I closed the note saying - What Yamaha is doing now is only helpling the "black market" grow for these spares (like MCC selling fake products at a higher price)

                    • Yes. That lady is a bit short tempered. She has been there for the last 5 years or more - I have been seeing the same duo - Ratan that boy and that Madam for a long time now and so they are a bit better behaved with regular customers but they can both be very rude at times.

Just say "Madam...." she will be more polite

Anyway, the problem is not the dealers, its the Co. itself which is not having enough items in production. Who knows for sure if the April 2010 timeline for new BP kits is real ? As you have said, we have been hearing this for years on end now. Best bet is to look for used Std or 1st OS kits...and get a rebore.

You have tonns of manufacturers in Delhi that many of us are unaware of and they provide parts for alomost everything moving with an engine in India.
YAMAHA does not manufactures these cylinder kits inhouse. They too have parts outsourced just like any other OEM. So you never know if you get in touch with the manufacturer/supplier that supplies these parts to YAMAHA.

My thaughts i would not just believe anyone untill i get a answer for my self.

The one I bought was the last of its kind that was available. Probably God was on my side that day. Skipped lunch, didn't have money in hand, misplaced the primary ATM card & bought it through CC by paying a hefty surcharge on a hot afternoon after making a decision in split second.

And after soaking in 2T oil

Now the ODO clock is 2471 & wanted to check the color of spark plug

This is the color of spark plug that is clocked 781 Kms after last clean up.
