    Well, fun is in the heart, few of my earlier posts conveys it ; the real fun comes when someone stops me on road & asks me how did you build? Not to forget those jelousy stares when I ride - PRICELESS

        Thanks a lot for your encouragement;

        I'll continue searching for an OE 5 speed barrel from Yamaha; until then I've no choice of running in the 4 speed barrel

        BTW - can you tell me why is it called stupidity using a 4 speed barrel & 5 speed gearbox pls?

          What would you call me if you saw me in a nice Reid and Taylor suit with Paragon chappals fooling around you?

          Regarding stickers, if you are going for RX 100 original look, you will see there are 2 double lines on the tank. Those are stickers. OEMs are hard to find. After you paste them on your top coat, then you would apply the lacquer.

          Also, apart from chroming, there is another thing called zinc plating that we do to those nuts, bolts and axles. Have you thought about that?

          PS: (Pradeep! apologies for reid n taylor)

            Whatever rocks your boat man. But my unsolicited free advice is restore it to stock 100. After all a stock 100 has a charm of its own. Trade that 4S barrel for 5S one, buy another 135 and restore it to 5S. Would be good for highway touring or short highway rides. Expensive option, but worth it I would say.

            If you feel like pepping up the 100, go for small mods like uni, rdd cdi, etc. Should be more than sufficient for your kind of usage I suppose.

            Hope, its taken in the right spirit. I mean no offense.

            Now, what is Reid & Taylor and what is Paragon chappals in your example? You are not calling a 100 paragon chappal are you Shayari samaj nahi aati hai, zara vistaar mein batayein

              There is nothing stupid about it. I loved having a 4 speed barrel on my 5 speed. gives you kickass acceleration that no other setup can ever give. Even in 2nd gear it'll throw you back at low revs with 16/38 gearing. Loved that setup more than my 5 speed barrel. Later figured out how to get almost the same acceleration with a 5 speed barrel with taller gearing.

              Just make sure you use higher octane fuel with a 4 speed barrel and 5 speed head. 4 speed barrel with 4 speed head isnt much fun. Crossing 80 will be a pain, but city riding will be uber fun.

              • ^ You got me thinking on my 135 re-build now. 100 itself does a 90kmph pretty easily, 135 won't I guess you are talking about true speeds?

                • Guys,

                  There is no intension to use the 5S barrel with 4S gear box. The only reason is unavailability of the parts.

                  please avoid offense..

                    Yes I get it;
                    I'm sure you'll agree that there's no hard & fast rule that person wearing Reid & Taylor should wear only red tape/Lee cooper right? He can wear paragon at where he's wearing it, his comfort, his preference & the situation.

                    Anyway to cut it short - I want to buy things WITH BILL from authorized distributor/dealer/stockist & should not support/encourage the grey market. I'm willing to buy a 4TL10 barrel ONLY IF supplied by one of them. Hope you got the point.

                    OT - But I'm wondering what has Reid & Taylor got to do with 4TL00

                    I have OE Rx100 tank (black) & frame from YASS bought 6 months ago

                      Are those heads different too? What's the difference & how to identify them? Could you shed some light here pls?

                        a 5 speed has way shorter gearing than a 4 speed and relies on higher revving nature to attain higher speeds. once you put in a 4 speed barrel, you'll lose ~1.5K RPM revvability which translates into loss of ~27KMPH at the top using the same gearing.

                          I didn't quite understand '1.5k revvability'

                          In a nutshell are you saying 4S barrel+ 5S gearbox + 4S Head loses out on the top end, to the extent that it struggles to go beyond 80?

                          I hope the stock configuration of 4S does a speedo indicated 100kmph.

                          • Well, I have nothing to say other than, my current setup of 4S barrel with 5S gearbox clocks 110 on ODO & again, its not 16" rims in the rear

                              Does the bike remain stable at 110 Kmph? I find a RX100 wobbling pathetically after 90Kmph - specially it's front part. Even if crouched.

                              • I think its better than other RX, however not as good as modern ones; reason? weight of huge frontal disc brakes.
                                BTW - pls answer me about nickeling man; I'm waiting for that
                                Once I was able to push to 115 with crouching, but I like to sit straight & drive like the streets.
