The entire job was done at DownTown Works (service center gave it there) and that guy is super secretive about paint used. All he is willing to say is 'it is imported'. So no idea about what he used. My brief to the service center was the paint should not flake.

Fantastic, so you got it done at DTWS @ Shanthinagar is it? Thanks for the tip on heat resistant.
@JD666 - man you've given me some homework to learn on "high heat paints"; I'll be glad to google them; Also, I'll try to source out someone who carries out similar work here @ industrial estate & get that done OR the worst case - go to DTWS @ BGLR

^^ you can send your engine case, covers to em, im sure they can send it back once done.
Other thing that you can get done locally is get the engine powdercoated grey from the outside.. that will also last and not flake off.

JD, doesn't the 3M stuff cover all these stuff? I mean, I'm just trying to get one simple thing instead of powercoating, "high hear paint" & not to mention the "anti rusting" stuff itching my head

Yup, Shantinagar. Be forewarned though, they are super-expensive, what many would term as 'rip-off'.Originally posted by aargee View PostFantastic, so you got it done at DTWS @ Shanthinagar is it? Thanks for the tip on heat resistant.

And yes, I think they would paint the covers and sent back. I don't see any problem in that.A lone amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic...

@Nitin - I'm aware of DTWS costs as I've stayed in Shanthinagar for a little time; Anyway I'm tired of hearing the super secrets & "imported" words a lot & that's the primary reason I'm building things by myself than give away everything to the mech; Atleast I can learn what all goes into the bike isn't it?
@JD - Thanks to the good ideas JD - appreciate very much; My net was down for last 4 days @ home so couldn't check on the updates much besides we went to track to meet few Chennai & Bangalore folks; so was busy this weekend; will check on the high heat paints during this week once the internet is up @ homeSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Yes, I love to learn about painting techniques & do it myself; unfortunately I don't have the equipments, so most probably, I'll get them dismantled & take it to the right place to get it painted.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

After long time I found sometime to go through RX rebuild projects. I want to really Thank several people here & especially the ones who adviced on this forum
I found an immense lesson to be learnt & strongly recommend this to everyone that (credit to psycho98) - do not rebuild simply by trusting the mech; know what's going in & what they do & what's your spec, how did you do & this includes to each & every bolt-nut that goes into the bike; and JD's question went unanswered in that thread. Anyway, this is my diary here on my Rx rebuild & will continue posting my blogg or blabbers here to help the community
All the more, I can't Thank enough For The Support I Get Here
I'm giving my bike for service today, just a normal 5K general service!!! & may be I'll change some critical parts. One such is the kicker shaft that has started losing its threading. The throttle cable is already replaced.
Not now, but here's what I planned to carry out sometimes during May or June; I plan to keep the dates open due to availability of few mandatory parts such as swing arm/rear axle, 12V magneto,
- Gladiator front forks. My mech says there're 2 types of Pulsar's front fork & he wants to use one of them, I'm not sure which one. Since I was more biased towards Glad's, I didn't pay much attention. Pls shed your expert thought on this.
- I bought 3 axle rods that are bronze in color; I was just thinking how would it look if I chrome them. Wouldn't it look beautiful to see the bike in just 2 simple colors black vs chrome? Pls provide your expert thoughts on this too.
- Also was planning to get the side stand chromed!!! might sound crazy, but I was comparing the outcome of any HD's side stands. What're your takes?
- The final outcome I'm seeing is a Rx100 look with Rx135 4/5 speed barel with 5 speed gearbox & 5 speed sprocketing. Hope this is viable.
- Painting is one niche area & Thanks to JD for providing me the idea of high heat paints; I need to get down to the street to find this out myself than trust someone blindly. I intend to get the paint color to be as original as possible but with high quality of paint & job; to be more precise I would like to get more lighter color on the silvers & not as dark as Bigbore's color. I'm restoring it to black which is not an issue because I get all the stock parts from YMIS, so no need to paint over there.

- I think we discussed this earlier in PM and on the phone.. the gladiators front forks are a direct fit, and fitting the front disc is much easier because everything you need can be taken from the front of the gladiator.

- You could put a chrome cap on the axles for the look, chroming them really fine would be the solution, as a thick layer of chrome will affect the dimensions and you might ( just might ) have issues installing and removing them, though the margins should allow for it. So yeah, you could chrome em.
- Also was planning to get the side stand chromed!!! might sound crazy, but I was comparing the outcome of any HD's side stands. What're your takes?
- You can chrome the Side stand, the T-bird comes with a chromed side stand, looks great.
