I agree. Its all about maintenance. The bore & crank problem comes when there is lack of lubrication (2-T oil, quality as well as quantity). The basic 2-stroke engine is the same, be it the 65cc Hero Puch or the 110cc Shogun or 135cc RX.

I just recall an incident when i was in class 12, there was a friend of mine whose elder brother had a KB100 & he once brought it to the college. I really liked the bike & in course of conversation, he told me how his bro's bike used to run without even adding 2-T oil & had lasted several thousands of Kms. Man if only he knew of the bores & the cranks he would have never dared to do such a thing.

@KB100, Superb collection there. I made sure i save them in my desktop.

I think what he must have meant was that he never added 2t to the petrol.... he must be unaware of the separate 2t oil tank and pump. No 2 stroker can survive without 2 T oil lubrication of the bore.

Looks cool. Is that pattern on the tank of any significance? What model is your bike. Any mods done? Share some details.

My Shogun is scattered all over my city with different parts in different workshops, bought but not yet assembled !!!! My trusted mechanic is running out of time to settle for this project apart from his daily service duties .I am also very much pressed down by my daily life.........

Money is in output is yet to be seen...............meanwhile I am throwing my GS150R around.Enjoying all the biking on it,God knows when would I get to ride something different

Macho if you don't sit on the Mech's head and get it done, there will be no end to it..and will drag on....trust me I had been through it on my first time restoration of my KB100....Take time off and get it done in a single day.

This is bound to happen with anyone & everyone; so much for the word "TRUST". Never use that word with any mechanic, these words has no meaning to those guys!!!

I would do the run-in with the stock Cdi..............and then maybe improvise.

                          • @sriramefunds...hiii..no its not of any significance..its just a tribal design i saw on a custom painting site...i drew it on paper,, traced it and cut it on radium...stuck it before the hardener layer...was fun doing it though....
only cosmetic upgrade done ..engine is stock..i have added a thread in the who r u forum..will share the details later..but built it with my own hands with some last minute tuning from a local mechanic...xbhp helped a lot in that..i downloaded a service manual and a catalog manual..dismantled the bike and restored it accordingly...sorry got to go sir..will discuss in detail later.tc.

@rx88..hi...ya it is a 1986 model but its not the original paint.it was red..silver was done around 5years ago...actuallly the bike wasnt used for a year or so..it had a leaking petrol tank through the emblem..thts the reason no emblem on the new one...now.. will rev it for sure...tc.ride safe.

What I meant was that unless the owner is committed to finish it yesterday, the mech will take it to next year.
I was also forced to do it myself like u said.I had to trust a mech to get the job done, due to my work schedule. Even recently when I did a total engine make over on my KB same thing happened.Worst part was the rotary disc was put wrongly and mech didn't know what to do..Bike will idle but will not accelerate...he said the bore had to "settle down and become free, then it will be ok ".I took the bike back, dismantled the clutch side totally and re assembled it correctly, and everything is ok now.
                              Assured peace of mind.

                              • you will not find a single mechanic who is really committed to his work these guys work under some other mechanic for 1-2yrs and start their own garage saying i am a mechanic but when a major thing happens to the engine they say take it to the co i dont have tools ,they want to make money asap it takes a max of two days to assemly the complete bike if he gives that time for the build and provided he is ready with all things and spares which are needed during & for the build or else 50times he will send chotu to bring nut/blot/oil seal etc in that also he will take a break for chai/cigratte,then some more customers comming in between my scooty is not starting,my pular is vibrating,my disc is not working you know these things are humiliating i have seen when someone puts his interest in making his bike/scooter or what ever they come across many problems and finally they dont get it when desired, the mechanic says great things before opening the bike but after wards he knows how to screw up and extract money
