Of late had been seeing this ad on TV & i couldn't control myself by asking all you strokers this one question, "Are they Serious" ??
Pulsar Official Website | Pulsar Bikes | Pulsar Bike Price | Pulsar StuntMania | Buy Pulsar Bikes Online - MyPulsar.com
"HUNTO" & "PULSAR = Sports Bike"

, they could have come up with something better. God save this country.
Damn, i miss that RX & Shogun era.

Suzuki VS Yamaha
Hi, I have some questions regarding Suzuki & Yamaha 2-Stroke machines...
1. How does the Yamaha RX100 have a higher performance than its equivalent Suzuki machines?. From the IND-Suzuki AX100 to the TVS-Suzuki MAX100R.
2. Why is the Suzuki MAX100R model so successful in sales?
3. If the Suzuki Shogun was released to compete with the RX100 then what is suzuki doing with the MAX100R model?. I mean Yamaha did both mass-market sales and performance with a single model ( RX100 ) for more than a decade.
4. If the Suzuki Shaolin was released to compete with the RX135/RXZ?. Why does the Suzuki Shaolin sold so less in numbers compared to its Yamaha Rivals?.
Anyway I'm a fan of all these 2-Stroke bikes from Suzuki & Yamaha. My Motorcycles :-
IND Suzuki AX100 ( 1984 )
TVS Suzuki Fiero ( 2000 )
TVS Suzuki MAX100R ( 2002 )
Hero Splendor Plus i3S ( 2018 )

Probably the reason may be fact that it was the last two stroke launched(of its kinds) before banning the two strokes. If i am right, in the late 90s. correct me if i am wrong guys!Originally posted by prasath_xbhp View PostHi, I have some questions regarding Suzuki & Yamaha 2-Stroke machines...

ax100, max 100 were never performance machines, but they were reliable and fuel efficient .rx100 was based on rxs100 sold elsewhere in the world. a peppy little bike which had good power to weight ratio.
shogun on the other hand was like a bike ahead of its time(wont go in details) and ended up also like other such products(fury, rd) which we indians could never digest....
till the time shaolins, supras came yamaha had a strong base may be thats why they were sold less in numbers.however some of these machines had better engineering then the age old yamaha.

The RX100 was 11 bhp. The AX100 was 8.25 bhp. It was launched in 1984 (before the RX) so was not a rival to the RX100.Originally posted by prasath_xbhp View Post1. When the RX100 was launched, the TVS-Suzuki AX100R was launched with 9.65 bhp. Finally came the Suzuki Supra Power-Up with 11bhp.
By that time, the RX100 was too firmly established as the 100cc leader to be challenged.
Simple ... reliable bike with GOOD Fuel Economy!!!Originally posted by prasath_xbhp View Post2. Why is the Suzuki MAX100R model so successful in sales?
The Shogun was bred with one purpose only : to beat the RX100 (which it did) but at the cost of reliability. The bike would shake itself to pieces in a few years.Originally posted by prasath_xbhp View Post3. Max100 was for the no-frills commuter.
The reliability factor. With 138 cc and 11.8bhp, the 5th cog in the gearbox did not make too much of a difference.Originally posted by prasath_xbhp View Post4. The RX100 with it's legendary reliability still trumped the Suzukis02 Qualis GS
03 Zen Carbon
62 Jawa 353 "Tank Switch"
83 RD350 HT
87 Yezdi 350 Twin
99 Yamaha YBX

Thanks for your kind reply...2-Stroke machines impresses me in a different way than 4-strokes. I'm not a racer-type, rather I admire the way the bike feels and goes on the road, the noise of the silencer and the throttle response of a 2-Stroke in much more exciting than even the advanced 4-Strokes. My father is a Suzuki fan, he still rides his IND-Suzuki AX100 bought before his marriage. He bought me a Suzuki Fiero during my high-school. 3 months ago he bought me a used Suzuki MAX100R model against my wish ( I wanted a RX100/RX135 ) and just got it serviced fully. Anyway after servicing the MAX100R, i'm quite impressed by it I love very much now for primarily one thing...the exhaust note. Right now my friend is planning to get a used RX100. I told him about the Shogun. He told he'd never heard of the bike and asked me to bring pictures. So we had a lot of comparision & confusion btw the suzuki and yamaha 2-stroke bikes. Thanks very much for your kind reply.Originally posted by sixspeedtwin View PostThe RX100 was 11 bhp. The AX100 was 8.25 bhp. It was launched in 1984 (before the RX) so was not a rival to the RX100.

Suzuki Shogun was a brilliant bike with very less scope for mods.........it was already modded with its power and torque like a focused sports bike.
The Indian biking segment had no parallel of the Shogun as a production bike in the 2T era........too bad, it is definitely difficult to maintain one now.
Keeping it aside as marvelous 2T bike in garage and riding it slowly and speeding occasionally is suggested.Hell's Angel
