Only Suzuki Samurai first version was not equipped with one and the Supra and AX models did not have tachometer.

Yamaha RX100,RXG and RX135 all versions did not have tachometer.
But Yamaha RXZ, both versions had the tachometer and even the RD350 had it.

.....yes Suzuki did came up with tachos on the shogun & shaolin...but the KB100 came before all of them and how many shoguns & shaolins are there in the road compared to MAX100Rs? ...so as far Suzuki is concerned, the speedo of their MAX100R stuck in my head...as a kid ofcourse... ...and Kawasaki fitted the most unique speedo on the KB100 before others...so I still stand for Kawasaki... ...well atleast the speedo is concerned... ...but I do have to say that Suzuki Shaolin has the most beautiful speedo after the KB100...

    Suzuki MAX100R Speedo.........so plain jane...

But My most beautiful speedo on an Indian 2-Stroke bike goes to the Suzuki Shaolin...........

Suzuki Shaolin Speedo........note those cute gear indicators lights...

    • can anyone tell the speed range to be maintained respective to its gears for a rx100 in its run-in period?? one of our member is going on a trip with a newly bored 100..so if he knows the speed range to be maintained it would be very helpful!

if he hasn't done more than 500kms and if the lathe shop gave him what they call a tight fit, because these buggers usually don't have a bore gauge or feeler to check end gap and everything is done by trial and error, I suggest he hold back his plans. If they gave him an ok fit then there's nothing to worry the piston has enough clearance and rings have hopefully sealed all it needs a minor checkup to make sure the pump works etc etc and ride awayy!! An RX100 hits power band as follows (warning these are meter readings I could be wrong)

        1st: almost at10kmph
2nd: almost 20kmphish sane rip take her upto 30ish
3rd: almost 35kmphsish sane rip you can take her upto 45ish
4th: stays in power band at the edge of 50kmph until 70ish

letting go of the throttle every now and then is a very very good idea if you have autolube, my RX100 keeps hovering between 60-70kmph, If you don't have autolube you SHOULD invest in one premixing in stock bikes is el stupido

you mean he can go till 70?? during run in? and yes he has crossed 400+km..isn't 70km/hr a bit too much strain for a 100 during run-in?

            • Like I said everything depends on the quality of machine work done, the shop where I got my rebore done the guy ran proper clearances from the RX workshop manual and trust me I took my RX to almost 80ish, in bursts that is, and it did not feel a thing. But to my misfortune I ran shitty oil after completing 700ish KM, castrol jettx till this I curse that purchase, which brought in a faint knock but it doesn't matter the motor is still pressing the gauge at 150PSI so I don't care about the knock as long as the compression does good everythangs ok

EDIT: actually the shop I went to first he asked me whether I wanted a tight piston or a loose piston lol so this other shop was recommended by a friend of mine and this guy was nice

Neither is ripping around like an idiot in the city. I ride like an uncle and proudly say that coz I value my life. And if people have the capability and the passion, go hit the track or you're more than welcome for speed testing in a controlled environment. But sadly half of these yamaha heroes wimp out when the speedgun comes out of the bag. And the others come up with a 112kph topspeed max for a bike they claim can cross 140kph++

Its as simple as that. Street racing isnt cool. Its retarded
Totally agree. Its all about enjoying your ride. Speed is a different issue, and it has to be at a different place.

                              • Sorry guys, got really disconnected. The videos of the Zuk strokers, evoque such fond memories....ah, well, I found out the hard way that unless you have a truckload of cash and truckload of time, you are better off with an Yamaha, this after I restored a shogun by my own hand, and watch it fall apart as the guy for whom I restored it is not worthy to own such a machine. He actually ruined a Yam as well, so there you go. I'd love to declare capital punishment for him....
Anyway, I will probably acquire a Z 4 speed, add a disc, and just ride it around.....found a few, need to plan finances now
