You seem to find them easily....I mean the trouble some ones.First in spite of new parts the mechanic had poor knowledge and did a bad job, then the painter complemented him.,,,,,Go easy and get the work done with a knowledgeable guy...Take a print out of the KB 100 manual and STUDY IT.Don't let these grease monkeys cheat you again.Originally posted by kb100 View PostKERALA

Precisely. I can't provide any assistance in Kerala, and take your time in choosing a Mech. Also, take your not-really-a-biker friends along and get their vehicles repaired, and all the while keep this question in mind - "Will I hire this mechanic if I had a garage?"Originally posted by psr View PostYou seem to find them easily....I mean the trouble some ones.First in spite of new parts the mechanic had poor knowledge and did a bad job, then the painter complemented him.,,,,,Go easy and get the work done with a knowledgeable guy...Take a print out of the KB 100 manual and STUDY IT.Don't let these grease monkeys cheat you again.

What do you do..pour water on him or dunk him in a drum of water ?

.How long will it be before he becomes his old self again.Don't bet on this guy..he will use your money to drink more.Avoid such people like the PLAGUE.....If you are enthusiastic why don't you try to set things right by yourself..It may take some time to do..but you will achieve things with greater perfection....and wow the JOY OF ACHIEVING IT BY YOURSELF

Are you really serious about the reverse of the process?
Note any markings, and order of disassembly in order to get the reverse of the process right.
DIY is the best way out for old strokers, as I did it on partial basis on a friend's Shogun.

Have confidence in your ability...it is the best way to learn..If a BA literature guy like me can learn it why can't you ,an Engineer ? Besides you have the Service Manual with you now..so what is holding you back.Originally posted by kb100 View Postyup putting parts back together is a bit difficult for me despite being an engineer

You own a P 180 ? did you know that you can fit the P 220 F long duration cam in to a P 180 and get better performance ?Try it, you will like the improvement. The P 220 F cam costs only 540/-,and it is worth it.

i knew that from here ,but didnt know that it would only cost 540 will buy that on monday , i was thinking of grafting the cylinder kit of p200 to my p180 retaining the same head , but first i need to fabricate an end can for my 180 as the current one is badly corroded i have the completed the design ,but finding the raw materials in small quantity is difficultKawasaki KB100/enduro/125 substitute parts list http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/508615-post105.html

P 200 is overbored P 180.So you can go for the 200cc conversion.I think the top head to bore gap will be less if you go for the 200 bore change. You must add extra packing to offset this.Otherwise you will have very high compression and bike will run very hot.
For the present, go for the cam mod and see.Buy cam only from A.S.S.
Good luck. When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

@KB100 - you are right - it is hard to find someone who CAN and IS willing to work on a KB. Same problem in hyderabad too. Almost two years back, I visited one of the famous mechanics here but he denied to work on a KB right away. Luckily for me, I have a mechanic who also happens to be a close frnds for about a decade now and there are two other KBs apart from mine that visit him regularly.
Another thing that adds to the woes is the scarcity of spares.
Aren't these the things that make a KB even more special/Rare and one of a Kind
?
