  • KB100 RTZ Restoration

Hey guys !! that was an awesome coverage of the restoration of the KB100 RTZ Delta. I read each and every of them with the comments and suggestions right from 2010 to 2011.

I am really proud of you KB100 fans.

Yes !! Me too ... I love my bike of 1995. I had not ridden it regularly since 2008 and have actually clocked just 192 kms between 2008 and 2011. I had left it covered in waterproof covers and cardboard packings till I moved back with my folks recently in 2011 and began the restoration. I should have clicked some snaps of it before I began the restoration.

I have got mine into running condition with a new paint job (original wine red color) however I've kept and bit darker to get the actual tinge once it starts fading.

However I am unable to find the fuel tank, side panel and rear faring monograms .. Can anyone help me ?? I am in Mumbai. If someone can send them to me I pay for them as well as the courier charges.

I am also unable to find the original seal beam so I have installed a Minda from a CB100 Hero Honda which is not fitting perfectly in the head lamp compartment though is doing a good job. Also got a new Exide battery, but had to get a new seat and put a fancy cover over it so it doesn't quiet look original.

Tomorrow 15th April 2011 I begin with the rust removal on the rims and leg guard. I am posting some snaps now and will keep this blog alive through out the complete restoration work.

    • was wondering when you were going to drop in here ,saw your post elsewhere......anyway welcome to xbhp dont use cd 100 head lamp on kbs man its small compared to kbs headlamp original lumax ones are impossible to source and the market is flooded with delhi make stuff of zero quality if you want you can use pulsar classics headlamp ,its a direct fit

since you are in mumbai parts wont be an issue contact bajajs office directly (spares division) they should be able to hook you up

for the tanks and side panels 2stroker had posted that he had a few parts for sale with his local dealer

download and keep the workshop manual and parts catalogue it will be your bible and will get you out most situations
and good luck on your restoration

Hey thanx for the welcome call.

I just got the original fuel tank, side panel and rear fairing graphics from Raj Kamal Scooter at Khira Nagar in Santacruz West Mumbai. Also found a K - Bajaj fuel tank monogram all for Rs.280/-

This chappie was saving it for over 10 years.

The entire last night I was unable to sleep and this morning I set out to find the graphics. An entire 5 hours spent riding to Andheri East Sai Service, then Mayur Scooter in Andheri East Chakala, then Versova link road (its a heaven for car and bike enthus), Kurla CST (scrap yard for bikes and cars), then to Milan subway lane (here I thought Milan scooter house will definitely have it however was not there). Finally, thought to give Rajkamal a try and viola i found it there.

I am uploading some snaps of before and after graphics.

The rust removal and polishing has been postponed for Sunday 17th April.

I found out by accident this evening that a product called "PARI" used to clean silver ornaments and articles will help in removing that black deposit on the holograms on the side panel. I have replaced the fuel tank hologram reading "bajaj" and replaced it with the KB125 "K-Bajaj"

Hey KB100 thanks for the foresight on the seal beam replacement however isn't the Pulsar 150 head lamp assembly and the compartment a different fit ??

I just got a call from Raj Kamal scooter house, saying they were able to find me a original seam beam with head lamp compartment however its for the Bajaj 4S and is the same one that was found on the KB100 and KB125.

Some more snaps from a different camera of after graphics installation and a new number plate. The original one if you see in one of earlier posts for a large square one that came originally with the bike which got rusted badly. Replaced it with a Acrylic one for Rs.70 with the writing and a new plate mount all inclusive.

Now I need some advise, the rear fairing has got its graphics however the part exactly above the tail lamp is blank. This part used to house the logo "bajaj" originally however unable to find it anywhere.

Any suggestions ?? where to put a Radium sticker reading "bajaj" ?? or "K-Bajaj" or "Kawasaki" or "RTZ"

          • Grt stuff Ritesh! Nows the time to strip the bike repaint, sandblast, chrome, zinc plate the parts. Since the tank and panel are brand new, a complete rebuild will give it a fresh new look.

            • if the head lamp is from 4s champion and is a lumax one grab it now you wont regret it.
as for the k-bajaj monograms they are from the 4s champion ,not kb125.

5 hours for stickers..... thats odd the ones i used were made in mumbai

as for the rear fairing the originals came with kawasaki in gold letters on a black background do not go for reflective ones here i dont think you can find them so get one cut

the seats had rtz printed in white on either sides

pulsar head lamp and dome are a direct fit

i will be doing some work on the kb soon......the rear wheel hub(brake drum) is shot and is beyond repair will have to replace it with one from caliber/pulsar classic/discover classic wii let you all know which one suits it best also an engine rebuild is in the cards

Yamdoot : I am in Mumbai - Juhu

the tank and the side panels are not new they are the originals that came with the bike in 1995. The tank was repainted (Bhatti paint as they call it) in 2009 and so were the side panels. Since then it was lying rusting at my folks house in the garage.

After I began the restoration, I just applied waxpol and left them to dry while still mounted on the bike. Then after getting the new graphics cleaned the surface and pasted them.

Today I began with the rust removal on the silencer and mud guard. But have not got any head way though the chrome began to shine yet the rust specs are still there. Maybe some hard bristles brush will help in removing rust some of the rust off the chrome and then we'll begin with the polishing.

As for the side panel holograms I came across this solution called Rooperi that I'll give a try maybe this evening or tomorrow to see it that helps in getting off that black deposit on them. Else my hunt to get new ones continues.

Uploading some more snaps taken today.

                  • @riteshpawar: note the circled portion in the pic there is supposed to be a rubber plug there its missing in the picture,is there a hole in that place in the crank case cover if it is then plug it immediately or dust and dirt will enter your engine and in all probability ruin your crank and bore...if you cant find the original thing then us the rubber caps of injection bottles it will be a push fit there

Thanx BigBore for the compliments and the welcome tag.

My bike is in Juhu and you are welcome to come and see it.

Do you know of any solution in the market that can help remove the rust off the chrome ? I checked with chrome treatments for the silencer and mud guards and it'll cost Rs.2500 for the silencer and 1500 each for the mudguards.

I am uploading some more pics of my bike in a seperate post
