Most definitely and it seems like my maiden trip to Ladakh is going to be solo one, got some probable partners but none of them confirming yet.

No personal experience on the Mughal road, never been through that route But I will try to ask around and hopefully get some useful time estimates for you..

Ride safe and have fun.

imp notice

In Ladakh, no need to apply for permits at DC's Office, Leh from May 1 onwards. ID cards such as DL/ PAN/ Aaadhar, etc should be carried as proof of Indian identity & will act as Inner Line Permits (ILPs). All popular places covered, but not places like Chushul, Tsaga, Demchok, Hanle & M la - for that, you have to still go to DC's Office in Leh. One more god news is that for those coming from Manali side, they can now go to Tso Moriri too direct.
Places which are covered by above mentioned process are Nubra Valley/Turtuk/Panamik, Pangong Lake, Tso Moriri & also Batalkik sector. Names which are missing are Marisimik la/ Chushul/ Tsaga/ Hanle/ Demchok/ Fukche

From 1st May onwards, one doesnt need to hassle up at Leh Office to get permits to places like Nubra Valley/Turtuk/Panamik, pangong tso lake, tso moriri and batalik sector.
DL, passport, adhar card, Pan Card, etc. can suffice the need to prove that you are indian citizen and free to go ahead.

Mik.. I asked my uncle (mamu) about the Mughal road and they said its mostly used by armed forces and the roads on almost whole stretch are non-existent and there would be a lot of snow even at this point time. They also said that till few years back, the road was not open to general public for our own safety (and they didn't knew about present scenario).

if you know someone who has done the Mughal rally last year (I think it takes place on the same road) that might be helpful to you.

Ride safe and have fun.

Thanks. Really appreciate it. I do know the situation last year as a few people did do that route. Supposedly the road is now all tarmac with only a few landslide prone areas. Not sure about snow in june though. Let's see how things pan out with some untoward activity also being reported.
