^^^Mik..Permits are still needed for Marsimik La.
It is very near to border and totally no man land.Very steep and complete off roading.
People have been turned back by ITBP even they have ILP for Marsimik la.

^^ Looks perfect! Since you do have buffer days, you could use one of the days for bike maintenance/service too as your overall run seems close to 5k km.

Hey guys some initial level planning going on here..just needed a bit of info..can "hunder-leh-pangong" & "pangong-pang" be done in day without rushing too much? And if can be done what sort of time would I need to depart to avoid nightfall

Yes.
Hunder-Pangong can be done via Wari La route. You dont need to go to Leh if you take this route. It connects Nubra valley to Shakti village,en route Pangong.
Route is -Hunder-Diskit-Khalsar-Agham-War La-Shakti and proceeds to Pangong.
You can also take Hunder-Diskit-Khalsar-Agham-Shyok-Durbuk-Tangaste-Pangong.
Pangong-Pang is also possible in a day if you start early.

Thanks for the reply. My mistake that I didn't mention when I'm planning to go, I'm planning to go early June and I've read that the Wari La route might be closed/blocked this early into the season or the Shyok might be difficult/impossible to cross? So i guess the only option would be to go through leh right? Again,is that possible?

And when you say start early does that mean around 5.30-6am?

Quite right...These routes open late and are in bad condition.
Hunder-Pangong is approx 320 kms...you can take take your call whether you can ride for 15-18 hrs or not??
From my side and experience,Hunder-Pangong in one day not advisable.
Do this section in 2 days comfortably and soak in the beauty of region.
No need to rush.

As Narender has already replied quite intelligently, I do second his advise.

Moreover, one doesn't have such golden opportunities to enjoy the beauty of mistique ladakh quite often.

Why make hasty retreat. I would even advise to go for Tso Moriri also from where you can go directly to Pang.

Reading this makes me want to do the trip again. In 2012, I had taken too may clothes and have now learned that one can make do with just two sets for the entire ride duration.
forcooler. The going is very slow, approx 15 to 18 kms per hour. You will take, as narender pointed out, about 18 hours. For what? To just complete the leg? Nay, my friend, don't do that. The place is just too beautiful to ignore the sights around. And you will arrive at Pangong totally bushed and very late in the evening, too late to see the lake in all its glory.

Hunder to Pang. Pangong to Pang is a really arduous route esp the Taglang La to Pang section. I had felt that for me and my bike, this was possibly the most difficult section in the entire journey. So, why hurry and worry? Add a day or two and enjoy!

@narender & @Hoodibaba and @icemang absolutely true..as i asked in the first post about whether it's possible without rushing.I wont do it in a rush, I'd rather cover less places and stay longer at each place. The funny thing is that the reason i was asking was to get an extra day and adjust for Tso moriri only :P

Btw is there any sort of link or post where I can get approximate times between two places. i'm pretty sure google maps is way too optimistic in the mountain regions.

thanks for the help till now tho :-)

oh and instead of double posting I'll just a question here..how do carry the jerrycans on their bike? I have a pulsar 220 and a viaterra claw with me currently.

Narender you are THE BEST person to reply his query about Pangong Lake to Tso Moriri route.

"Reading this makes me want to do the trip again. In 2012, I had taken too may clothes and have now learned that one can make do with just two sets for the entire ride duration."

I have not so far repeated any of my ride but as icemang has said he wants to repeat Ladakh trip, I might also do it for obvious reasons this year itself and there are thousands of reasons to repeat Ladakh ride.

This particular link has approximate times taken for each stretch. Do remember that it takes just a little bit of rain or snow or even a BRO roadblock for blasting (road widening/building activity) to screw up the potential time taken.

thanks

Instead carry two Pepsi 2 liters pet bottles.
They will fit in your saddle bags side pocket.

Ok so in a desperate attempt to not miss out on tso moriri or tanglang la.I'm thinking of this route(not rushing restrictions apply of course)

pangong-tso kar via tanglang la
tso kar-korzok
korzok-sarchu/pang
sarchu/pang-manali

A couple of questions arise:

1.Does tso kar have accomodation? I've heard that there are tents available but in small number.

2.If i take this route, assuming i fill up at Karu. the no fuel stretch is about 540 kms(till tandi)

On and average my bike gives about 30-32..For ladakh i would be a lil more cautious and say my bike will give 25.Considering that and the fact that i would not let my tank run dry as its an fi bike,i would like to leave about 2 litres spare. Therefore, i have a range of 16x25=400 + 100(bottled) = 500 kms.

I could of course somehow carry an extra litre or two here but just to be safe are there any bottled petrol sellers on the route I've mentioned incase I run dry?
