I actually like being alone on rides,infact pretty much all my big rides have been alone,but then having some company is fun too plus the additional safety bit.

The highway run in the plains point was exactly what I was making to a friend of mine yesterday lol.

thanks for the reassurance though.But i'm hoping the leh-manali highway opens up properly by June 16th(returning through there) :-)

You will be surprised to meet lots of solo bikers on Ladakh circuit due to the same reason people backing out at last minute.
You would be able to make some new friends,equally passionate about Ladakh and biking.
So go out and complete your ride,no looking back.It is worth every effort.
Once you embark on this solo journey,your attitude towards life would surely changes.

Soloride to Ladakh is more challenging than anywhere else in India because as soon as you enter Jammu, you are totally cut off on network (prepaid mobiles). (Better have a postpaid BSNL connection with you). It tends to get more tiring once you have covered Khardungla, as you have feeling to have accomplished the major challenge. But you have to stay focused and cover the remaining landmarks like Pangong Lake, Tso Moriri (since there is no hassle of getting permit for these places) besides the big challenge of driving all the way back to Mumbai after riding in Himalayas for over a fortnight.

Besides it is a bit more challenging to keep your emotions intact as every night when you get to bed all alone, you may get homesick because of no connectivity with the near and dear ones. Better way to overcome this is to interact more and more with the locals and the bikers who come across you at any point of time during this long ride. It gives a soothing effect and keeps your spirit high.

To conclude, I wish you best of luck. BTW I am a solorider and have covered most of India at 58+ age.

I need some advice aboit getting Leh'd. I'm a boy of 20 years, owning a 2013 TB350 with 12000 kilometers on it. I live in Gujarat where the roads are good and no ghats at all.
So my question is it sensible for me to ride to Leh this year in August or so?! Or should I gain more experience on riding normal roads and long distance riding. That's because I'm not much experienced in the long ride field.

You have the answer with yourself.
Its good to have temptations and to live for your dream ride, but it would be much worthy if you do it with proper preparation, know;edge and experience. After all its you who have to enjoy your own ride.

Guys, post reaching Delhi I would purchase engine oil and related stuff. Where in Delhi would I get oils, lubricants, etc. If possible, please share a GMaps pointer here. Understandably, I would prefer a cluster/zone of such shops rather than a single shop in some locality.

If you have one or two days for Delhi, just head straight to Karol Bagh (Metro connectivity), you will get all the things there. Or just post where you are going to stay, if I get something nearby, will let you know.

NOTE: On Monday market in Karol Bagh (scooter market) is closed. Please keep this in mind. I do agree that Karol Bagh is the best place for you to get all the stuff from a to z of Bikes and rides.
