    A youth from Chennai, who had gone on a trip to Leh, Jammu and Kashmir, died in a motorcycle accident at a mountain pass on Tuesday.

        i am riding to ladakh on 20th june.. hyderabad to delhi in train and then riding to manali-leh-ladakh- delhi...


        the tyre has done 8-10 k since new and have had a single puncture. grip wise the grooves and tread is pretty much decent however
        wanted to know if its safe to take the bike to the trip else change the tyre. i have had no air loss since that puncture but worried if it runs flat and what possibilities to get a tubeless tyre in ladakh or to repair it. incase it goes flat..

          I will be in Leh by 20th July time. I have few queries regarding the Pangong Tso Moriri circuit. I am planning to visit Pangong from diskit via Wari la.

          Now after filling at Karu, I head to pangong and then Tso Moriri. The fuel availability is a concern as CBR can take upto 350kms full tank only. Fron tso Moriri till Sarchu infact Thandi what is the availability of fuel? Is Tandi the only place for refill? I want to figure out how much fuel I will need to carry. Any help in this regard is really appritiated.

          Also is petrol pump in Padum operational?

          Edit-How will the weather be at end July time frame in Leh and surroundings.?

          Edit 2 - How is the availability of mechs and spare parts in Leh, will they look at CBR if god forbid something goes wrong? Parts and bits are available?

              A few things I can answer
              First decide how you are heading from pangong to tso-moriri. If you are heading back to Karu then you can refil there. Otherwise fuel availability is there at black market rates in Sumdo (Narender ji last year fuelled up there) I would say, better to figure out a way to carry 10 liters of extra fuel on the bike.
              End July should be rainy :-)
              For the CBR, the biggest concern are the stock tyres which are simply not cut-out for that terrain. Apart from that, you won't get any specific spare parts of the CBR in Leh. Mechanics there have been working on bullets/zma/220s for ages. Not sure if they have any expertise on CBR. If your alloy goes out of shape - there is one guy in Leh who can set it right (misplaced his contact info). It would be better if you carry some basic spare parts with yourself.

                Thanks for the suggestions I intend to fill up at Karu as I am taking the Wari La route back to Pangong Tso.

                I have MRFs on my CBR and not Contis, so I am hoping that the tyres should not be a problem. Yes I am carrying basic spares so that I can take care of minor issues if any come by. Hope all goes well

                  left/right brake/clutch lever
                  some wire
                  fuses.
                  spark plug if you have an extra.
                  basic spares.
                  med kit.
                  chain lube.
                  brain lines bleeded well.
                  coolant top-up
                  brake pads checked..
                  engine oil change..

                  cbr parts highly doubtful
                  unless you have a fatal engine failure. rest can be check and sorted out. i am riding from 20th onwards..
                  dunlop rear + IRC front..

                  safe ride..all the best..

                    For safety, do carry foot rests as well. Rest all are checked and ticked in my checklist too

                      will reach manali by 9th June

                      unable to hit Ladakh due to scarcity of leaves
                      but what all places can I visit in a 2 days time to & from manali

                      was considering chandratal lake but heard can't reach beyond batal

                        Its a little bit off topic ...but I am planning leh in july ....on a four wheel ...and want to go through the srinagar route and return ny manali route ...so can anybody help me with the route details .

                              Jeevan,carry extra tubes for rear and front tire for your CBR.
                              Circuit has numerous off road section full of boulders and a dent/bend in your alloy rim may occur anytime.Your tire will loose air pressure in case of busted rim so tubes will come handy in such a scenerio.
                              As far as spare fuel is concerened,carry extra fuel in pet bottles from Karu itself.However petrol in black rates is available in village Lower Sumdo,en route to Tso Moriri.You can also purchase petrol at Pang and Sarchu in black rates.
