  • Drained motul 7100 from my slingshot+ after 6500kms,mechanic said it was still in great condition(drained oil had slightly darkened but still in nice thickness ) but did not want to take risk as trips are coming up,poured in Gulf 20W40,costs 270rs for a liter(got a 10rs coupon from inside) i`m a bit disappointed with immediate result, gulf oil had good reviews here in xbhp, Anyway going back to motul next time

Which oil were you using prior to Motul? And what was the price when you bought the 7100?

I've turned the bike in at the regular ASC. They've quoted approx 1500 for Motul 7100 20W50 (775/ litre , bike needs 1.2 l ).

I had three bikes, sold one. Now have two bikes. 7100 price is more or less the same here too. I've used mostly Shell and Valvoline in my bikes for the most part, and now switched to Motul, after using it in my 220. The performance is all rounder for all bikes. Never switch brands, it's Motul for me, personally.

        Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Sometimes oil takes time to show its true colours in perfromance, maybe a few kms after usingit migth give a different character to the bike.

The Motul 7100 is a single ester Fully synthetic oil whereas the Gul Pride 20w40 is a mineral oil...there is a world of difference in the oil composition and they are as different as Chalk and Cheese. Mineral oil will last only for 2~3 k Kms only...

            • So far I had completed 400 kms with Rimula R3X diesel oil of 15w40 grade...morning starts are easy, Gear shifts are very smooth, engine is able to accelerate
very well, and oil is still Golden Yellow like when it was new....The oil level is also the same, and when I checked the oil thickness in cold and hot condition, by
applying a drop between fore finger and thumb, and separating the fingers,...I found very little change....The FE for the first 150 Kms was 32 Kms per liter....
I am keeping a check on it and will know in another 2~3 days.....The plug looks cleaner though a bit of ash deposit could be seen....due to higher sulphated
              ash of diesel oil...

Having a similar experience. Was happily using 300V 15W50 for almost 20K kms on my Joeled R15 and was happy with the way it performed(Though it didn't last more than 2.5-3K backed by top ups). Heard rave reviews about Petronas Sprinta FS(W40) and thought of giving it a try(ofcourse no comparison of 900 Rs oil vs 430 Rs oil. Just that I wanted to use Sprinta for 1500 Kms and change it frequently, just we do with mineral oil ). The experience since than has been very bad. Vibes crept in, shifts gone harder, engine sounds harsher and the oil not even lasts 1000 kms. Just doing away with the stock I had procured, with oil changes frequently. Sometimes you need to see for yourself to judge

As I mentioned earlier "Sometimes you need to see for yourself to judge ". Just sharing my experience. And yes, I too had come across many good reviews before I tried.

Go for SS for 5K Kms and then switch to fully synthetic. There isn't any clear cut rule to use which, you can use whichever you want, but from what I've heard from people, using fully syn is recommended after 8K+ KMS.

                          Cheers!

Both are basically the same oil, used them both, you can't find any difference whatsoever. Go ahead, use both of them, both are time tested.
