So, happy with shell SS experience, I have bought Shell FS oil for INR745 today for my next oil change. Shell attendant has promised drain period of 9000kms !!! Looking fwd to changing to this once my current oil is finished. Will update my experience here in due course..

    • Where can i get petronas oil in bangalore ?
I tried searching most shops in JC road but none of them had any.

One shop had a bottle which was imported in 06/2008..
Do oils have a shelf life ? i didnt buy it coz it looked too old.

Does anyone have the contact number of petronas head office ?
i tried mailing them but it seems the email id isn't valid []

        • I recently shifted to ELF MOTO 4 GOLD (20w40) for my GS150R (was initially using the Castrol Activ 4T oil from suzuki service till 6500km). Read some positive reviews about this oil so shifted to it

I have done 100km and I feel that the engine is getting heated quickly. gear shifts are better. I feel that the pickup has dropped and thye mileage has improved (was getting between 45-50 initially but now I am getting 50+)

I am a bit confused (because of engine heating and lack of pickup) whether to continue with this oil or shift to any other

Rajesh, if you notice the Helix Ultra it has a rating of SM/CF that makes it suitable for Gasoline & Diesel engine oil isn't it? Only difference being 5W-40 instead of 20W-40. The JASO FC stuff you're talking about is Japanese standards, while you can see this is being rated by API/ACEA (US & EU). Why do you think this is not suitable?

Also if you can throw some light on the wet clutch & damages, it would help much.

It is just that the Orion guy seems to be a dealer for AGIP and is promoting it.

A synthetic oil should not cause clutch slippage unless you have used a car oil rated API SL or SM. But to my knowledge the oil you have used is Motorbke oil. Get your clutch checked. Sometimes clutch plates change behavior all of a sudden after service & oil change.

if you have a clutch slippage, that might explain the reason for your point # 3 & 4.

i dont think it is a prob. cos never heard of expiry date for engine oils.

P220's engine!!! Well, check this out from BCM touring on P220's engine - Which Bike? Pulsar 220/Zma/R15/FZ6/ CD100? - India Travel Forum, BCMTouring

I don't intend to argue but to learn through debate; I see most of the engine oil makers manufacturing the engine oil to be used for both Diesel & Gasoline engine oil which is indicated by SM/CF. Besides if you look at the grade Ultra is 5W-40 compared to Yamaha's recommendation 20W-40. So how do you say Ultra should damage the clutch plates? Appreciate an insight.

Although it is not mentioned clearly what the expiry date/shelf life of oil is, but if I was you, I would not buy a bottle of oil that was packed 2 year back.

You can see this for reference (you'll have to scroll to the bottom of page)

Car Bibles : The Engine Oil Bible

I was browsing a forum and some guy used a 10 year old bottle. It was eggyolk-like at the bottom. I would not take a chance of buying even a 2 year old bottle.
