Helmets

A big mistake from buying there, you not only paid the maximum cost of helmet in city but also got a duplicate one. If possible revert your transaction and take the money back. Please avoid this shop. Btw how much did you pay for your cross helmet?

oh my god

but how can you be so sure that it is duplicate. how do i proove it to the shop that it is duplicate.

i paid Rs. 2500/=

is it possible that a big, reputed and very old shop like "champion sports" sells duplicate products.

Go ahead and knock yourself out again with the helmet quality, the big fat ogre out there surely knows how to cheat customers.

2500 for that helmet woaahhh, go to laxmi auto near city and get it for much less than that.

Rs2500 mein Gpump helmets are available. Iam looking for the same but dont have the time as occupied with office work, btw this would be my 6th helmet in 8 years of riding, completely know that guy. About Vega yes he sells genuine stuff but about cross think twice and about the price stay miles away from that guy.

i told them may be your helmets are lying unsold for long time that why this is happening, but he said -NO this is not old stock.

although it is in no way hampering the normal working of helmet or protection it is offering but peace of mind is gone.

If all the helmets do have the same problem, then it's wise to return it back to the distributor and opt for a refund. Problems do come even in the high-end of the helmet, just because it has some defect doesn't mean it's fake, maybe a manufacturing defect.

But then, wasting hard earned money on something usually hurts our ego too much, and I know how it feels very well

I came across this website: BikeGear : Helmets and Bike gears in India at lowest price with free shipping for the purchase of LS2 Helmets. Can anyone give me reviews of the website if they have come across this? Is it trustworthy?

Try asking them for warranty and where do they source their helmets from. A genuine dealer would be crisp in his response, and moreover get all your doubts clarified before purchasing from a new vendor. Because there is a high chance they might be a rip off of genuine ones.

I came across this site long back, but haven't made any purchase here. Be double careful when you source LS2, CROSS and SPARX, since there are a lot of fakes in these categories.

Best of luck

Cheers!

ok, i was overcharged, we will discuss that later.

first tell me how to check, whether it is original or duplicate?

and how to prove to the shop that it is duplicate?

i know it hurts our ego, but i don't have time now to look for another helmet. if the helmet is genuine, i will live with that liner padding cloth.

anyway to check.

Posting and informing is the only thing that you can rely on. Besides, check for the price, check for the quality. Thats all from my side. You can rely on it or else sunday is not that far for your replaced pad helmet.

All the best buddy.

2500?? You can add 200-300 bucks more and get LS2 helmets. far better than Cross.

What warranty period should they be telling me? Since I have asked a few vendors and they say that, "How can we give warranty? What if you have a serious accident and Helmet has to take all the blow so what sort of warranty should be give you? Doesn't make sense." Somewhat logical and true.

Regarding the source of the helmets, what source that he tells should I believe??

price is not an issue. the issue is whether it is duplicate or original.

the model i brought is ECE certified. and was a bit tight on budget and too tight on time.

meanwhile i asked "champion sports" the guy said that the distributor of pune is laxmi automobiles. which is true as per CROSS website.

anyway to check whether it is original or duplicate.

You got it wrong. When buying a helmet, it's always adviseable to buy the helmet in person, and not over the wire. Since I made that mistake and paid a price for that. So from that day on, never recommend online helmet buying.

By warranty what I meant is, check for manufacturing defect, ie loose pad holders, loose or broken fins, broken open/close mechanisms, broken visor springs, scratched visor, etc etc. As you buy from online, it's easy for people to loot people saying it's a good piece and blame on teh transporter for any mishap. I've experienced it.

Regarding sources, ask them from where did they source the helmet from, is it China or elsewhere. Because even both good and fakes are made in China, just to make sure the seller knows something and that we don't make a fool of ourselves buying fake. You can see his reaction and then judge, pretty elementary, if you ask me.

Genuine parties give some sort of warranty on whatever they sell. Now it doesn't mean those who doesn't offer guarantee is selling fake gears, but then at least he is able to return it free of cost and replace if there is any defects.

Always take your time to check the helmet, fit, finish and go for it only when you're satisfied, else just don't go for it, even if the seller insists. It's hard-earned money, you don't wanna give it to someone for free, literally.

Now, what you meant regarding accidental damage is your fault, you can't blame the distributor for that. Either if the helmet is fake or genuine, if you've damaged it thru crash or whatsoever, it's your fault. So that doesn't come into the equation.

Hope it clears some doubts.

Cheers!

....anyway to check whether it is original or duplicate.

It's really hard to discern whether it's original or fake, unless you've seen the same original helmet worn by others. It's the only way to know. No one is gonna say they are selling fake for that matter. It's upto us on what we buy. How ever cautious we're, once we're into shopping mode, we tend to ignore every cautiousness and fall in love, once we see the product. TRAP for us, CATCH for sellers.

If you're not satisifed, try returning it to them Prince that's the only thing and as Eshan said, it's really hard to comment on how to find a fake one from a original one. They are almost made neck-to-neck in all standards.

Only time will tell about their quality. Cheap glue, poor stitching, feathered straps all tell tale signs of a fake.

True - but - you can buy online if you've been able to try out the product elsewhere for sizing. I've bought online many times from abroad - and yet to get the wrong size because I normally would first try for size amongst friends or even at a store in India!

Again, true. BUT - Warranties offered by manufacturers reflect the confidence they have in the quality of the product they've made. No manufacturer in the world offers warranty against mishap - quality brands do however offer warranties against manufacturing defects , so the shop-keepers defense is just bull*hit masking another real fact. He most probably cannot offer a warranty because the source is not genuine or his supplier is not in a position to offer a warranty. This can be because the supplier does not have proper documentation for the import or he's evading taxes. Either way, this vague or irrelevant replies will normally mean that no warranty is possible since every manufacturer worth his salt will demand a bill is produced to validate the warranty claim. PRS who deals with many imported products offers warranty cover if you produce a bill that shows a genuine purchase.

My advice would be to identify the authorised dealers of a brand and buy only with a proper bill that will validate the warranty.

Regarding sources, ask them from where did they source the helmet from, is it China or elsewhere. Considering that most helmets in the world are today produced in China or its whereabouts, this is difficult to ascertain. In most cases, dealers themselves don't know the source of the goods. They're mostly merchants trading in a commodity and MONEY is the only language that they understand. 9 out of 10 dealers that I've met know nothing about the products they sell, certification, sizing, or even fitting of a helmet. They have a commodity and want you to buy it - simple.

Genuine parties give some sort of warranty on whatever they sell. Now it doesn't mean those who doesn't offer guarantee is selling fake gears, but then at least he is able to return it free of cost and replace if there is any defects.

Absolutely agree - most of the information required for a proper purchase decision is available with a little research and some application of mind.

[mulli84]

certainly yes! you can find many helmet dealers having LS2s in GP road and also the shops near greams road..some are, Sri padham helmets GP road, helmet paradise, pioneer helmets etc near greams road.. LS2 varies between 1900 - 2800 INR..I got my LS2 speed 7 months back for 2400 at sri Padham helmets.

Thx very much. I will purchase in 2 weeks. And it fits in my budget.

Guys, does anyone know about AGV helmets sold with an ISI mark?? That's right...Hemant Chheda from AH Helmets, Mumbai (auth dealer for SOL) tells me that the AGV at his store at 12.5> are the Italian imports while the ones <10k which may arrive in 1 mnth are Indian ones with an ISI mark He said they are not MPA but are branded 'AGV'
That sounds very dubious and I'm wonderin if anyone's seen or know about those Indian AGVs...

The cheapest AGV's that I know of are about 10k abroad. Considering that AGV doesn't have an official retail presence in India ( unless I'm mistaken ), an imported unit if genuine should cost about 13k minimum - I talking abt the plain colours of the entry level K3. So if you're getting "imported" for less than this ask many questions!

I have seen however the original MPA-AGV's being relaunched now as just AGV, made in India but frankly not very impressive. They seem a slightly rehashed version of the older MPA models. Here is a link - AGV Helmets for India | throttlers.net

Interestingly, AGV, which is now owned by Dainese, bought out an Indian company in Gujarat, Sabre Helmets to manufacture AGV helmets for export to other countries. Sabre Helmets have ISI certification, so I'm assuming that the helmets above are the ones the dealer is talking about. Here's a link for the list of ISI manufacturers - http://nicdc.nic.in/CMMS/InternetRep...stt=&strBrand=

The twist in the tale is that this factory seems essentially geared for the export market and some of the helmets manufactured here are certified even for the Australian market and it seems that AGV is using cheap Indian labour to produce some of their helmets right here in India! How's that for a kick in the pants to the Chinese?

I read about it a while back, regarding AGVs venture as its own in India, but had no clue as to where they manufacture or which local company did they tie up with to, thanks for that sir.

Also, I am sure we Indians would do a better job than Chinese guys when it comes to exporting by manufacturing it locally. IMHO

really sad that a new helmet is giving you such a problem,so what was the final word with the champions sports owner?
