Let me share my experience too then just to let people know why I call Vega plastic buckets.
Helmets I personally had/used were Autogreen, Vega Formula HP and Boolean, Studds Rhyno. My current one is DOT LS2, the first lot that came from Spain, yes the rarest one and thats why I could not source its visor till now.

Autogreen was stolen within days of me buying it and that was way back in 2005.
Vega Boolean's so called flip up almost took off when it fell from my hand (could imagine what would happen in a crash)
Vega Formula HP, still somewhere in my junkyard, can be bent with just my hands.
Studds Rhyno is way better than the Vegas

And of course not to mention the discounts that are sometimes available online & not at the brick n mortar stores.
The idea is not absurd (at least not as absurd as selling undergarments online ), but just another choice for the customer

PS: I ordered my helmet from a dealer in Chennai because i couldn't find it in Hyderabad.. it was over email/phone and back then I was wishing someone sold them online at reasonable prices including shipping
I am very sorry if "absurd" came as some rough expression. What I only meant by stating my post was that every thing around us has a purpose. Sometimes the addition of purposes improves the usage and sometimes it fails. Buying general purpose stuff is ok but dedicated stuff needs some dedicated shops (whether online/offline).

Although we already had this discussion many-many times before as well, but just FYI ISI is indeed a good (if not the best) standard for safety guidelines related to helmets but the home players have been making a lot of fun out of the lose law enforcement in our country. You will appreciate my words further more if you take a look at the new models from these "brands"

Though we have a lot of worrying products these days in the market from Indian manufacturers, who have stamped them as ISI certified, still there are a few models which are "really good for what you pay"

And it really shows a lot of lack of respect & information in oneself when you fail to recognize a fake/faulty helmet labeled with ISI and keep on chatting that "ISI helmets feel flimsier". If you take a closer look at the construction of the chin protector of many of the ISI labeled helmets available in the market from these home-name brands, you will realize that there is no shell at all and it is all plastic. That is why when you try to press it with both hands it feels flimsier even if the shell at the crown is good enough for our everyday use. And please do not compare ISI with DOT/ECE ( you know why )

Warm Regards,

A HUGE majority of real and FAKE ISI shod helmets feel like toilet mugs. and yes there is a lack of respect where they show a lack of concern towards absolute safety. And everyday use? I'd want my head to be protected best no matter if it was everyday or if I was hurtling down Ehra-Lessien at the speed of sound. I find it a necessity to compare them bro, coz these helmets are approved by the government and won't stand even on test for any international standard, appalling if you ask me.

If you have any anger and concern, then take it down on to the real culprit ......... the manufacturers ............ file a lawsuit and pursuit them to the justice that they deserve. ISI is still the same as it was before. And you know it way too well how things are approved from a government office, so there is no point draining out your energy on an already good standard. That is what I am appealing here. Any rule/law is generally framed as per the economy and the population at hand, ours being a very populous nation is not so stringent on safety standards, which stands as the cruel reality. We even have relaxed emission norms as compared to Euro ones (and so we are allowed to cause more pollution), but does that mean that you have started to ride one European machine ?

All this discussion over the past few posts started just because i mentioned flipkart was selling helmets look at where it has snowballed to ! xpranav - @your last cpl of posts : i agree & that' what i was saying/implying in my prev posts. You gotta use your head (pun intended, if any) when you judge/buy helmets.
btw, i liked how you put it - We even have relaxed emission norms as compared to Euro ones (and so we are allowed to cause more pollution), but does that mean that you have started to ride one European machine ?

Anyways, can anyone tell me if the Sparx visor is switchable with any other helmet; those ventilators are real handy when foggy?

Don't exactly know if Sparx's visors are switchable or not but yes the ventilators are really good on the go...if you stop in a traffic the inside would get doggy.

Looks cool indeed, but why the aversion to full face helmets? A fall > 25 kmph can be lethal with these kinda buckets!
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Ouch! Damn I should have asked before ordering. But I do have a full faced helmet for LS2.

But everyone told me for cruiser bike open face helmet is good. So I went and ordered this. The retailer shipped the item already. So i guess I'm stuck with it.

Not to discourage you, but an open face helmet only looks cool. Anyways, you can use it for photoshoots. Avoid wearing it. Not only would it not provide protection to the lower face, it would be a pain is dusty areas too.
