Thanks riot I guess, now I got it so no choice now, but I got a good color and it looks rare...
nagoo You sure Studds Shifter is DOT?

Anyhow guys, I have a confusion, on website SOL says its ECE/ DOT approved, but I couldn't find any signs of ECE approval on it. The seller says that depending on market, only one certification is mentioned.
And SOL is not even listed as a manufacturer on SHARP Website, which seems fishy as every ECE helmet must be there, technically.

So, does SOL actually have ECE certification, and is there a link for the same?

Samarth 619: Studds is ISI certified.
If you are riding below 120 range, the Shifter is a very decent buy. The comfort of the internal visor makes up for the wind noise!
I must have posted a review earlier. Do look it up.

Planning to buy a new helmet soon.
please help me decide between :

1.studds shifter
Heard many good words for this one.

2.vega axor

3.vega off road helmet
Don't know whether it is even recommend for on road use or not.

Or any similar in this price range.

Shifter is a good choice, if you can find the spares at your retailer. The padding is of a combination of artificial leather and cloth, which breaks down with time.

Off roading helmet can be used for road use, its not prohibited as such.
But its specifically made for off road use, which means it covers the visor from splashing mud and dust and that means its difficult to wipe and clean the visor... it does reduce the field of vision too, but that means it blocks the sun's rays too partially, which is mostly a good thing...

Can't comment on the studds shifter because haven't used it. The Vega Axor is good and the padding is also good u can consider it.
Have used the Vega off road helmet and I would not recommend it to anybody unless you like the wind blasts on face it only serves the purpose for aesthetics. There are huge wind blasts on face once you cross the speeds of 70kmph. It sways left and right and causes huge amount of distraction and it can prove to be fatal to.
Now coming to the padding its so thin that u can insert your whole hand when the helmet is on.
Now coming the shitty sun visor it becomes it didn't even survive for even one month I am not a harsh user I used to take proper care of the helmet.

Now the last part the main visor. Now this was a major issue(especially for me) when the visor is open to the highest point then also is obstructs your vision.

Thanks.

1. Used it for couple of days : Loved it for its build and super finish. for 2k INR this helmet is VFM , Only downside being it still looks pretty bland ( i prefer LS2 designs )
2. My friend uses it, Its a good helmet , but doesnt have secondary (tinted) visor i believe.
3. I own this and this is utter crap. I had ordered it because it had tinted visor but practically its useless as it sways a lot above 75kmph which is my cruise speed.
Carb Tuning made easy (Thanks Sibun !)

SOL is only DOT self approved, since its not sold in US, so DOT cannot and need not test it, you will have to depend on the word of the manufacturer to trust them, which is a bit hard to do. SOL claims to be manufacturer of GMAX helmets in US which are DOT tested,

anyway, I dont trust manufacturers word alone with my life as all helmet makers make such claim. I got an HJC from USA instead.

SHARP only lists manufacturers whose models are currently or in past are sold in UK markets. SHARP purchases helmets from open markets and test them. "A listing on SHARP" does not mean anything more, it only means SHARP had tested them. Check the Star rating of SHARP for test performance.

never mess with the paint on a helmet, the helmet paint is carefully selected by manufacturer so as not to react with the polycarbonate material of the helmet. Anything else will spoil and make the helmet weak, the damage paint did to the helmet will not be visible until you crash.

no chemical cleaners should be used, same reason as above , most of them reacts in some way making it weaker.

Did you know UV makes helmet weaker ? so if its dull you better change the helmet.

if you can get the original padding from the manufacturer you can do it. Most foreign brands sell the lining separately, Studds and indian brands dont,
and dont even think about changing the white EPS.

buy a new helmet instead.

if you cant buy, use the old ugly one, no one would bother about your shattered weak helmet with an awesome paint job if it could not save the head.
