Dio h/l runs on DC? I guess not. Hence, HIDs will not be supported. Kelvin is the colour temperature of the bulb - how warm or cool the light from the bulb LOOKS. It is not related to heat dissipation at all.Originally posted by Vishwas Bharadwaj View PostGuys I need help in the Installation if HID bulbs for my 2010 Honda Dio.I inquired about the same from an accessory shop located in J.C.Road and the salesman quoted the prices of three different HID bulbs and the one with the highest price tag of 1750 Rupees with power rating of 35 watt and Heat dissipation of 8000 kelvin which comes with a one year GUARANTEE.I was mighty impressed with this but I am afraid that this bulb will cook my multi-reflective coating! Is this possible?
Also I asked him to show me a bulb with a power rating of 35 watt and heat dissipation of 4000 kelvin to which he replied to me by stating that the he does not have them and the HID bulb with the price tag of 1750 rupees is perfectly alright for the Dio and that it does not blacken the coating! Is this true?and can someone please guide me as to what should be the Ideal HID bulb for my Dio?

@Navnish, Kinshuk can you guys help here? This information is awesome. Thank you Abhijit and Navnish. I will go around shopping soon and get this done as soon as I can. I will post once Im done.Originally posted by navnish View PostA h7 bulb will be a single beam. What you can do is buy a h4 bixenon hid 4300k and use it for the headlight you will need to do a small jugad to fix the h4 but its not impossible . The output will be good enough for any rides. I have done a few bullets in the past and the bullet guys are happy with the output.
buy a 35w / 40w / 55w h4 bixenon mod the patti to fix it in your headlight and your done. The battery can take it provided you dont have any fancy horns / gadgets .Motorcycle Trip log - Summer ride to N. Sagar | Leh 2012 - A story told in pictures | Winter in Darjeeling 2018 | Summer in Goa 2018 |

My bad!Well HID bulbs for Dio's are possible as four Dio's in our college have them and one in particular has Angel eyes too!Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostDio h/l runs on DC? So,is the 8000K bulb perfectly alright for my Dio?Also, should certain modifications so that it does not drain the Batteries or are the 35W HID lights a direct bolt on?Grocery shopping:2010 Honda Dio.

That is what the issue will be. It will not run for long time at a stretch.Originally posted by Vishwas Bharadwaj View PostMy bad!Well HID bulbs for Dio's are possible as four Dio's in our college have them and one in particular has Angel eyes too!

8000k is bluish white, good for show, bad for actually viewing the road. 4300k is perfect white. Rest is your preference.Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

Change to autopal ambassador P43 type sealbeam... Perfect fit for all H4 bulbs including HIDsOriginally posted by madelikeagun View PostThanks Abijit,
That was quick. Yes, I have been following the Hella story. Since I have posted my last query, I have been reading through the entire forum, thats a lot of pages. Your opinion about 4300K only makes me reaffirm to go for the 3200K.
I will think about Fog lamps after im done with the Head lamp. This leaves me with few more questions left.
- What bulb plug is compatible. Current stock is HS1. I read else where H7 is a straight fit. I need confirmation.
- Also will my reflector handle the 35W HID? Any heating issues. Will the light Focus correctly.
- My Bull's battery configuration is 12V 14Amps. The 18 Pole Magneto generates 220 watt. Thunderbird website says this is to facilitate external electrical accessories. Can I further add two 35 watt Fog lamps?

But my friend has installed HID's on his Dio and it's running perfectly for over two years but unfortunately he does not remember any of the particulars!Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostThat is what the issue will be. It will not run for long time at a stretch.

The only reason I'm willing to go for HID's is due to the ineffective intensity of the stock halogen's on my Dio,currently!
So,will I get HID's[4300K]?because the salesman told me that the lowest one that he's got is the 6000K HID!!
BTW,thanks for the reply it was really informative. Also please tell me whether the installation of HID's affect the performance of the battery.Last edited by Vishwas Bharadwaj; 06-03-2011, 12:51 PM.Grocery shopping:2010 Honda Dio.

Battery should last for half an hour atleast per night. Rest, since you said it worked for your friend, i guess it will work out fine during limited runs. But, dont expect it to run overnignt or so. So, its good enough if you ride equally during the day too and recharge the battery.Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

But @ the Half an hour part,I'm afraid about the scoot's self starter not working if I prolong my usage!!Can you suggest me any alternatives?I cannot afford another recharge for the battery as the scooter is my mom's!!:O.Should I use HID's with lesser power rating[If available!!]Grocery shopping:2010 Honda Dio.

wanted to know the difference between hid bulbs and metal bulbs. Had seen one some 3-4 years back in a karizma. It was not round or tube type in shape. Rather it was multi dimensional. Diamond kind of. Not transparent also. Opaque and shiny. If seen, you would feel there's mercury or something inside it. Had a lot of lighting. Once i thought it was hid but then the owner said those were metal bulbs. Said those were cheaper than hid but produced almost equal lighting with one drawback, excessive battery drain and he actually had lost the upper beam. He said the upper beam fused off. He also said those were ideal for cars. I know you might be thinking i know enough of metal bulbs, already then why asking, but i wanted to know the basic difference between them.Originally posted by navnish View Postwhat difference you want to know ? and what is metals ?

The alternative is a bit complex - you have to rewind the stator coil on the bike and fix the APE RR unit. Its not a layman's job.Originally posted by Vishwas Bharadwaj View PostYes,I've mailed him and i'm expecting replies!

AFAIK, HIDs are min 35W only.Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

Whoever gave you that information - Please do your homework.Originally posted by danny king View PostWhy are people crazy about HIDs? It drains the battery faster.
Explain to me how can a 35W HID consume more power than a 35W halogen??? HIDs are energy efficient. If you want more info, our Wikipedia will give you a good class.
In Halagon, majority of the radiation is heat, minority is Light.
In HID, majority of the radiation is light, minority is Heat.
Yes with a cheap make HID and wrong wiring/circuit setup your battery will drain. In this scenario there is only one person to blame.
