Cause my unicorn , when switched over to high beam ; the focus hits about 25-30 degree upwards which is of no use to me.Any suggestions are welcome
normally there is a screw or nut beneath the headlight to adjust the throw of the beam... get it adjusted from the service center...

since unicorn is AC supply i dont think it will be possible to install higher capacities (like 55/55W) headlamps in it....

for better lighting you will have to go for full dc conversion of the bike and then install bigger capacity bulb or HID.....

it should, as i have a FZ and i can use 55/55w bulb or an HID easily... the higher wattage bulbs do improve the lighting to some extent

If you just want to install a higher watt halogen bulb, you don't need to convert the bike to ALL DC.
you can straightaway plonk a 55w bulb and see.
as it runs on AC, it will tend to glow nice at higher rpms, you should be satisfied.

yeah you will be able to use a projector... but let me clear you H3 bulb is single bulb it will not have dual beams....

now there are two types of projectors:

              1. one with dual beam
              2. one with single beam

for more details pls visit this link:

yes it can be done... have done it previously and it worked fine.... all you need to remember is that the types of HID and the halogen bulb does not mix...

                      • Aux. HID

                        Hey Guys,
Im following this thread since a long time, I own a Zma 2004 model.
was never satisfied with the lighting.
The reason being, 2 poles of my stator coil were smoked.
Rewinding was an issue, as I had a talk with nano, and he said, the coil of a Zma was a 3-phase coil, it had 18 poles.
So i bought a new stock coil..
I knew a stock Zma coil can produce upto 188W of power, I plonked a 60/55 Osram general Halogen, The throw was good. I loved it, and was satisfied.

Later while cleaning my cupboard, where i usually keep all my bikes parts, i saw a HID kit, which was lying there, since the poles were burnt, my battery couldn't take it, so i had removed it about an year ago.
Suddenly, the thought of fitting it the way doc fit his HID on his bike came to my mind,

I had already fitted a leg guard, so i went ahead and bought a DCM toyota Seal beam, It was Autopal Make. also a RX100 Dome and the Ring with the Clips that hold the sealbeam in place.

then I removed the Halogen and the Shield from the HID Holder.

                        Fitted it in,
And got the Angles welded today and mounted the Thing,
The electricals had to be taken care of,
I had a Talk with dada, (drvmtm a.k.a Doc), he enlightened me with the ideas from fitting the switch to the kind of relay, and everything.

So i purchased a 30Amp relay(Car Headlight Relay) It had dual beam connectors and i only needed 1.
                        It came with a coupler.
Powered the relay through a connection from the Parking lights under the seat.

and took out connection from the battery separately which goes to the relay(Red) which was seated right next to the blinker,

The ballast was made to hang from near the Air box and above the starter.

No cutting was done from the ballast to the HID as suggested by doc.
So all the things were in place, and i got to switch on the HID after hitting the highway, the beam was not straight,
It was then i realized, that the sealbeam was not tested and fitted.
So i came home, opened the housing, adjusted the sealbeam and mounted again to check, it was a trial and error method, finally i got what i wished for,
The beam is still not in the center, its to the left by around 65%.

I mounted it to the left side of the guard so as to not cause any inconvenience to oncoming traffic.
I would mostly be using it on the highways where i travel the most.
Here are a Few Beam Pics

                        No Light

                        With High Beam Halogen

                        Low beam Halogen

                        HID only

                        HID and Low Halo.

                        HID and High Halo

Here the Light from the Halo. is completely dissolved.

Finally, i am satisfied with the results. The throw is great.
and my bike looks neat too.

                        Comments and queries are welcome.

                          The hid is too good.
Strictly keep it on only on the highways.

Besides tell me was it a H4 type of bulb, if yes then shouldn't it have a glare shield as well as a hi/lo electro magnet mechanism ?

After seeing these pics i am very much tempted to put an HID on my high beam too, but 100w are way too much.

Keep an eye on the stock reflector, my friend has slightly burnt his ZMA's reflector with a phillips 60/55w bulb already.
Giving a lot to a fiero.

Yes my HID was a H4 type, and its about 2 years old, at that time HID Kits had just started showing up here in bhopal, and the electromagnet ones were too expensive, i could not go home to pune anytime soon, so had to purchase this.
It did not have any electro magnet, but it had a stationary shield and a halogen.
