  • How to improve lighting on my Yamaha RX-Z?

    Guys,

I own a Yamaha RX-Z 5 Speed which has a Philips 35W regular Halogen and the lighting is very poor, I would like to go for Philips HID, Osram Night Breaker, etc. that improves lighting..can anyone pls. suggest me what all needs to be done to improve lighting (not interested in changing the aesthetics of the bike).

    • HID for FZ-S

      Hi,

I own a FS-S, a month old. Most of the time I'm travelling in the night. I found the stock light to be useless. Can anybody help / guide me on changing it to a good HID without sacrificing the performance / original looks of the bike. I have knee guards as well.
Can anybody suggest any mechanic in Pune? Want to do it before rainy season...

      Cheers,
      Abhijit

if you want a good headlight for rainy season i will suggest you to go for HID 3000K color temperature... you can contact Navnish for the same...

fitting an HID is a simple job and can be done by anyone... if any problems in installing feel free to contact me....

but let me warn you any kind of headlight is useless in rainy season because the light just reflects away from you on the wet roads...

A good one costs around 3k but you get cheaper ones too at around 1700...
the best ones i.e. of Philips and osram costs around 6k per HID and they come in pair....

the shop you are buying it from will do the installation or you can do it yourself...

                Hi Kinshuk,

Thanks a lot for the reply. I may go with the option you suggested also will check out the option of Philips.
Yes, even with HID I may face problems but at least it will be better than the stock light. The main issue is I travel in the night for office & considering Pune's road conditions it scares me a lot when I'm driving above 80. Though I travel daily on that road you never know when there is a new pothole.
Do you know any places in Pune where I can checkout bike accessories? I know nane Peth but not sure. Also if you know anyone in Mumbai then let me know.

I have sent PM to Navnish will wait for his reply. Want to complete this mod during this long week end.

                Thanks again...

                Cheers,

                    • Best Headlamp

I would like to start this thread with a purpose of guiding every biker among us to get the best possible eyes for his/her machine. The OEM headlights are appropriate in most of the cases but, at times they are a great pain. The OEM lights are of no use if you are riding in fog every now and then. The white lights are of no use if you are riding in rain. These small but important things cause a stress to our eyes which pulls the stamina out of we, the bikers. These pains are the ones you can choose to suffer apart from the reckless six eyed trucks and buses. Why suffer when you have other alternatives present?

So let this thread begin with the showers of best headlight for the rainy season! Also(if possible), please try to incorporate the brand name, the electrical rating and also the shopkeeper details! Maybe someone from your city might be searching for it. DIY steps are most welcome!

Mods: I searched for a thread on headlights, found none. So thought of creating one. If the thread has slipped from my scan, kindly let me know the link.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "Wow! What a Ride!"

                      • Guys I own 220 planning to get a twin beam done. Now the problem here is I have two ballast already. And I know h7 is the bulb wich I require but since I fail to find h7 would that be ok if I can install h3 in it? Coz the only difference I find in h7 and h3 is the bulbs length. Correct me if m wrong.

                        • the H3 does not fit in the 220. The bulb length and the base plate of the bulb are different

But the power will differ? And will that get in focus properly if fitted?

Power won't differ. But the bulb won't fit properly in the projector and the focus will be ruined.
