If you are using Bixenon for regular use, how you are just swapping the bulbOriginally posted by Shreeni0403 View PostAs I said in my earlier posts, when I have enough light to play who cares for reflector.
I am using regular Bi-Xenon for regular use. Will just swap the bulb when on touring. Thats just to keep the cops away. Last week was caught by cops just for using HID (Regular 4300k) which was a funny incident
. AFAIK BIxenons have only one ballast and you have mentioned this bulb has twin ballast. So don't you have to fit the other ballast as well
.
How is the spread of beam on this bulb compared to the 4300k bixenon ???
Regarding the cops issue, I have never faced any problem with 4300k bixeons...I have a habit of switching of the HL while standing on signal tho

Installed BiXenon HID + Twin Hella Micro-De Fog Lamps on Fz-S
Hey Guys,
I'm almost done with the overhauling. Installed twin Hella Micro-De Fog Lamps (55w) on FZ-S with Bixenon HID (35w). Wanted to install it on forks but local mechanics have no clue how to mount it there, started to give weird ideas. So finally I decided to mount it on Crash Guard. I tested it in the shade on my building at 5:30pm & during that hour light is too good. After all it's Hella. The entire set up is imported. The wire gauge is heavy, the relay (cut out) is made in Spain. If you have somebody doing complex custom work then you can easily mount that on Fork. I'm still thinking but it will be a project
.
Used the same switch which I got with Hella. Had to drill a hole in the inside of the battery cover of my 2 month old bike. But the mechanic did a wonderful job with that & looks like a factory set up. Now few things I need to make it right since I'll be travelling in the rain. Another good thing is the entire set up is removable except the wires (in fact you can remove those too) so after a couple of days of trials I'll unmount it don't want to spoil it in the indiscipline Pune traffic, will post the snaps soon.
Keeping my fingers crossed for the battery, but since I'll be using one of them at a time so not much concerned though. Ohh..& yes I have a kick, paid 2K to get it as an accessory so no issues with the start up. May be I'll change the tail light to LED soon.
My FB has a new status "Bloody Hell!!! BiXenon HID + Twin Hella Micro-De Fog Lamps on my Fz-S it's like Sun riding in the Rain!!! Rains here we come!"Last edited by abhijitkn; 06-06-2011, 08:16 PM.

And how does a bike designed for 35W h/l support suddenly around 150W?Originally posted by abhijitkn View Post"Bloody Hell!!! BiXenon HID + Twin Hella Micro-De Fog Lamps on my Fz-S it's like Sun riding in the Rain!!! Rains here we come!"
Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

Why do you need to remove ballast everytime? Keep the wiring ready, just swap the bulbs and connect to second ballast when the dual tube HID is connected.Originally posted by Only Amit... View PostIf you are using Bixenon for regular use, how you are just swapping the bulb

Waiting to see when battery will dryOriginally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostAnd how does a bike designed for 35W h/l support suddenly around 150W?
. Afaik 2 HID's are ok but 2 halogens of 55w and a 35w HID on stock. I need not say
Hope he is using the fogs wisely only when needed.

When do we check the old posts?
May be you didn't check this
Did a test ride nearby to my house..no issues...since I'm not going to use HIDs & Fog lamps together (that is why I have extra switch)...actually it does not make sense since it will drain out the battery faster & most importantly the beam of HID can not be seen at all due to the Fog lamps (temp diff)..unless you want to show off..but it will be ridiculous...Beam of fog lamps is indeed good...spread is less but enough...Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostAnd how does a bike designed for 35W h/l support suddenly around 150W?
Why someone will roam around Pune with Fog lights & HID on? Ridiculous...Fog lights are meant for some purpose...Originally posted by Shreeni0403 View PostWaiting to see when battery will dry

Nana Peth
Hi Prince,Originally posted by princesirohi View Postwhere can i get good fog lamps in pune and for how much.
Take a stroll in Nana Peth and you will come to know about lot of variants of Fog lights. I bought Hella from authorized dealer for 5K. MRP is 5.5k. One of my friend told me that he could have got it for more better price since he owns a garage & deals with this stuff. Check the Hella website for the options & the prices here.

Charging rate won't matter whether you are roaming in Pune or in Leh! Every bike will have its limits. And loading the punny battery with 150w is ridiculous.Originally posted by abhijitkn View PostWhy someone will roam around Pune with Fog lights & HID on? And for the lights raining, no matter a Hella or Lightforce, Halogens can never match the intensity of a HID. When you had spent so much on Hella Micro DE you could have fixed 1 Hella with a 3200K HID and Bi-Xe on headlight which would make sense for all your purpose without overloading the battery as well.
No offense meant but make sure you don't end up in middle of dark with a dry battery bcz of such heavy load.

Charging rate? When did I mentioned abt the charging rate? I haven't changed the battery to higher amp-hrs yet. I said it because why someone will drive with fog lamps on in the city which has no fog? Be it a bike or car. Unless you want to show off. Also HID+Fog Lamps always on why? The beam of HID (4300k) is just not visible at all so why to use it along with fog lamps?
I believe you are getting misunderstood here. I've no intentions of loading battery with 145w by using HID & Fog Lamps, that is why I have separate switches for them. Since it's a Fog Lamp it has a different lens & I'm not sure if you can load it with BiXenon bulb in it. For that you have different driving lights of Hella but those are too costly. If you have tried it send me the snaps but I'm certain it will not fit for purpose. But I do not want to carry 2 ballasts.
Also I'll not suggest anyone to mount single fog lamp since it will not serve the purpose, the intensity & beam spread will be low.
I do not want to compare the intensity of the HID & Hellogens, but HIDs in rain are useless infact normal driving lights won't be of much use in heavy rains and in Fog you can imagine. More the intensity of the light more worst the scenario in Fog. But I liked the setup of 55W Bi Xenon HID on ZMA. Looks good.
Under normal circumstances I'm very much satisfied with my 4300K BiXenon Setup but I faced issues earlier while riding in the tunnels in daylight & rains.
Do you think if I use Fog lamps only (twin 55w) will dry out battery?
I have checked with many people including Navnish & Kinshuk & everyone agreed that no issues with battery if I drive only with fog lamps.
Do you know anyone who has used it before & faced issue? Again only fog lamps I talking here..not together with HID.

Bro, Hella Micro DE uses H3 or H3A type bulb. Not the bi-xenon HID which you use in headlight. And also for serving the purpose of fog, I suggested 3200K HID. Which will definitely reduce the load big time from your battery and regarding intensity 35w HID is close to 3 times the intensity of same w halogen. So it will compensate the missing fog lamp or if you really want, plonk HID on both. That will sum up to 70w which again will be saving 40w power. Choice is yours.Originally posted by abhijitkn View PostHi Sreeni,

HIDs in Hella's Micro-De Fog Lamps yes possible but...
Hi Srini,Originally posted by Shreeni0403 View PostBro, Hella Micro DE uses H3 or H3A type bulb. Not the bi-xenon HID which you use in headlight. Yes, that was the option but these Micro-De lamps are based on Hella's De technology, different reflector & glass lense & also I was aware that it includes halogens not HIDs. The construction is different hence you can mount any HIDs as a standard fit. It's a good option but technically not straight forward. Before purchasing I searched for the info on this subject & I found this or here or here. You can find many links but there is issue with spacing, focal point etc. I didn't want to spoil the shell/lamps without enjoying the lights. As long as I don't face serious issues with the battery & I'm satisfied, no need for another HID. But still I'm tempted to mount the HIDs...let's see...where I go from here...still thinking on the best mounting positions other than crash guard.
I'll suggest people not to change the standard set up unless there is a real need & if you are going to buy a spare in case if it doesn't work out. But someone who holds SBKs should explore the option of Hella Micro DE Xenon HID Driving Lamp Kit it's damn costly but will beat any HIDs available.Last edited by abhijitkn; 06-08-2011, 12:35 AM.
