Can't answer the cost question because I don't live in India anymore. But I do have HIDs on my ZX so:Originally posted by BikerKid View Postcan i install the hid without and changes to the electrical system? and how much will it cost? i guess hid is a better option than fitting in a bigger bulb ryt?
1. You most likely cannot install HIDs without changes to the electrical system. You need a ballast to provide really high (my ballast can go up to 23,000 V) startup voltage. So, most HID manufacturers provide the ballasts. I use DDM tuning:
DDM Tuning : Motorcycle HID Kits & Lighting
HOWEVER, DDMtuning sells DC ballasts. Apparently AC ballasts last longer (do a quick google search to confirm). I don't have problems with the DDM tuning kits (yet). I basically paid $20/HID kit (shipping included) so I can't complain about the price. Also changes to the electrical system on my bike were simple. Personally I think HID lights are a nice project to start out on a bike.
2. HID IS a better option than a bigger bulb. Check out my photostream on flickr to see the difference between a stock HIGH beam and a 12000K 35W HID:

Although I didn't put a bigger bulb on my bike, the HID pics. above should convince you that there is no way a bigger bulb is as bright as an HID. I actually compared my HIDs to bigger bulbs (housing etc. the same) that my buddy had on his bike. The HIDs were brighter.
Good luck.

Electronic Flasher for Indicators
Hi,
I am trying to MOD my activa indicators and replacing them with LEDs. Now what really happens is the indicators work fine with stock bulb, but when we connect the LEDs, they do not blink.
I searched on the net for a solution and cause, which says that LEDs consume very low current so the flasher circuit fails to operate.
Workaround is to use load resistor or electronic flasher which operate led indicators.
Can you help me if such electronic flashers are available in india and who manufacturers them.
Thanks in advance.30+ YEARS OF RIDING

My projector+HID mod
Bike: P180UG3
Projectors used: P220
HIDs used: 2x35W H7 4300k [Navnish]
Low beam: Ellipsoidal Projector
High beam: Parabolic Reflector
Switching: 1. Independent low beam
2. Dual beam when switched to high beam
Note: To make both beams glow together when on High beam, modded the existing H4 Bi-Xenon wiring to run this.Last edited by pavanchirmade; 06-27-2011, 12:16 PM.

Need help in upgrading to hid...
Hi Guys,
Background:-
I have a 2009 Honda Dio, the stock bulb holder(non H4) has been converted to support the H4 type bulbs(currently using philips premium 35W). I am thinking of switching to 35W single hid, either 3000k or 4300k.
My stock battery is 5A, optimum charging voltage is >13/13.5 V according to exide battery technician. Now the stock battery has almost died out(button start no longer works). Since I have to change the battery anyways, I was thinking of changing it to a 9A Exide(Advice if you know a better brand in same price range).
Also, I am using a bigger(3A) horn(local company "tico" something, consumption for stock horn is rated around 1.5A)
So here are my queries...
1)I know that every battery has a charging rate(depending on the Amperage rating) which is calibrated with the repective stator coil. Now my question - is it possible to plonk a 9A battery without rewinding the stock stator. Will the stock stator charge the 9A battery fully?
I doubt the stock stator is robust enough to support any excess electrical strain. If anyone has experience in using hid/9A battery with the stock activa(old model)/dio please comment.
2)If I have to rewind, how do I measure the increase in output. Is there any limit on the rewinding process. Will over rewinding mess up the electricals?
3)I dont know much, about the difference between AC supported hid and DC specific hid kits. I believe the ones that navnish sells are DC, if I install these how can I be sure they get enough juice(as not all the voltage generated is dc in an ac+dc bike).
@pavan, where did you get the rewinding done for your p180.
Thanks and regards,
Manas.Last edited by crazySID; 06-27-2011, 02:29 PM."To accomplish much you must first loose everything" - Che Guevara

@crazysid
ive using 9lb amaron since 1yr
and for 1 month after installation ive used it without coil rewinding
and the result is the battery got dead completely and got it replaced with new one
and then ive replaced the bike's coil with some other bike's , dont know which one exactly
and from then it was good and charging was quite good
.
recently ive purchased exide battery 9lb
and its quite nice too and i didnt face any problems so far
,
Note : IM USING A BIXENON PROJECTOR AND EVEN A STEBEL NAUTILIUS HORN .
.
so u can go ahead with the 9lb without rewinding because the stock battery itself can handle my horn and 9lb will be more than enough
but if u want to install HID then 9lb is must with changing the coil or rectifier or winding ur startor coil

Help: Reflector Melting.
guys i need help, recently i noticed that my reflector has started melting from top in a straight line just above the HID, starting from near HID and extending right upto top of reflector. what do you think is the reason my HID is a cheap chinese one (although not cheap-i got it for around 3000). it is 8000K. my reflector is original one and not duplicate. mine is 35 watt HID.
