  • poor light sollution???

    HEY GUYS
I have a 3month old FZ16. the headlight is not that good.
i want to use both beams(hi/low) at same time when i select the high beam. but low beam only when low beam is selected.
    so my questions are that
how can it be done and how will it effect the battery.
my bike mostly does not start with self start in morning.

what are other suggestions for getting better view in dark..
i'm short of money so will not be installing something costly for a while.
and if anyone can tell the battery problem i will be thankful...

this can be done by a simple mod chk out the twin beam mod on p220 thread in the desi bikes section. fz's battery can handle 70W of headlight....

      • Installing HID

        Hi all xbhpians out there...

This is Abhradeep from Siliguri in West Bengal. I am really glad to join this fraternity of bikers.

Guys I want all your valuable suggestions regarding installing a HID in my bike.

I have a 4 months old HH HUNK. It came with a factory fitted 12v 35/35w multi focal reflector halogen bulb. It has a MF-5:12v 4Ah Battery with 125w alternator.

During the city rides the illumination is not that bad but very recently during some long rides I discovered the beams are significantly inadequate and it took a great deal of efforts from my end to locate the potholes(which are quite common in indian roads). At times I was riding engaging the pass switch while in lower beam mode.

So I thought of installing HID in the bike, but so far I have no idea whether it is possible or not & if possible what modifications are needed..??

        Help me out people..

          Hi Abhradeep,

I am also new to xBhp, and had been googling around regarding HID & stuff, I might not be the best prson, but few thinks I did learn from my mistakes.

I ride a 2005 DTSi Pulsar, in which the headlamp was a normal 35w/35w powered though the coil when the ignition is on. I decided to switch to HID for more light and comfortable visibility etc... I bought a chinese made H4 socket (this one has both high & low beam) 8000K HID, which is wen installed powered through the battery (my ride is a self start model).

after the altered connection the pilot lamps, tail light and console lights everything started running on battery and not on coil... so this might sond like a battery dischagre to you unless your battery charging rate is good enough (which is what is good in my case).

there are varios ranges & colours from3200K to even 12000K, but whenyou go for HID go for range between 4100K to 6000K only not higher than that... else its only show and no comfortable lighting for night driving pleasure and also its illegal and blinds the oncoimng traffic (something i was not aware of). Do not go for any chinese made HID kits, infact do some research and go for a branded one (which is expensiv though) mine was only 900 rupeess and installation is 150 bucs additional (one thrid of the branded ones like philips)

Adding to that... when you switch on the HID light it takes around 5-10 seconds to warm up and glow fully.. so that means the "pass" button is of no use as the moment you press it the light intensity is not good eough...

Currently I think I shuld still stick to HID kit but get the bulb replacd (probably philips) to 5500K for proper lighting.

Let me know if that helps you to strt with.... ;-)

New HUNK come with AC or DC lighting?

If you headlamp is running straight from the coil, it won't be suitable for HIDs because HIDs require constant DC source. If your bike is DC, HID should be plug and play.

Don't opt for Chinese kits, they draw more current.

In a related note, all HIDs consume more current when they warm up. They take about 10 to 15 seconds to warm up and consume steady 3.2amps.

i guess he is asking 1800 for only the angel eye (the glowing circle) and 1000 bucs extra for a projector head lamp (the one which has lens).. like in Pulsar 220....

                  • im having a problem with my projectors. The angel eyes as well as the devil eyes are working. But my projector is not. I had a ride to a hill station. The roads were not in great conditions. Had a nasty hit in a hump and the bike mud guard hit below the headlight case. Will this be the cause for the malfunctioning of the projector. Will this be a loose contact.

check all connections. try connecting the HID to another source and see if it works. if not change the bulb and see.

                              I need info about sockets.
                              Pilots are T10 (right?)
I've no idea about sockets of indicators and rear number plate lamp. Anyone have any idea?
and is there anything I should know about these before sourcing?
                              thanks
