my pilots were exactly the same that you have ordered but one fused after some months of use during a spill. the base white portion got slightly burnt after fusing
been using these 2 T10 20 LED SMD Car Side Wedge Light Bulb Supper White, 12V Super white Light | eBay since then without probs. when I bought them, they were Rs.400. you could get them in Mumbai and Kolkata for Rs.200 only.

I've had bad luck with LEDs overall. I've tried 5 different versions of LEDs from DealExtreme. I got one from Navnish too.. which barely lasted for two weeks. From what I understand, these LEDs die out due to loose contact. I never had a fusing issue on my bike.

I've intentionally fused a dozen of LEDs which used to sell for Rs. 3 when I was 5 years old. My dad used to run a Electronic Supply Store, I grew up playing with LEDs. LEDs, irrespective of what color it is, emits an orange shade when it's dying out.

Did you notice something similar when it died out?

Maybe, when I get my package, I should dissect one of those pilots and see what resistor they use, probably swap with a resistor of better tolerance.

no man no orange shade man. it was fine. maybe shorted during the spill.
keep informed about your resistor swapping thing.

When led get more power than their need they will emit orange shade & burn out , you can use a resistor to avoid it , a resistance around 500 ohm will protect the single led from burning out . While in those smd led they mostly used 141 ohm resistor for 9 smd led connected in series . more smd led lower resistance in order to get appropriate current for each smd led to glow at its full intense .

please tell me for a 20smd led how much resistance should I provide?
Considering this http://www.dealextreme.com/p/bay15d-...ulb-pair-48242 as an alternative to the tail lamp of my YZF R15 V1.0Any suggestions? will it fir directly?

Resistance depends on how you connecting led's in series or parallel ?
Depending on connection type you can calculate resistance here
            LED Resistor Calculator

& if the socket of YZF R15 V1.0 taillight is similar to that of BAY15D then it will be straight fit . Sorry i don't have idea about R15 brake light socket .

The leds go bad due to fluctuations in the bike . I was using a set of leds for almost a year . I put the same on the new 2010 r15 and it just blew up. Same with the 2009 r15s . The leds i have are of a pretty good quality. Yes there were a few blew ups but its mostly due to the bike not the led .

The leds which come with a variable input 12v-24v rarely blow up they are more expensive they can take all the beating possible.Try ordering them.

Guys am setting up a shop in jeevan bheema nagar . Should be up soon finally. Any one needs an hid ping me . I have some old stock which will be with the same rate . The $ price is gone up so the new lot will be a bit high. so grab your hids fast .

Am currently testing out new leds 1w 3w 5w and 10w . The 10w give out 900lm of light . Made a headlight of the 10w led currently testing it . Guys looking for leds for testing ping me .

looks great. with proper reflectors, good illumination can be expected and can be used as aux lights.
ALL THE BEST with your shop, will visit when I am in Bangalore.

P.S.: can you please tell me if this BAY15D 4W 126-Lumen 63-LED Car Brake/Tail Signal Red Light Bulb (Pair) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme can be used as tail light alternative in R15 V1.0? do you have any plug-and-play LED which can be used as tail light alternative? I want a plug-and-play because I want to revert back to the OEM whenever I want.

                  • Where in Jeevan Bima Nagar are you? I know the bus stand.

What are you using to drive the LEDs? What heatsinking? Do you have the collimating lenses too?

Yes, I've noticed that. When my 2010 r15 idles, I see the pilots flickering as if it's running straight from the dynamo. I don't understand why and how, even with headlamps, turn indicators and brake lights off, it seems to be flicker. I've swapped Minda 3.5Ah battery with Amaron 5Ah battery, but still the same issue.

I've noticed that the leds which you gave to Jithu, they have been running sweet for years in Jithu's 2008 R15, I think it's the bike.

BTW, sweet video. ****in awesome! BTW, Navinish.. I would need an HID ASAP. I was contemplating going for a branded kit, but it's more complicated to procure than I though it would be.

Do you think with all LEDs (Tail + Blinker + Pilots), my R15 would be able to handle two 35w HIDs? Ideally, it should be.. but I don't know why people say no!

Update: Multimeter reading across the pilot lamp terminal says 13.85 Volts on my R15. Now, that's why the LEDs die out!

which is bigger, 130 or 35? your battery can't take a load of 130/100W. period.
                                go for 35w
