Maybe because all your queries might have been discussed earlier. Full DC-conversion and all have been discussed earlier. Mind having a look at the earlier pages.

I am having a Discover 112 cc. Its having a 2.5 Ah battery. What particular modification do I need to undergo for obtaining full DC headlight in it ?

Ok I will go around the pages of this thread as you say. But I think I wont find the meaning of what is that Ape's RR coil ? In what and which manner it would be helpful ?

Unfortunately 4100k D2S bulbs are very hard to find, I however can manage to procure a 4300k D2S 55w.

If you don't mind could you please share as to which bike/HID kit you plan to use this on?

I too can source 4300K D2S in 55watt. Planning to install it on a Pulsar 200NS, with Morimoto projector, Hella 55watt ballast. The bike is not my own, a guy would give me 500 rupees if I do the installation, he will be paying for the required parts so price is not a utmost concern.
I only own a bicycle and I was humiliated in public due to the social stigma associated with bicyclists, I am going to post that in another thread.

1) charging coil of stator has two wires
coming out in stock condition. connect it to
an RR (may be stock one) and remove the
ground from lighting coil and take the
connection out of stator using a wire. now
connect one more RR to these two wires. now
combine in parallel the output of these two
RR's.
2) remove the ground of lighting coil and
connect it to one end of charging coil
internally in stator. take connections from
other end of lighting coil and remaining end of
charging coil. connect an RR and check the
output.
I hope it helps.

Hi,

There are quite a number of active members in this forum who is knowledgeable about automotive lighting. Your Discover is an old one which will need some modifications to run on full DC setup, first of all, the stock stator coil will have to be removed and rewinded to provide better current output, then you will have to buy the RR unit (Regulator Rectifier unit, referred to sometimes as "charger" in mechanics' jargon) of Piaggio Ape and swap it with the stock one. This RR will provide the required power in DC mode to the electricals, so they don't dim even at low RPMs. The electricals would have to be routed throuh the battery and since the battery is an old smaller capacity one, it is advisable to sap it with a higher capacity, at least a 5 Ah one. That way you can plonk in a 55watt H4 bulb in the bike and run it with better illumination than current DC Discovers without draining the battery.
I am back!

Yes, I agree with Cleaner
You need to rewind your stator coil with thicker gauge copper wire at your local auto electrician or equip (RR Unit) that of a Piaggio Ape's.
It probably costs abouts 1K or so.

How does one rewind a RR unit???? The Piaggio Ape RR unit costs 1850 rupees AFAIK. You need to rewind the stator coil, DVJ AUTO TECH from Kolkata seems to do a good job of rewinding, tell him Milton referred you. Be prepared to spen at least 3,500 rupees for the rewinding and RR unit, you may have to spend a little bit more as you will have to opt for a new battery too and you may need a new ignition coil.

The one you bought was manufactured by Greaves Cotton Ltd., not OEM. If you look at the first picture, you'll see that the batch was from October, 2008 and it still cost 1144 rupees back then. No way in hell, it would cost 1111.32 rupees now.
Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me would provide more info about the price of the Ape RR.
