Thanks a lot for such a detailed reply brother... yeah its coming with 35w osram bulb but its illumination is poor where as fz which is coming with same 35w bulb is having good illumination...I think fz is having Philips 35w hs1 as default bulb...should I switch to Philips 35w hs1..??? One more thing, I was surfing on this thread and some threads on team-bhp...people were discussing about using 55w bulbs as plug and play options for their activas, p180s and wegos. only thing required according them was DC electrical set up and that's why now I am confused....

With Philips 35watts bulb there will not be the much difference.
And in t-bhp what you are telling is about the dc conversion which is not required as yours is already dc bike.

Conversion is not required but up-gradation may required coz our modified DC bikes pumps more amps then other OEM DC bikes who are having 35/35 H/L excluding ZMR/220/CBR..

Yes you are wright but i think sz can pump for a 55/60 bulb
But still he should check before using 55/60watts bulb with multimeter.

People were suggesting some users that they can plug and play with 55w bulbs straight away without any modification if bike or scooter is having full DC electrical set-up...which mean no modification like relay, wire cutting and all which you were suggesting me....

No that way it will give too much stress on the stock wiring it would heat up and may be due to heating wire plastic coat would melt leading to a short circuit.
And also your stock switches wont support that much load

Yes HID's are plug & play. In every HID kit there will-be one connector for a particular bulb type which you have to connect your stock bulb holder & connect the power supply wire from the HID to your battery that's it. Now you can use your stock switches.

check the charging rates using multimeter first. but as far as i know fz and sz have many things identical so i think they also share rr and stator coil as engine is same and in fz 55/60 watts bulb works properly so charging rates would be enough to support the 55/60 watts bulb
and i would be against for this if your bike is in warranty
bulb change will void your warranty as cutting of wires would be required for putting relay.
your bike stock wiring will not support the load of 55/60 watts bulb so relay is necessary.
instead you can go for 35 watts hid that would not require cutting of wires. but the cost will be on higher side

Bro both the FZ & SZ are using the same coil & RR. So it'll definitely support the 60W bulb.
60W bulb is a direct fit,there is no need to use relay for this.And stock wires are capable to to Run the 60W bulb.

FZ & SZ is having a different reflector due the reflector only the on road illumination will get change. So changing the bulb 35W osram to 35w philips won't give any different.

Yes that was a confusion thats y told him to check charging rates with mm. I told him to use relay as my friend switch was heating too much on 55/60 watts even one could feel that

Hey guys, i heard/read that a 55W bulb is a direct fit for pulsar 180ug4, so i changed my stock 35W with a 55W. It has been a month, the bike is running fine just the battery is always low, horns are weak, so can we use p220 coil? The bike has a 55W setup, would it work on pulsar 180 ug4?

Yes philips xtreme vision is good then stock but the difference is not too much, for better illumnation go for 4300k hid will cost you more than philips xtreme vision but will give better illumination.

For 55/60 watts bulb you need charger upgrade to ape rr and coil rewinding. Stock charging system would not support that much load.
Pulsar 220 coil is not plug and play as its a 3phase coil with 18 pole and magneto is also different.
Your pulsar 180 ug4 8 poles coil would be enough to power 55/60 watts bulb after rewinding and rr upgrade.

Today I checked My Pulsar 135 possibility of 55/60W upgrade and battery drain/charge test. here results.

I already replaced two parking & number plate bulbs with LEDs. so stock 5wx3 now reduced to 1W (even less) total.

Disconnect battery (+) wire and connect multimeter across it.

After switch on and meter resets, its read 187mA.

Started bike and keep it idle few minutes.
now bike in idle (~1500 rpm)

Turn on High beam - 35W stock bulb (with tail & parking on) = No battery drain. Battery Charge @ 0.7A

Now I connect another 35W bulb to battery after multimeter. (yes total would 70W. this is because worst case check. thought bike with stock parking bulbs)

Now Battery discharging at 1.6A ~ 1.8A fluctuating due to slow engine.

Raise engine rpm to 2000 = discharge stopped.

Engine over 2000 rpm it charge battery.

Conclusion: Pulsar 135LS with 55/60W Bulb will not drain battery if engine keep over 2000rpm

Bike: 1 year and 4 months old
Battery: stock Exide 5AH that come with bike.

yes it will do. coil & rr designed for 55/60W head lamp will work without problem.

problem with stock pulsar coil is not enough voltage. when engine in idle, Alternator voltage is not enough to prevent battery from discharging.

battery voltage drop below 12V when 70W load & engine idle.

At idle (~1500rpm) coil must supply 12+V under 5~6A load. which mean around 75W @ 1500rpm.

My pulsar rewinded with 19 gauge wire gives 3.33 amps at idle and around 13 volts

I own a 1996 4S Champion. Can i install HID in it? If yes what should the specifications be and would that be a DIY or do i need to contact a installed in Delhi NCR?
