    1. Try any mech, they might have it or else you can buy the Chinese projectors, costs around 1500 and they come equiped with Halo rings also.
    2. You can fit it back.
    3. No bro, APE RR can perform the most only after you get a proper rewinding done and have a full DC setup, what i know is Apaches have a AC/DC setup and in your case AC is converted to DC using the relays, and not from the charging coil or unit. So if there are no issues, stick to the current setup.
    4. Apache always had a good light. To switch to DC there are two options, one is what you did, the other is coil rewinding and APE RR.
    5. This is something even i have heard. Don't know if it is true or not. Anyone???

Yes, I know about the visibility of 4300K is max and just wanted to know about the projectors as I'll be using HID only with a good projector.
You can buy Chinese projectors as i suggested others also as it becomes tedious finding P220 projector from junk yard or 2nd hand market. Costs around 1500.

hehehehe... no no i was just asking is it only the amp difference in the 35w and 55w ballasts or is there anything else.. you know me doc, I have this weird hunger of knowing... :P and yes he is "THE MAN" i know so i wanted him to post his valuable comments... honestly navneesh had suggested me a 55w/35w setup and when i asked him the same question he said he will check and get back to me but we both forgot to interact on the issue after that...

55 watt is def overkill and strain the battery in long run.
ok so you mean keeping the upper beam stock, HID on the lower beam and aux on leg guard focused for high beam? Nice idea... will think over it... you have always been the one with innovative ideas... thanks...

    • Hi,

I've been a proud owner of P150 ES UG3 for the past 3.5 years and hit 50k kms already.

Mostly a highway rider, I found that the original light of a Pulsar is no match even to the present day TVS XL moped. So after a loooonggg think on modification (so far, I was an anti-modification man and haven't done any alteration so far to the originals), I went for it.

I upgraded the coil (stator) on 25 Oct 2011 at a AS India Auto Electricals - a local shop in Coimbatore and replaced the stock 35/35 w head lamp with white Philips 60/55 w light.

The electrician gave me a 6-month warranty for the coil, and the light is quite bright. One issue is the intensity goes up and down with the throttle. I was told that converting the power to DC will solve the problem. Service guy at Aditya Auto Spares, Coimbatore - from where I bought the philips bulb told me that the lighting can be done without altering the coil, but with an addition of an extra regulator by a proper auto electrician.

I'll post the pictures of the lighting and DC conversion details soon after getting it done. Need to observe for some time whether the modification is reliable.

Relays are simple switches, they don't convert AC to DC.

It's true but its hardly noticeable. As the flux induced tries to oppose the rotation of the magnet, but it's almost negligible.
Its the fusion of a two wheeled machine & a human being which creates a true biker.

exactly so. fitting a relay never makes an AC setup DC. it just helps maintaining a balance. that is why it is said only R15, P220 and Karizma has a true full DC setup. not even P180 or P150 has a true DC.

a full DC setup is always way more reliable than fitting a relay or a hybrid setup like many bikes we have.

and thanks Abhijeet on the insight. someone once told me the same and I thought how much difference Will it make? thought it would be negligible and now we are confirmed...

the best regulator rectifier unit available is from the company Ape. and you might need to recoil again as the previous rewind was done for AC setup. I am sure there are many members here who are way more knowledgeable in this field. they Will guide you through I am certain.

1.Bro Chinese ones are pencil beam ones...nd they are a lil les trusted though and these are available in delhi from 2.5 k to 4k......they come with options like night glow, mx3 effect, smoke effectss , halo rings etc...but as i already have angel eye with me and a hid too then i just need a 220 or such projector to complete my setup in least price

3.tht was not my ques i just wanted to knw tht...does it serve the purpose of dc setup though im nt worried of charging but yes also i m afraid of rewinding as it may cause problem and i dont knw the proper method too coz in the thread on xbhp they tell 19gauge wire 12 feet per pole...but some say feet dosent matter they say calculate the no of poles divide by 2 and add 1.....per pole

4.But i would say im happy with the stock charging setup i just need another projector and i have suspected tht its only my bike tht dosent have charging problems while my frends apache's always have battery drain problems as their hid is connected with a external switch to operate

5.one more ques quite off topic though plzz tell me how to set the profile pic on xbhp...nd how to add the signature

Hi, Philips Xtreme Vision 55/60w costs you about Rs 600 per bulb, may be available in pair or single. We(me and my brother) bought 2 bulbs @ Rs 580 each. Additionally, the full glow of this bulb can be enjoyed only when the circuit consists of a relay as well and that too, the relay should be placed as close to the headlight as possible so that minimum power is lost due to resistance.

Don't blame me when you see a black line above bulb after few days of that bulb's use. It is what others say "burning of reflector"

dude, you would be facing battery drain issue in near future if you don't have any additional charging mechanism.
go for a rewind & switch to ape RR & run full DC. Rewind ur stator with 19AWG wire.

See i would love to do it but i just want some expert guidance on this as the thread here dosent clarify my doubts my questions are

1.Where can i get another strator as i want my stock coil safe as here its very tough to get spares

                        2. If the coil is not coreectly winded and i test it by fixing will it blow off the electricals

                        3. 19 gauge is oke and tht 12 feet per pole is not in accordance with the no of turns rite do i have to calculate it as someone said calulate no of stock turns divide by 2 add 1 and wind

4.what is clock anti clock winding fashion

5.which type of winding to be done machine or hand( i think its nt posble rit)

dont laugh as i have no idea abt electricals on bike

White (blue coated) bulbs are for show off. no practical use.

best bulb for zma, w/o any mods, is Philips VisionPlus 60/55W H4 Rs. 350/-

You can use Philips Rally 100/90 W with separate relays for both beams. Rs. 150/- for bulb and Rs. 180/- for two relays. wiring, clips and labor extra Rs. 100/-

I've tried both bulbs, no harm to the battery.
