    • Halogen Projectors for R15

      Hello,

I was thinking to change the stock lights of R15; Don't want to go the HID way as it would too costly (for Branded ones) and also I won't be able to use the Pass light functionality. Now, Only option left is to change the wattage of the Halogen bulbs.
Now, that I've decided to upgrade the bulbs, which is a no brainer as plenty of H4 bulbs are available in market; however, I was thinking to get Projectors for them, It would focus the beam as well as look Cool and different...
So, can anyone Suggest someplace in Delhi NCR and a indicative cost involved???

        • Stock Pulsar and Stock R15 both ship with H4 type Halogen socket.
Please don't post such wrong info, most two wheelers have HS1 socket thus we can fit any H4 type bulb in it, had it been H4 then it wouldn't accommodate Hs1 stock bulbs. Period.

just buy a 35W H4 base HID & please use a projector else you'll be causing problems to the oncoming traffic.

n please look at the picture, whats that red and blue circle like projections infront of the bulb? how to do that?

H4-3 Bixenon HID has both beams ( Low & high ) & is good than those HID having one beam as hid & other halogen . Those rings are called as angel eye , generally you would get only single angel eye hid projectors , but those in the pictures are double angel eyes hid projectors .

Yes, my friend, and like I said earlier, one is not supposed to keep the engine in higher rpms only in order to take benefit of a 55/60 w bulb, and adding a relay definitely increases the brightness as compared to the case when one is not using it. Phew! I guess, I'm clear now!
Let me draw a circuit diagram for you:

I would like to reiterate that fact that relays are put in place to take a load off of your contact based switch, and not to regular/increase/change the voltage or current consumption.

Don't opt for those fancy 8000K or 6000K. Stick to 4200K from some decent brand, you'll be happy.

I would say, just upgrade the low beam or high beam. Don't upgrade both. You'll have issues with your battery!

I run on two H4 55/60, but it came with 20 hours of sweat, a coil rewind by hand and 8000 Rs in importing and R&D with R125 rectifier and coil:

Just go to the nearest R15 you can find on the road, and duck down and see what's written on the Halogen holder. Period! Don't bother reading the Specifications page of the owners manual, if you find that painstaking!

FYI, HS1 is a type of H4 bulb with different base, but the connectors are exactly the same. There are others like A3U with a slightly different base. R15 ships with HS1, and so does Pulsar (atleast the P200 that I owned for almost 2.5 years did)

Wow, thats a neat rewind, hats off.

Can u explain why did u go for 125 for rewinding?

You could've plonk any 3 phase RR from P220, Bull, ZMA for better charging rates. Just for PnP u opted for it? Is there any charging rate difference with stock and 125 RRs?

I was really not in favor of a rewind. Couple of friends from UK who ride R125s sent me some shots of the stator assembly and the rectifier. Downloaded the R125 service manual and turned out the entire charging circuit is a replica of what we have in the R15.

The rectifier was a straight fit, and it has a max current rating of 20A (R15 - 14A). The stator however didn't bit into the magento rotor assembly. It was 3 mm bigger!

I was disappointed, so just drove to Mangaldeep @ S.P Road, Bangalore and got 400 grams of 18 SWG enameled copper and rewound the R15 coil. Works brilliant! 3.8amps gain in comparison to stock, not much, but still decent. My goal was a 5A gain, but I think it's impossible with the stock stator core.

Need to get those HIDs from Navnish now

                      • Hid headlamp help needed

hi guys, i have a 2009 hero honda glamour. at times when i travel at night my bike's head lamps are not powerful enought for the streets that dont have street lights. so i was thinkin to get a HID for my bike. i know that HID above 6000k is illegal. but the question is that will the hid cause any electrical trouble or starting trouble using self start? and i hav heard that it takes time to warm up to switch on, so during day time if i hav to use passing signal when the HID is off, will it work? coz while givng passing signal the light barely gets on for few secs or evenless, by that time it wont be able to warm up? and will it even give load on the bike's alternater and make the tail lights or indicater's glow weak? and does HID have low beam and high beam system? i asked a shop, the shopkeeper told me rs 1400 for a korean HID, is it worth it? or should i go for an expensive philips HID? wat are the advantages of philips over korean or chinese? and do i have to cut some wires and couplings to install it or i jus need to replace the stock one with HID?

I have Amaron 5Ah battery. Sorry, I couldn't quite measure the raw A/C output from the coil. It's 18amps regulated at 3.5K RPM.

Even the APE RR is rated to 20A, but why did you go for a 20A RR when the stock can handle upto 14A which is hard to get from a Indian bike? I guess you must've expected more than 14A right?

Rewinding 18 pole 3 phase stator with 18 SWG wire was not easy mate. It took me good 15 hours from unwinding to rewinding. Each pole took approx 30 minutes of handwinding, and for every pole, one sutta break

Nevertheless, it's all worth it now

R15 service manual said the stator generates 160w. I did a quick math 160w divided by 12 volts = 14 amps. I anticipate 17% thicker copper to be a better conductor and produce not less that 17 amps
