    • Hi, I just replaced my Stock 35/35W bulb with a Xenon bulb of the same rating. 35/35W 5000K. It was a direct fit.
It seems to be working fine without a ballast kit.
Can I continue using it like this? Im very new to this so can someone please tell me?

Hid bulbs dont need blue tinting to make white light and also an hid bulb requires 10000v current to ignite the bulb at startup which is the function of the ballast . this looks like a imitation halogen . how much did it cost you ? first time im seeing such a bulb .

              • that isnt a HID,i think its a H1 Halogen bulb with a blue tint to give it a blueish effect

Seems like a Halogen, but the return wire on the top of the bulb confuses me Shape of the bulb is new to me If its working fine then no issues using it later on.

But one thing is sure its not a HID bulb, HID wont work without a ballast as it should be ignited with a high voltage above 20K. So it should be a normal halogen with Xenon gas filled. Puneet is right, HID doesnt need any blue tint on the glass its the mineral salt makes the tint within the capsule.

BTW whats the cost of it?

Hello Puneet, Thanks for the reply. Same here first time Im seeing such a bulb. It does look like a HID bulb right ?
I picked up a regular blue/white 35/35W Halogen bulb for Rs 70 then I saw this HID bulb at a small shop and picked this up too.
Yes This doesn't look like any other Halogen bulb I have seen.

                            Ranjith,
Im not sure if this is a H1 as H1 has only 1 beam right? This bulb has both low beam and high beam. So surely this isnt a H1 bulb.

Hello Sajit, Thats what got me worried. The return wire on the top make it look exactly like a HID/xenon bulb. This looks like a HID and even switchs on like a HID bulb with a small flicker sometimes.
The light this produces is pretty powerful compared to the stock halogen bulb. But its a white in color. (somewhere between 4500-5000K).

Attaching pics of the stock halogen bulb, the blue halogen, and the so called HID bulb.

I got this so called hid bulb for Rs 250.

so this cant be a HID/Xenon bulb right? and no way it can burn the wiring ? Thats the only worry I have.

I will post a pic of the bulb fixed in the bike to show the beam throw.

Its just a Halogen with a bluish tinted glass like the other one u've. Its not Xenon gas filled ones as they are priced on higher range.

Without a ballast HID wont lightup, and for Rs.250 no one is giving any HID bulb AFAIK so that part is ruled out.

Its not going to harm any ways as its glowing effortlessly with the stock electricals. Check for the power rattings on the sides for a confirmation.
