Hi Chetta, hunting is going on and found some useful things on ebay.Originally posted by sajjt View PostNice update Swaroop, so start hunting for D2S
Ebay
We can use our aftermarket ballast by connecting a D2S-HID converting adapter with D2S HID.
Found some cheap HID deal.
D2S HID 4300K
My question is, if i use the converting adapter by connecting our local (China made) ballast, will it be working fine? will i face any voltage issues?
And the HID for cheap is a worth buying?______________________________________________

no voltage issues on using that amp-to- d2s type adaptor . but price there is 11$ + 39 $ shipping = 2250 + for d2s bulbs you will need additonal 1500 rs . do you currently have a ballast ? the link you posted is only for bulbs not the kitOriginally posted by Swas View PostHi Chetta, hunting is going on and found some useful things on ebay.

In 20north, same adapter is available for 1200+. and locally i can source a china made ballast for 600+.Originally posted by Puneet1 View Postno voltage issues on using that amp-to- d2s type adaptor . but price there is 11$ + 39 $ shipping = 2250 + for d2s bulbs you will need additonal 1500 rs . do you currently have a ballast ? the link you posted is only for bulbs not the kit
Now iam thinking to change the projector base by putting a iron plate like the below pic. 1st pic is D2S into H7, 2nd & 3rd is 9006 into D1S______________________________________________

Just to inform you all.Originally posted by Sandymanviper View PostHello Puneet, Thanks for the reply. Same here first time Im seeing such a bulb. It does look like a HID bulb right ?
I picked up a regular blue/white 35/35W Halogen bulb for Rs 70 then I saw this HID bulb at a small shop and picked this up too.
Yes This doesn't look like any other Halogen bulb I have seen.
Ranjith,
Im not sure if this is a H1 as H1 has only 1 beam right? This bulb has both low beam and high beam. So surely this isnt a H1 bulb.
Hello Sajit, Thats what got me worried. The return wire on the top make it look exactly like a HID/xenon bulb. This looks like a HID and even switchs on like a HID bulb with a small flicker sometimes.
The light this produces is pretty powerful compared to the stock halogen bulb. But its a white in color. (somewhere between 4500-5000K).
Attaching pics of the stock halogen bulb, the blue halogen, and the so called HID bulb.
I got this so called hid bulb for Rs 250.
so this cant be a HID/Xenon bulb right? and no way it can burn the wiring ?
Thats the only worry I have.
I will post a pic of the bulb fixed in the bike to show the beam throw.
Yesterday night this new bulb stopped working and after some time the bike started giving a burning smell after few minutes the whole headlight and parking light failed. I had to ride home without any light in the night.
When I opened the headlight to replace the bulb I was shocked. The whole bulb/bulb holder had melted and some wires also melted
This one bulb has caused so much problems I could not get the bulb holder and wires needed at the local shops and most of the bigger shops were closed being a Sunday. Have to wait till Monday and take the bike to the garage
Lesson for everyone don't buy cheap bulbs that promise very much light. Please don't buy Chinese bulbs like this and suffer.

Changing Headlight of P200
Hi Friends,
I am new to this forum. I am pissed off with the P200 stock headlight. I am planning to modify my bike put the R15 headlight setup on my bike. There will be a bit modification in R15 lights also. The two lamps will be projector lamps. but there are some questions that is coming in my mind.
1. P200 light setup is AC but R15 is DC. So should i convert my light setup to DC one?
2. In this thread, i came to know that the coil winding of P200 is very low. Can i put the avenger coil as an alternative.
3. My battery is a 9Ah Amaron battery. Will that battery will be able to provide support to 2 projector lamps at a time?
4. If the battery is not going to support, will it advisable to add one more battery only for lights and make the light setup DC rather than modifying the whole setup to DC?
Please let me know your ideas.

I think the bulb may be still ok, wires are burnt bcz of the overheating bulb and the stock puny wires and the bulb holder melted due to this. Being on AC stock wires should support min of 55W. Its purely a quality issue of the bulb and it can be taken care of by using a bakelite bulb socket with thicker wires in future too.Originally posted by Sandymanviper View PostJust to inform you all.

I had the same experience on my first bike which was Samurai which was using the stock holders with a 35W local halogen bulb which made me to change the full wires/bulb socket after a ride of 2 hrs. Whole socket was fully laminated to the bulb once I opened it.Do it Yourself, what so ever, if Possible

you should convert your setup to DC according to me, but if you wish you can stay on AC too, all you will need to do is get your coil rewinded heavily.
rewinding for ac and for dc are completely different, in case of ac rewinding to support 80w you will only need to rewind one phase out of two, so you will need to get 4 poles re winded out of 7 poles, battery charging poles will remain as it is...
2
if you put up avy coil, you WON'T be able to support 2 bulbs...
it works well only for a single bulb...
and yes it will make your bike DC
3
9 amp battery definitely supports 2 projector lamps, but know this, it will drain very very quickly until you provide massive current to the battery for charging continuously...
4
its not needed as i said that your current battery will support..
besides even if you do that how will you charge the new battery ??
your bike's stator, and the regulator is designed to charge your current single battery only...
i myself am using 2 hid's, but know this, its a very very difficult task to achieve this, and you cannot keep both of them ON in traffic and sometimes in city conditions...
i do most of the time, as i have a kick start bike, but your pulsar doesn't have a kick too, so you will have to do a very very neat job in rewinding.
if you stay with AC, it will be a much easier and cost effective solution, but forget about HID's then...
decide what you wish to do...Giving a lot to a fiero.

Thank you for the detailed description. What i understand from the above scenario...
1. I need to convert my bike to DC for installing HID projector lamps. AC will not support the HID projector lamps.
2. What are the steps i need to follow for converting it to DC (You have suggested for AC - coil rewinding)?
3. As the battery drains very quickly for supporting two HID projector lamps, how can i provide massive current to the battery for charging continuously?
4. The HID projector lamps that i am talking about is already installed in R15 and working absolutely fine without any issues. I am confused how that 7 Ah battery is supporting two HID projector lamps at a time. do you have any idea about the technique that is being used in R15 and can we use that technique on our bikes also?

see, projector lamps act no more than a reflector, you can plonk 2 projectors and run HALOGEN in them too, of course it won't be as bright as HID's, but the efforts involved will be much less.
going for HID's is the best thing to do, go for it.
let me explain you the charging process.
your bike's stator has 7 legs, on these the copper wire is winded, however out of these 7 poles only 3 of them charge the battery, the remaining 4 poles give current to the AC headlight...
so in AC's case, you will need to rewind those 4 poles with a thicker guage wire and you are done no more expenses like rr changing or any other tweaks, but unfortunately you won't be able to run HID's...
in case of DC rewinding, you will have to get all the 7 poles winded with a single wire and give its output to the battery for charging, hence 4 more charging poles will increase than the stock, thus battery will get massive amount of current...
it will remain charged at all times, but in case you want 2 to run all the time, make sure you use 17 guage wire, and wind it 12.5 feet per pole minimum across every pole to achieve enough to run 2 hid's at a time even at low speeds...
besides as you said you have a p200.
if you want to change it to all DC, you'll have to buy a new RR unit (ape rr), get all poles rewinded as i mentioned above, MOD YOUR BCU too as it won't work on ac, and then you can do that....
1 more thing, why are you going for r15's fairing??
you can install 2 projectors in your current headlamp itself, will save you money....
and give good light output too...
of cource, go for it if you are hoping to get a full fairing looks like xionite.
now let me answer as HOW COME r15 or fz can support good 2 lights on DC ??
well, these bikes have good stator
every ALL DC bike like karizma, p220, r15 etc have stator that can support great amount of watts.
the idea is simple, if i have a 2.5 amp battery for example, and i am using a single HID bulb which needs 5 amps to start at the minimum, when i start my engine, my stator provides the remaining current for the bulb to start, so a hid can run even on a 2.5 amp battery if the stator is good, our very own DRVMTM have achieved this, similar is the case with all these bikes, i've heard somewhere than ZMR's stator can give 235w of power...
its again running on a 7 amp battery...
maybe you understood my points...Giving a lot to a fiero.

Thank you very much for your detailed information.
1. I have one question...what is RR unit
(I have no idea about internal bike parts).
2. Regarding R15 fairing, i am adding this to get full fairing looks
.
3. You have asked me to MOD MY BCU...Can you please let me know what modification i need to do in BCU for supporting 2 HID lamps.
4. Regarding starters...if starters of ZMR, R15 and FZ are good enough to support 2 lights...will it be possible to fit this in P200? Why i am asking this question as rewinding the starter needs more accurate effort than fitting a new starter (I think so
). Please suggest if this can be done else i will go for coil rewinding.

1.
refer this post of mine for rr unit explanation
2.
good, go for it, refer xionite's thread in the desi bike's section, will help you big time..
3.
in case of a pulsar 200, the bcu is designed to work on AC/DC only, not all DC, so you will need to mod it, you will have to route of of the input's wire to the bcu directly from stator or something like that, another member pawan chirmade will enlighten you on this as he has done it on 2 bike's and i don't own a pulsar, so i don't have much idea..
or if you have the money you can directly go for p220's BCU or any UG4 pulsar's BCU which already runs on all DC, but it would be an expensive affair..
4.
its not only stators that matter, even a rr unit does, generally our bikes (AC/DC) have 2 phase coil as well as 2 phase rr unit.
which means out of the 7 legs of the stator coil, 4 are used for lighting AC only and remaining 3 are used for battery charging, but almost every ALL DC bikes have 3 phase coils, they have many legs, 12 to 18 legs to wind the wire and it is 3 phase, even the rr unit is 3 phase in that case, and the coil is generally very biggger than ours so we cannot directly fit it into our magnet...
the only 3 phase all dc STATOR COIL you can use is avenger's coil, it will directly fit your stator, but it will not support 2 hid's at all..
besides even if you deciede to put it up, you will need to MOD YOUR RR UNIT TOO and make a bridge rectifier, which even i never understood..
so don't worry too much, just go for complete coil rewinding, make it single phase, that is single wire through all the 7 poles and route the output of those copper wires to the APE RR and you can easily enjoy 2 hid's together with projectors in your r15's fairing...
hope i cleared your doubts..Giving a lot to a fiero.

I got a mechanic which does modification in bikes to fit HIDs and he has already done mod on Pulsar bikes.
As per your suggestion, so support 2 HIDs following are the mods that i have to make -
1. Rewind the coil and make it single phase
2. Change the RR unit to APE RR
3. Mod the BCU of my bike or fit the P220 BCU kit
One question not about electrical parts...along with all those mod i am planning to change my handle...planning to go for P220 or R15 handle bar. Can you suggest which one will be better?

but remember, you need to run 2 hid's together, so just basic rewinding (single phase) is not enough, get a 17 or 19 guage wire (17 is better and thicker than 19), rewind it as a single wire to all the 7 poles in clock/anticlock direction across adjacent poles, make sure its very long enough, atleast 12 feet per pole, and the output (the 2 ends of the same wire) should go in the ape rr's gray wires directly without any grounding or stuff like that..
the remaining 2 wires of the ape rr goes to the battery directly, yellow to battery positive, and black to battery -ve, get this thing done RIGHT and you will never ever have to worry about your battery draining even with 2 hids....
regarding the bcu, mod it first, if in case it gets screwed up buy a p220's.
once you will be done with the rewinding and ape rr installation part I'll ask pawan to throw some more light on the BCU mod, it won't be difficult to understand.
it will settle you down completely.
as far as the handlebar is concerned, i suggest go for the p220's handle, as r15's handle is comparatively smaller, it would be expensive too comparatively.
besides if you ask me, i don't like clip on handlebars, they don't have much effect on handling improvement, going for LOWER handlebar makes the front much more planted and stable under braking, bike turns more stable, this has been a personal experience for me, i am running FZ's handlebar which is lower as well as wide, makes the ride really comfortable, no more front wheel locks, no more back aches too, the choice is yours.
the FZ handlebar costs 150 bucks only, buy it, try it, if you like it go for it, or go for clip ons later on as they cost more, in any case 150 bucks won't be much damage to the pocket, is it ?Giving a lot to a fiero.
