Honda Unicorn headlights change
hello fellas,
I have a Honda Unicorn 2007 Grand Prix edition model. I feel the headlights are kinda dim and not so helpful during nights. I want to replace them with newer ones.
Present ones : Halogen 12V -7AH 35/35w
1)Is there a good choice in the same 35/35W range ?
2)If the only option is to upgrade to 60/55W, what are
a) the risks if I upgrade in terms of bike maintenance
b)which manufacturer/model to choose (OSRAM/Philips/Halonix)
I live in Hyderabad and it would be great if you can point me to any good local mechanic in this field.
Thanks a bunch.

osram nb on fz16
hey sandeep,Originally posted by Sandeep_K_Ram View PostIsn't that a Halogen bulb ? It must be a simple straight fit then.
You have to remove the front fairing - two screws at the top and two below the cowl. Pull out the fairing slowly ...watchout for the cables ...you need to disconnect one socket on the right hand side as you do it.
Then you just remove the old bulb and put this one in . Put back the fairing and connect back the socket ... done .
can we fix osram night breakers h4 on a fz16 and is it a direct fit? if yes, plss let me know where can i get the bulb in bangalore...
awaiting ur reply..

good ,nb s are good, but when you go to highways you can feel some problem as its a single 55/60.Originally posted by dhiraj View Post
i am fully satisfied with NB. need to test it on highways
try hids in that case.....
these are few snaps to compare...
A P220(STOCK &NEW) AND A MODDED P 180UG2(CHARGING BOOST+9AH BATTERY OF 5YR OLD+PHILLIPS XTREAM POWER).

SAME P 220 WITH SAME 180 UG2(HID S INSTEAD OF XTREAM POWER).

SOME TEST PICS

Guys an update from my side .
Tested the new 40w HIDs what i got last month on the R15 and it worked really well.
Comparing the 35w hid kits the 40w hids are much brighter and the start up time is also less. The price of the 40w HIDs are little more then the normal ones but they are completely worth it .
Will post some pics and more feedback tonight
Converting Halogen / HID headlamp setups to FULL LED.
Please fill in this survey so we can help you move to FULL LED Headlamps

2)If the only option is to upgrade to 60/55W, what are
a) the risks if I upgrade in terms of bike maintenance-depends upon the workmanship quality
b)which manufacturer/model to choose (OSRAM/Philips/Halonix)-Philips is a good one

Yes, only in HIDOriginally posted by ppkreddy View Post1)Is there a good choice in the same 35/35W range ?
Ensure that the coil rewinding guy should have something in his head. Take it to a competent auto electrical guy & get the rewinding done. Hope you know the process.Originally posted by ppkreddy View Posta) the risks if I upgrade in terms of bike maintenance
All 3 are good. There's a 60/55 that is available for cars these days, not sure if its called Philips Xtreme H4. Costs about Rs 800-1000 for a pair & throws almost white light. In this case, you can opt to change the holders to ceramic which sustains hear very well.Originally posted by ppkreddy View Postb)which manufacturer/model to choose (OSRAM/Philips/Halonix)
Why would one want to change the motorcycle to DC for 60/55? This is done only when the headlights are to be changed for HID/BiXenons. For a regular 60/55, coil rewinding & changing RR unit will sufficient.Originally posted by velociraptor13Only option would be go for full DC with coil rewinding and rr swap,at least thats what i have doneSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

no faith bro???Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View Post^^ I have a question for you - On the R15, what is the minimum rpm to keep if dual 35W HIDs are used?
.
just kiddin. i already told u na,,,if 35 each then 5k rpm for 2 hid,.but thats ok na because the right one will be on only in high beam na.the right side reflector is a dedicated high beam.if u r lookin for projector then a diff story though..sigpic

Just getting another opinion! I think you are correct, with both lights on and the radiator running, the horn sounds weak with the engine off. This bike has very tight margin to play around.Originally posted by drvmtm View Postno faith bro???

But then I wanted 2 HIDs on low beam too!
Too much kya?
Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!
