Though am using p220's bulb with relay and Amron 9amp battery, my light output is not as bright(low beam) as that of my brothers p220. why is it so. is there any problem with my electrical system or is it impossible to attain the brightness of P220. please provide some inputs.

Thanks a lot to Arun(aarun), Ranjith(ranjithMN),Ashwin(H H svc), Nano, Sajan(sajith) and Sreeni sir for their valuable inputs.

Vineeth, good going dude, its really a great achievement. Both Hi Beam pods are really blending with the Low beam lens and the angel eyes garnishes it well. Am sure its a killer setup and must be a nightmare for truckies

Do as Nano advised, check the reflector surfaces for any dust accumulation if then the output will be reduced drastically.

Would love to see the WIP pics in details if you have any.

am confused between two setups for fz...

        1. p220 projector for low beam + high beam reflectors (35W hid +55w)
        2. bixenon HID with stock reflector

        • @Nano and Sajan bro- Glad to know that. Million thanks for helping me brothers. Just because of your helps, that too online communication, a complete noob like me made something out of nothing. Wonder how it will turn out if you all build a setup together.

          great job done.
look no further and replace all the bulbs (or atleast the projector one) to HID instantly.

the reason why your output isn't as bright as the p220's output would be because of the following reasons..

          1
as your projector is USED and from junk, maybe the reflective surface wouldn't be upto the mark.

          2
there maybe dust inside the projector which really gives 50% less brightness

          3
maybe you haven't used a relay, thus the bulb isn't glowing to full brightness.

hows the battery performing will all the three on ??
yes i think dust and poor reflective surface is the major cause but am using headlight relay. Other than these am comparing mine to that of a brand new 220(just 2 weeks old). still didn't cover the headlight unit properly and 25% of work is left to do. Just couldn't resist so mounted everything in a half polished form. Regarding the battery performance, i don't know how to check it can you provede some info about how to use a multimeter? I have one but don't know how to take correct readings.

            4. how much does the bulb of bi xenon hid costs (just the bulb)?
Bi-Xen projectors uses just normal HID's i.e a usual single beam HID(h7,D1S,D2s).It works just like the usual HID's with a single Ballast.and no they dont come in H4...H4 is for Dual beam bulbs.h4 HID's holder will never fit into a projector unless you modify it besides H4 HID's have 2 bulb(HID+Halo) and hence again it wont get into a projector.

Bi-Xen Proj. would be the neatest trick though 220's proj+High beam reflector is not a bad option.but it will require more effort trying to fit both into the FZ reflector

i was thinking more of 2 hids in the setup or maybe an h7 hid in the projector and a nightbreaker for the high beam reflector....

next... have to sort out the DC conversion and re-coiling bit.

and then... add on the HID kits.

can't seem to find 4300K anywhere in bombay.

                      thanks.

the projectors are from the headlights of a merc E350.

mounted the projectors with 3" screws...
so the projector alignment is fully adjustable... just like stock lighting.

sealed up the mounting points with M-Seal.
so it's dust proof n waterproof.

wrapped the projectors in aluminum heating duct tape.
                      masked out the projector lens...
n spray painted the rest with heat-resistant matt-black.
                      put back the lens assembly.

                      done!

for right now i've used the stock R15 bulbs... (until i can sort out the coil/wiring stuff.)
had to grind down the ring around the bulb.

light spread with stock bulbs suck.
so can't wait to slap on the HIDs.

                      • @^^^ can you tell me how the projector can be realigned in your r15 after fixing it ? you have fixed it using 4 screws ? directly screwed to reflector or onto metal brackets ?

                          yes. 4 screws.

i've removed the reflector. and i haven't used any kinda brackets.

all i've used to mount the projector is...

                          3 inch screw > lock nut > spring > washer > headlight assembley> nut
                          .

no it will not drain battery on full dc bike like Zmr . hids take high current only in starting up ,once bulb is stabilised it takes current approx same as a halogen only .

                              • One question here!
I always see people painting reflectors black after putting projectors.
What is the reason behind doing so?
