Let there be Light : Bike Lighting, HID etc

I am using a 35w 4300k HID on my P220 dtsi low beam projector. I have confusions regarding the connections. I understand one thing that if I install a 55w HID it might be a plug and play but a 35w HID is not working.

I can and have bypassed the BCU and using the 35w HID but I would be extremely happy if anyone could guide me a plug and play option like adding a relay or load to the wiring that can help me use the HID with the stock switches.

One more thing if i install an HID will it burn my Stock reflectors or not?

It will not burn stock reflectors.
A Hid generates lesser heat than a halogen of similar wattage.

Well guys I found out the way around and my HID is working perfectly fine with stock switch functionality.

simple.. don't connect the HID to the battery. Instead, connect the points that you connect to battery to the headlight socket where originally the stock bulb is attached..

That was wat i was telling about connecting my HID (in P220 forum)

For my HID, am thinking of connecting the low beam H/L wire to the ballast-in directly, then the normal ballast-out to HID bulb, retaining the stock switches functionality and the BCU too. whats the advantage of bypassing the BCU?

by bypassing BCU i mean if you connect the HID on our ride in the conventional way, it will not work. It will just flash 5 times and will switch to the high beam.

By installing HID in a different wire setting, things can work just like stock. As if the HID came stock with the ride.

Sorry, some misunderstandings!
Isn't connecting the low beam H/L wire to the ballast-in directly, then the normal ballast-out to HID bulb the conventional way?

@ lockhrt, that was a detailed one.. I have been waiting to do this for a long time but changing the stock coil with Avenger coil had set me back.. I got the pilot and number plate lamps changed already to save 15 odd watts but still in dilemma to go for 55/60 w headlight.. Now one quick question, Did you face battery draining problems after installation ?

I haven't faced that problem yet. I haven't ridden much since this mod.

Check with highbeam especially. Battery indicator might pop up often.
