    • Hi Guys, I need some help!!! Installed Iikdo HID in my Apache 150 and battery is draining fast. Checked voltage across the battery @ 2000 rpm and it is showing 13 volts but even after a long ride it is not charging. I want to go for coil ungrounding and pulsar UG4 RR mod with my bike. Can someone shed some light on this one please....as of now riding to office almost without lights!!!!

        .
simple idea isa because the bulbs focal point is different. what will happen if you just hold the hid bulb in your hand and switch on , the light will scatter. if you do a proper focussing with a good reflector then its will come out as a beam. its not the r 15s reflector or hid bulb persay at fault. the focal point is slightly different form bulb to bulb ,be it halogen be it hid. just see the following pic.....
see the hot spot is different level in both of the bulbs ,so we have to adjust the hid bulb according to it. most of the time the hid bulb will need to PULL OUT from the socket. also let me tell you , you have not seen badly focussed h7 hid in p 220s projector or high beam, its totally useless. it dosent mean that the hid are worse then halogen. hid are better in terms of efficiency ,no denial about that, admit that first. its all about PROPER FOCUSING that's it.
adjusting not only means the level control ,it also means focus controlling. try it you will be amazed how much actual light you can get.

r15s reflector are different ,two are not the same for your info. the one which works in low and high beam that is capable of a bixenon bulb. the other one is only for high beam NOT FOR LOW BEAM, . THATS THE REASON THE MANUFACTURER ONLY GIVEN IT ONE BEAM. if you put bi xenon in to that it will scatter like anything. take some time off and just see the reflectors by sitting in front of them , they are different.

now how to adjust the focal point. ??

take the oem bulb which was fitted into that reflector and compare the base with hid side by side. the hids xenon bead or light emiiter part should be same level with the oem bulbs filament level. then take the hid and push or pull according to it and voila ,done....

        hope it helps......

WELL rewind with 19 awg wire and route it through ug4 rr or ape rr. ,. search xbhp ,there are lots of thread about this. apache coil is capapble of producing more then 12 AMPS if winded properly with ape rr. running 130/100 bulb was breeze.

Just got the reply about the prices of these bulbs from AK Traders.
They cost Rs. 4250/- (Two H4 HID's, ballasts and wiring kit).
AK Traders are Authorized Dealers of Philips, so these should be Genuine.

                    Hi All,

The bad news is, it comes only in 35w (both 4200k and 6000K).
55w are not in the market.

Only option is, custom twin headlamp setup (like Triumph Rocket), plonked with 2x35w's.

                    • Conversion Kit details can be found on http://www.lighting.philips.co.in/v2...p?id=1052844#0
But the listing date seems to be very old and was previously updated on 2009-04-21 so product's current availability can't be guaranteed.

So price is decent for the pair of 35 watt hid .
To put those two on same bike we need some extra power as they will eat battery faster . Instead we can share it in 2 bike's . Only an extra relay will be needed as i think .

                          • Here is a partial list of ORIGINAL Phillips hid conversion kit.

                            858154K Conv. Bulb H4 H/L 4200K 85815 P43
                            858166K Conv. Bulb H4 H/L 6000K 85816 P43

All other types of bulbs conv. kit can be found out on.

                            Print this out for reference

Other than the Conversion kit some points to be noted

Only one ballast is made by Phillips and that is PHILIPS ORIGINAL CANBUS SLIM BALLAST,Part no. is XLDCKG4X2 all other are fake.

                            Phillips manufactures bulbs for replacements.
D2S,D2R,D1S only ,any other type of OE bulbs is FAKE.

If you are not buying Phillips kit then
Good quality O.E.M ballasts are made by DENSO or Matsushita and used in most high end cars.
Original Phillips bulbs can be acquired from Merc, skoda, bmw, etc's Authorized service centers.

                            • Q ) How to check Genuine philips kit ?

                              A )
                              1. Philips bulbs will be marked Philips Germany
                              2. New Philips bulbs will have white salts
                              3. Philips bulbs will be labeled with a security label that can be tracked on www.philips.com
                              4. Philips HID Kits only use KET wiring connectors not amp
                              5. Philips ballasts will only have KET connectors

A few things you can look for if a Company is trying to pass a fake kit off as real one:
                              1. Packaging looks the same but contents inside IE bulbs and ballasts are marked Philips Patent, Philips Patent bulbs are not made by philips and are not made in Germany.
                              2. Kit comes in two boxes like the original but the boxes are grey instead of white with the philips logo
                              3. Ballasts come in a odd shape or are slim ballasts.
                              4. Wiring coming from the ballast is AMP style and not the Philips KET wiring

                              • Need suggestion

                                Hello,
I was reading threads about lighting and thus thought this will be perfect place to ask this question. I have R15 V1.0 and want to upgrade the headlight. Stock setup sucks bit time as its not adequate in city roads, leave alone the highway. I am not a frequent long distance tourer but do many short tours in nightand day. I need a set up which will not be heavy on the battery (as thats the only issue i read every where) plus I dont want to shell heavy amount on this moidification (Like HID). Please suggest bulb type i.e. Model for Low and high beam. I need better performance with present setup as I dont want to touch electrical set up of the bike which came as stock. waiting for some quick response.
                                Thanks in advance
