    Hey..thanx for the reply.
So, the electrical set up is so as to power a 35W bulb only. Then what will happen if I connect a 35W HID directly to the battery..? The alternator is anyways producing enough power for a 35W, rite..?

Yes you can, you should have a careful eye on other aspects too. The Pilot Lamps are halogen's, so does the Blinkers. As you know HID's initially draw more current than required, it is advisable to change the above mentioned to LED's. By doing that you'll save like 10W or even more (depending on their rating) which will keep your bike electricals happy inclusive of the charging & discharging rates after installing the HID's.

        Hey..thats great..
I am really pissed off with the stock lighting. If HID is actually possible without rewiring and DC conversion, it would be great. But no one ever told me this

Regarding LEDs, I ll change the pilot lamp, and try not to use the blinkers while starting the HID
So, which brand should I go for..? What could be the total cost including ballast and wiring..?

No not a good idea , as your bike has AC light setup , so stock coil & RR charging to battery is not sufficient if you put a direct DC wire to HID . It will drain battery fastly .

LED's would be fused on AC , use diodes & resistances to protect . But best way is DC conversion .
Philips HID costs around 9500 rupees & come in pair . Find someone to share it so you get one around 5000 .
Made in China HID costs around 1000 rupees & same china made with warrenty costs around 2500 rupees .

No one told me either, just with a Trial & error method after a lot of hard lessons finally figured out myself on my Pulsar 200, took the connections for the HID from ignition out & it just worked fine for almost 3 yrs plus.

If you can change the Pilot Lamps, why not the Blinkers too?? But be sure to put appropriate Resistance to that too.

I'm not sure of the current market prices, maybe someone who has done it should help you.

Even if its of the same wattage..?

Yes as the same 35 wattage bulb is on AC , so the charging provided to battery is calculated by not cosidering its load .
While you going to put HID on DC ( battery ) so obviously charging is less than the draining . But i think it won't affect that much if you ride very less in night say for 20/30 minits & in high rpm .

Did you do the DC conversion..?
stock charging rate for most AC-DC bikes is ~ 24-30W whereas you'll be draining ~ 45-50W during night-rides, that'll drain the battery very easily in 2~3 hours.

RR's don't get weak over a span of mere 2 years, unless you've have had a short-circuit or some other electrical fault.
Having said that, if your battery is working fine, the h/l must not be flickering because even if the RR is faulty because your h/l would be getting its power from the battery directly (till the battery is dead). Most probably its some faulty wiring/contacts. Get the h/l wiring checked.

                          • SMD for pilot lamps and blinkers

                            Hello bikerz,

Does someone have first hand experience of SMD LEDs for the pilot lamps and blinkers for Pulsar 220S (normal fairing). I have the urge to start some modifications on the bike and thought would start with the lighting.

                            Any suggestions, please advice.

                            Cheers

i just want a better illumination in the same bulb rating that it 55 W
so can anyone suggest me a bulb , without altering any electrical setup , just as a plug and play setup
