Without boost in charging u wont get more than 1hr from a mean 9AH.

There r some small H4 P43t sealed beams used for 3 wheelers like APE, Bajaj etc. which is still 6" in dia. Or u can mod an H7 aux lamp to fit an H4, bit painful job but worth to go for.

Thanks for the suggestion boss... but can you elaborate a lil on the bold please? I thot H7 just has the pin config diff from H4. is it not? I mean, is there a diff in dia or length something?
Also, I'll be grateful if you can tell where I can get some aux lamps for this purpose in cochin...
(BTW,the 4hr night ride I talked abt is b/n Tvm and cochin only )

        Thanks again bro

Modding means, just the bulb seating position, in simple you should make H4 bulb sit firmly and the filament should be rightly focused. Its pure mechanical work. Once the bulb is seated wiring is no big deal. You can add extra H4 bulb connector and switch which can operate it. Hope this is what Sajit meant

Shree is right, its just a mech work but getting it correctly focussed could be a pain too. Once u remove the Halo from the HID base, its single beam almost like H7 and both have got some similarities too. Some grinding job will make it fit to an H7 slot. Dont worry about the socket types its just a wiring job to tackle.

I've just shared what I've in my mind. There are many access shops everywhere but mostly having H3 aux lamps. AFAIK, H7 is not an aux catgry. So its easy to get a small H4 instead. Like I said auto's with H4 beams but there too geting a cover for them is another pain. Aux lamp should be weather proof, so take that in mind too.

Whatever it may, without touching the charging systems, u wont get enough backup, thatsz what I was conveying to u.

Shree, got any clues to fit an H4? I know u r also after that. Twin setup wont give a neat finish I think, look out for a aux lamp like we discussed.

              Saving and planning for it
I need custom clamp makers for it, probably will have to mess with turning radius also . Hope that doesn't happen. Wish I get something good in Junk else again new means its gonna cost a bomb. If I opt for dual headlilght then I will ditching the idea of APE RR

                        • Hey.. one of my friend is running Night Breaker (55W) bulb directly on his 1 year old FZ.. it has a DC setup with stock 35W headlight bulb.

I assume, that it produces around 45W only.. and he is not able to utilize the powers of Night breaker fully. is that correct???

any suggestions.. would disabling somehting like pilot lamps etc. would help diverting more power towards headlight?

right now, he is happier than the stock bulb though..

Not necessary, there won't be cut-off to 45w or anything. In a DC bike, u plonk in 100w, it will glow well till your battery is dried. So no need of disconnecting anything for 55/60w Osram NB.!!

It should last as long as your bike is running at a healthy speed, say around 40kmph speed. I had Osram NB with battery connection without any mod on my charging unit. (note mine is a AC/DC bike so charging rate is low compared to all DC bike)

I could run hours together without any mess !! I usually had problem only while running in bumper to bumper traffic.
