Somehow my opinion is contradictory to yours.. yes agree that 6000k HID is bit blueish.. I have used Philips Rallyvision 90/100w and Osram Nightbreaker 55/60w and now using HID's 6000k wala.. I felt HID's are much pleasant and for highway riding its the best bcz it can focus to very distant objects and also can give light up the surroundings as well which is helpful when riding on pitch dark road. Abhi has noticed that when he was with Rahul & Me.

1 thing I agree is HID's are waste of money if using only in city limits which also drains battery and harms on coming vehicles too by its glare.

Regarding rectifier, I am running on stock electricals and I can flawlessly run for hours together with HID but with Halogen its not possible as the power consumed by HID is 35w 3ah (approx) but Halogen consumes 55/60w.!!

I mostly agree with you. They have awesome spread and lights up the surroundings rather well, but their throw is poor. A 100/90 halo will enable you to see much farther down the road compared to HID.

Hi guys, I am a novice in regards to electrics. Therefore dont mind my stupid queries. I have a suzuki gs which has 35watts headlamp. I wanted to try night breaker on my bike to see if the brightness improves. However, I was told that the generator does not produce enough wattage to light the 60watt bulb to its full capacity. In that case I would need to get the coil rewinded so it can produce more wattage. I am not sure if this is correct. The issue is that my place does not have a shop where i can get the job done. There more chances that they will do harm to the bike's wiring and all. I think avenger's stator plate generates 60watts. So can it be fitted on my suzuki gs or it can only be fitted on a bajaj bike. If it can be fitted what other parts needs to be changed as well. In case it cant be fitted, what are my options? Thanks to Abhijeet for your help. You are welcome! A car electrician may take up the coil rewinding work. But as no one here has done this on their GS150R, no clear cut steps can be provided. Avenger's stator plate can not be fitted, I guess. Is GS150R all DC bike? If yes, you can go for HID.

na. GS is not all DC. I dont want to play with the coil rewinding thing as I fear that the wiring will go kaput if not done properly. Another question if I remove the pilot lamps and the number plate light I will be able to save 15 watts. So will it be enough to light up the night breaker or it does not work that way. Also HID is good but than again I would have to convert the bike to all dc for which I would have to depend on a mechanic. So hid cant be fitted on an ac bike right. But why? Raj

can any one suggest me a headlight for my pulsar 150 dtsi 2006 model .
i have changed the light just few days back but still i am not feeling that the light is adequate enough for night riding.
any other substitue.i dont want to go for the HID.

Don't compare regular reflector's light with Amby's round doom headlight That is more of search light !!

No need to change the battery. The wires from coil to RR unit to battery will need to be replaced with thicker ones. Rest are fine. You can connect the h/l to battery, but it may drain as charging capacity is the same as before without the mods.

Better drop some bulbs and use the 60/55W and see.

Hey guys,
I've done the Avenge Stator Coil (DV111005) mod on my Pulsar 180UG3 and have put in a Philips X-Treme Power 55/60W bulb. The results are much better than my stock 35/35W lighting, but I feel I might be happier with some more light if possible.

I was wondering on what would happen if I put in a 100/90W bulb directly into the current setup, i.e with the Avenger coil. I usually don't drive more than 1 hour at night. Would my batteries get drained completely?



P.S. I've felt horn, indicator buzzers etc sound a little louder than earlier with the new coil. The bike seems more 'revvy' as well... is this expected with a simple coil change?

^^ 100/90 will not work. Light will be dim. Batteries will not be affected as h/l runs on AC. Louder horns etc - possible, but revvy engine?! Almost impossible!

Hmm... maybe thats coz the idling got a little messed up during the mod
hey, will the 100/90 be even dimmer than the 55/60 on my setup?

Also, is there any way to increase the amount of lighting with the 55/60 bulb?

Yeah it will be dimmer! But then try it out. At higher revs it may works better.

Yes, use APE RR unit. And maybe need to rewind the coil. If you are serious about this, first get the wiring diagram of your bike.
