    • Osram Nightbreaker on P220 worth it?

I was thinking of changing the bulbs to Osram nightbreaker H7 (I think thats what the 220 requires)

Will the increase in intensity be noticeable
      I am getting 1 pack of 2 for 1200

Here's the Link Of the offer, shipping is free too, and they are giving the sidebulbs(philips pilot lights free too)

(Will there be any duty for the package? if so how much?)

      EDIT:
The duty on lamps is 10%

and i have narrowed down on
      this as well.
      Philips X-Treme Power H7

      Is this worth an upgrade?
and yes how to pay the custom duty encountered if any

firsyt i went to exide shop ,checked the battery,it was one cell down, going for a new battery tomorrow.exide rs 1600 ,30 months warrenty.

now i was thinking last few days to modify mt hid,i already removed it from bike then my evil brain came into action,a little DO IT YOURSELF for me today.let me start.

'my hid originally lookked like this.....

now i removed the halogen bulb and the shield from the hid..only the hid is there.
        \\

i went to market and searched for a rx 100 headlight, got it minda oem 240 inr only.
now i removed the seal beam inside it and started searching for dcm toyota seal beams which were h4 type.finally brought it for 100inr autopal make.these are straight fit to rx 100s dome, voila a h4 mast relativley small light ready!!!
installed my hid into it.made it fit into left crash guard of my bike. the circit needed to be extended by wire as the hid controller is now sitting below my rear seat as with its cut out.

light is awasome,i fell in love with hids just because of the concentrated nature of the light.the best light i hv seen till date.

ruunung the setup with my 55/60 halogen, the hid is set low and also lower in crashguard, not too much glare.....
if this runs i am too happy. will post pics soon. here is the setup.
now some of you will say it will produce glare but in usa there is some special hid convertion sealbeams are avl like this one.........
        http://suvlights.com/popup_image.php?pID=301ℑ=0
my uncle brought a pair for his hummer and i saw these first hand.belive me its same as our good old non clear lence sealbeams like one abhijit is using, like i am using,.even i saw the glare from these are same as our ones so chill.

i will post more pics very soon.
Nice start and a very good attempt too. Well we've got some assumptions like this in my earlier thread.

Wanna know whats wrong with your bike or or looking for the best mechanic in your town? Ask here!

But u've gone more into practical and hats off to u man. This will surely help others who r using hID's on stock sealed beams.

No I dont belive this, its costing morethan $200 and letting glares like anyother round sealed beam? Noway, infact, our normal sealed beams r designed to use low lumn halogens for which the beam spread has to be wide to see more with the available lux. But when it comes to HID it produces 3 times than a normal halo so the extra lumn to be tackled by more precision focusing and better reflector quality. If u see the pic of HID reflector u'll get convinced, even Hella is having this HID sealed beam priced at higher end $700.

        Rallye 4000 HID

If the premium u paid is not returning in terms of quality, then no body will go for it and reputed cos will not fool people at any circumstances.

Drvmtm, pls post some pic of the beam spread of this HID sealed beam so that we'll get a clear pic. What I expressed just above is my sheer assumption out of logic, I've'nt seen its perfo but once I've seen on a T Prado, but that was on a day time From the first look itself it will make u convince the quality of the sealed beam, thats what I found.

        Here's one of it:

This is another free form type reflector for normal bulbs so is the price too $179

Expect a call from ur shipper in most cases, they will pay for u, once u agree. U cannot negotiate always with the duty imposition, as u r in the receiving end, the shipping co is doing it for u. Who cares to negotiate for a third party without a benefit? its a low value item for customs so they will put a slab for that for charging, I had similar experience. But the quality is good.

so what would be the duty cost for Night breaker?
One site is quoting 17.49 GBP equals nearly 1200rs.

And the one used in 220 is H7 na?

and these will be direct fit in both upper and dipper?

Sorry for lot of ques, I never explored this area

Dude, the only way I know of to increase power is to replace the Pulsar coil with the Avenger's.

However know this that the pilot lamps each take up 5W, and the lamp over the rear number plate takes up 5W. So if you're ready to take them off, there's about 15W of extra electrical power left for use.

35 + 15 = 50W. Theoretically you could run a 55/60W bulb on this setup, however know that there will be some dimming at low RPMs. Any cheap (less than Rs 100/-) 55/60W bulb should serve your purpose for this test.

However, i'd recommend you confirm this theory with someone else before you try it out, just in case there's a flaw in it that I don't know of.

Besides, this mod shouldn;t cost you much, since you'll only be spending on the bulb (say Rs100/-) + labor charges for disconnecting the pilot lamps, the rear number-plate lamp, and replacing the bulb (say Rs100/-)... Total: Rs200/- Shouldn't be too much considering that you can always revert back to the original setup without much effort & loss. Changing the coil would however set you back by Rs544/–, plus the cost of the bulb and labor charges.

              • @sajjt & drvmtm

Hey, ever thought of removing the Pulsar's reflector from the dome, and plonking in an RX100 dome (with the dcm toyota seal beams) in its place?

IMHO the beam of light from a 55/60W bulb in this kind of setup would beat the Pulsars' OEM setup by a good amount.

What do you guys say? I might give it a try sometime if it seems a viable option.

@drvmtm - Night time pics please! Even I may get HID if I am convinced.

I want to know again that, If i fit a 55W bulb in my 180 UG4(fully DC) then, Do I have to use a relay or directly plonk in the bulb??

                    • ^^ Relay is recommended, not a must.

Yes, I understand the point. But, would'nt the bulb go Kaput many times if a relay is avoided??

                        • No, in fact the wires may heat up and melt.

So, how could relay save wires?? I think that the wires also needs change??

coz i have almost finalized them

                              • Relays come with their own thicker wires right from the battery to the h/l. They do not use the existing wires for the power supply.

@Omi - Dude, just confirm it from your manual!
