Hey drvmtm, this HID is much better than the normal stuffs incl projectors. Old round reflector really works with HID. It is awesome in low beam and almost as good as 100/90W in high beam. Just make it point a little higher, the high beam will be very good too. Man, I am tempted!

Hi guys, these last few days I have been trying to get hold of the wiring diagram of my bike. Still no luck. I have few questions for you guys. On a full dc bike one can plonk a higher power bulb and use it. Right? Only thing to worry about is that battery may discharge faster than it charges. So if a high capacity rr unit is used this issue will be resolved. Is my understanding correct? My bike has a ac+dc setup. On stock condition the headlight + pilot lamp runs on ac. Remaining lights like console, starter motor, tail lamp, license plate light, signal light works on dc. To convert my bike to full dc i would need to remove the grounded wires from the coil and connect it and use the wire from pulse coil to connect to the ape rr unit. After changes are done to the wiring the bike would be all dc. In that case why is the need to rewind the coil. I plan to use a 55watt bulb. Also i guess the battery should be charged at 10% of its capacity. So the charging current should be 0.9amp for a 9amp battery. Then charging the battery at higher amps will have side affects right? What bad can happen? Less life for battery, bulb, wiring what? Also how do i recognise which coil is for light, charging etc. Please guide. Raj.

Modification in Fazer
I am writing this query on behalf of my friend that he wants to install H.I.D's in his Fazer.Actually a idea of mine.Will it have any adverse effects on bike's performance (current,charging,overloading etc) and as fazer had to headlamps,can H.I.D being fitted on both.
And fellow members from Delhi pls do tell good place or a better person for this work.Only place i know is Karol Bagh.Down the GEAR and DISAPPEAR

U could've avoid that man, an original harness is better than anything u do AFAIK. Shorter the distance better perfo its a thumb rule.

@kauria - Its not a problem. Get the exposed metal part covered in a layer of ELECTRICAL VARNISH. Its known to electrical motor winding ppl. Rewind the coils in alternate fashion. Then, get it painted by another layer of electrical varnish on the top. Then you are done.
@basumataryraj - Rewinding + new rr unit is a must if you need more power.Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

thanks for your reply. Please dont think i am adamant. But if a stock dc bike can use a 55watt bulb without any modifications why not a bike which has been converted to dc. Is there any difference on how the coils are winded in a dc and an ac stator? Also what about the charging rate of the battery. If the battery is charged at a higher rate what issues could arise in long run? Logical answer is less life for battery? Is it? Kindly bear with my questions. this is exactly was in my mind,but there is little that i can do at that time.practically there is no place to sit the ballast and its not a slim ballast,its an old type,i thought of placing it inside the headlight dome but its already filled up with a cutout which is supplying the headlight unit.so i thought a little and did a daredevil decision.i thought i will use heavier gauges of wire as it carries a mad load of voltage.but it was pretty low guage wire,i used the closest wire gauge,extended the wires by 4 foot or so.placed the ballast under the sit with its dedicated cutout.now i winded the wires first with black tape individually then covered them with wire covering sleeve and then with wire insulaters to cover them properly all the way from ballast to light.till now i didnt faced any prob.i got another one today ,thinking of building a another one.please share your thoughts.Originally posted by sajjt View Post

I guessed... but for a wild moment I thot pulsar coil may also fit! hehe.
