Hi Guys,
This thread has been a lot more informative as far as lighting up the head is concerned.
Based on the info in the thread I had upgraded to Os Nb 55/60 with Avey coil.The light is brillant but I am facing a unique problem after doing this upgrade. When I am using the bike at Night with the head lamp on the engine goes of in the middle of the road (when i try to accelerate hard) and the one way clutch gives up, I hear a thud from the engine. I got the bike checked with my mech and he mentioned that the one way clutch has given up. No matter, I changed the same after a couple of days again the same problem. Opened the one way clutch and guess what again the little magnet pieces has broken in the one way clutch.
My questions here:
1.has any1 faced this problem?
2.Whts the solution?
Plz people help me on this as I am already out of pocket which the bill for 2 oneway clutch.

I'm also planning to get my RTR180 coil rewinded for installing 55/60W light. Found one guy in cochin (which is 200 odd kays from ma place) and went once, but unfortunately he had to go somewhere at the last minute. I have to try again, but on a working day... SOME INFO ABT APACHE 180 DC CONVERSION.
YES,ITS POSSIBLE SO SMILE
.
apache 180 has 8 pole stater coil,4 for light,4 for charging.
first take the stator and undo all the wiring carefully.
Then rewind using 19 awg wire as much as possible per pole,finish one pole,then the next pole should be in other direction,and like this fill up all the poles.remember to bind clean and clearly,even and tightly,the more you can wrap up per pole the more output there will be,get help from professionals.
after winding done there will be two wires that will be coming out from the stater coil.take this two wires and feed them to APE s regulator rectifier unit.this rr will feed the battery and bingo u r done.now enjoy car like energy from ur battery.tci will also be happy as the charging will be increased so no fear,i am here.

Got news from a SVC guy, who has a bad stator plate, and he is ready to provide it. Hopefully I will collect it today eve.
One thing that came to my mind, Apache has 100 watt magneto. That mean it is the combine effort of 4 lighting and 4 charging coils. Now if I connect the output of the both coils together and connect it to the APE RR UNIT, what will happen? Full 100watt for charging?
Do I really need to rewind the stator?
Just out of curiosity, what could be the output after rewinding the stator?

It may or may not possible and all depends on the both winding pattern ends. Its should be continued CW and ACW else, u wont get the output and may smoke it too. If the light coil ends with CW and the charging coil start with ACW, then u can combine both and use the total, but there too, u wont get the output of a rewounded 19G coil as the stock coils are mostly with 22g or so. So imagine the diff. If u got a spare coil with u, then u can go ahead with the rewinding without any fear of smoking the original. The comparison with my friend's RTR 160 was with my bike also being stock. Now of course my P220F has 4300K H7 HIDs on both the high and low beam. The high beam is so bright in fact, that I never ever use it within the city limits. Was thinking of putting the stock bulb back in for the high beam to flash those idiots who never seem to know when to use their low beams in the city.

.if your exsisting coil is clocl-anticlock-clock-anticlock then just joining them can do the trick.but as sajjit said the oem coil will be lighter wired and ITS ALWAYS BETTER TO START WITH A FRESH CLEAN BASE,THE 8 POLE OUTPUT CAN REACH UPTO 130-150 WATT IF ITS REWINDED PROPERLY.
ALSO THE OUT PUT WILL BE BETTERE FROM THE APE RR BECAUSE ITS A FULL CYCLE HIGH CAPACITY RR AGAINST THE PUNY OEM RR,REMEMBER APE RR IS CONNECTED TO A 50 AH BATTERY,SO ITS A 4 WHEELER SPEC PRODUCT

yours is a p 150 2006 model na?thats ug 2, so the upgrading possibilities are there ,same model as mine,only mine is 180.
there are two options
1.easy
2.not so easy.
lets starts with the easy option.its about to increse the ac amp supply in the bike,it dosent alter the dc charging of the battery,no other change just ac amp increase.if u recollect the parts run on ac are headlight+two pilot+tail postion lamp+numberplate lamp+speedo cosole lights+high beam indicater.
now if u alter these u can free up some power which u can use in a 55/60 headlamp,but me personally am not in favoure of any of this REMOVE AND SAVE theory,more over company gave them for a specific reason and all of them is having safty features specially on a highway.
SO GO FOR AVENGER STATER PLATE(DV111005).just plug and play as u already read before.what it will do it will increse the ac amp only resulting 55/60 headlight bulb.but in low rpm there will be a slight lag when changing to high and low beam.if u want to eliminate that then u have to plonk a avy rr (regulater rectifier).
REMEMBER I USED THIS COMBO FOR MORE THEN A YEAR(ONLY COIL UPGREAD+STOCK PULSY RR),IT NEVER MISSED A BEAT,WORKED LIKE CHARM,NO LOAD ,NOT EVEN A SLIGHT ONE ON ENGINE...........COST OF STATER PLATE 532.00.I CHANGED TO FULL DC BECAUSE I ALWAYS LOVED FULL DC SYSTEMS BECAUSE I WAS A CAR GUY AND AC+DC SEEMD TO BE VERY LOW TECH TO ME,ALSO IN HIGHWAYS IT SEEMD TO BE UNDER ILLUMINATED SPECIALLY WITH CHANGING INTENSITY WITH CHANGING REVS.,I HATED THAT.I WANTED A SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE A LIGHT LIKE 4 WHEELER

ALSO IF U R RUNNING THE STOCK DTSI REFLECTER HOUSING THEN I WILL SUGGEST YOU TO CHANGE IT TO THE NEWER WOLF EYED ONES BECAUSE THE NEWER ONE S ARE MORE FOCUSED THEN THE OLD ONES,THE ILLUMINATION WILL BE BETTER.
AS FOR THE BULB USE A REPUTED BRANDED H4 BULB 55/60.IF YOU HAVE A CAR SPARE WHICH IS GIVEN BY EVERY NEW CARS AS A PAIR SPARE BULB,USE THOSE BULBS,THOSE ARE A NOTCH BETTER THEN BULBS AVL IN THE MARKET.STILL NOT HAPPY,GO FOR A H4 PHILLIPS EXTREAM POWER,BUT DONT EXPECT A 80% INCRESE

You may try it out. But use them in parallel, NOT in series. As for the polarity, you have to try it out both way. What about the day time, when the battery will get the charging current but no use of battery apart from the 3 watt break lamp and horn and starter motor. Is there any built in circuit which prevent the overcharge. I heard there is a option in Bajaj's GC1000 RR unit. One red cable which will be directly connected to the igi switch and this will monitor the battery voltage and regulate the charging duration. What you say, is that also available with APE RR.
